Just watched the teaser, and Mary looks both seriously pissed off and suffering from PTSD, the way she was staring. Funny thing is I was feeling upset about all the things I read for the new season, but watching that got me all excited again. Agree with catrox, StuntDriving!Dean (Jensen) is always BADASS.
What I hope the MoL learn the hard way is it's one thing to watch them, but having to deal with a seriously pissed off angel and the demon formerly known as the King of Hell is something entirely different. In fact, I hope MoL has kidnapped and/or killed Gavin to prevent something bad happening with the space/time continuum and Crowley burns them all to the ground.

My Wild Ass Guess is that they wanted Dean for pretty much a similar reason... not so much "crimes against humanity" as "I wonder if we could make Dean turn into a demon again / access any powers / find out if there are any lingering effects from the Mark of Cain." You know, for science. *snort*

I really don't understand WHY. MoL already know what the Winchesters have done. Obviously they can already get into the bunker and loot whatever they want. Sam thinks Dean is dead, torturing him asking "Where's Dean?" isn't going to change his tune. What is the point of this? Punishment for not coloring inside the lines?

I was hoping Gavin was dead. I was REALLY hoping Lucifer was dead. Does this mean he's going to move to LA and solve crime now since Amara is no longer a threat? And yeah... Rick Springfield, what's up with that?

I just found these two pics of the shooting of "Baby" (yes, I know, very last year LOL) and looking at these, I have no idea how anyone could even SEE out the windshield to drive. Must take a lot of discipline to not try to move your head to look around the cameras! If they don't include a "making of Baby" featurette on the DVDs I will be all the sad, these kinds of things fascinate me.

I just watched this episode yesterday, and it's interesting to read all the comments when it first aired. I really like this episode, both for the look/era they chose, and how understated it is. Delphine's acceptance of Dean as a Man of Letters, the crewman who reads Flash Gordon (and all he asks about is when the war will end, to know the fate of his friends and family), how calm the captain is and how he tells Delphine they'd never consider a surrender. I'm a big fan of WWII-era styling.
Glad Lucifer!Cas is out of the bag, and I'm not worried in the least about Crowley. I'm sure he's been through a LOT worse and still come out on top, he'll have something up his sleeve. I do find it funny that Lucifer had him dress in something that's about as complete opposite from a suit as you can get, he looks like he's in Hawaii on vacation. I really hope that the Winchesters put up some angel warding on the bunker to keep Lucifer out, although I wouldn't be surprised if he just didn't bother himself with them (at least for the moment) as they don't have a Hand of God that works, and apparently had no leads in the library. I'd still be putting up angel warding EVERYWHERE though, if it were me.
Just because I'm all about the details, I decided to look a few things up. There was no Gato-class submarine named the Bluefin (big surprise), however there WAS one named the Bluefish. It fought in WWII in the Pacific, took down a number of Japanese ships before being retired and eventually sold for scrap in 1960. Diesel-powered, had a crew of about 60 during peacetime (not sure if there'd be more or less during wartime). Also it seems that most of the Gato-class submarines were named after fish or fish-related themes.
There are no brigs on modern day subs, so I would assume the same on WWII-era subs; if there is a need to lock someone down, they're put into an empty bunk room, so keeping Dean in the galley under guard seems like the wisest course of action. What I really originally wanted to look up is how deep those submarines could dive, as the captain tells them to dive to maximum depth. The page for Bluefish says the test depth was 300 feet, meaning normal "maximum depth" would be above that. For some reason I pictured subs being able to dive much further than that, 300 seems like it'd be way too shallow to hide from ships on the surface. It obviously was too shallow for Nazi necromancer ship of death.
Also want to say the submarine set looked amazing!

I have to say, the ending shots were beautiful. If you read carefully on the webpage Sam reads about the captain, it says there's a Bluefin memorial at the Veterans Memorial Park on the Arkansas River in Wichita, Kansas. So I'm going to go with that's where Dean was at the end, to remember the crew of the Bluefin. I liked how he was reluctant to talk to Sam about what happened because he hadn't fully processed it himself, telling him instead "story for another day".
Been listening to "Non, Je ne regrette rien" all morning, what a perfect song for Delphine.

Back to the bunker I see... I wonder if all the cars in there are real. I also get why Sam and Dean don't drive them around, they'd stand out more than the Impala does. Also just realized this particular car is the same color as my nail polish.

I think when Cas was returned to Earth, the cries of the other angels were too overwhelming for him to hear anything else. Dean also gave Cas almost no time to respond. I guess he was expecting him to just pop in to the chapel, not realizing that when the angels fell they lost that ability. I do find the scene of "farmer angel" hopping his tractor to get there as quick as possible pretty amusing; I can just hear him thinking "screw the plants, I'm gonna bag me a Winchester!"

Just watched this episode again last night. This morning, reading an article about "Stranger Things" on Netflix and they mention E.T. and Dee Wallace as influences, and my brain made the connection that she played Elliott's mom in the movie. Had the feeling I'd seen her before in something!

I just watched this episode with my mom this past weekend. Deep into S10 rewatch, I just wasn't in the mood and wanted something else. I personally do not like dolls at all (due to a children's story my brother and I both read in grade school about a doll that comes alive at night, grows long fingernails, and claws people's eyes out), but I do like this episode quite a bit. I will watch the entire episode just to see the hangover scene, which I ADORE. I just love the way it's shot, with the camera on the mirror showing Sam in the bathroom, instead of directly on the bathroom. I had to watch it several times to figure out that's what was going on, I kept thinking I was crazy since the location of the bathroom didn't fit what I was seeing.
I also have to say that the first time I watched this (and whenever I watch it again after a LONG break and forget), I thought "drunk Sam" was actually "drunk possessed Sam" because of his comments. What he says, and how he says it, reminded me much more of a kid, especially the "You're bossy" comment. I thought for sure Maggie had taken control.
Mom pointed out a few things as we were watching:
- Why were all the family pictures left at the end when she was leaving in the cab? I'm guessing because she was getting daughter out of town and planned on having a moving company box them up. But as mertensia pointed out above, why were they still out to begin with? You'd think those would be the first things she'd pack up.
- Why did Sam & Dean just leave, without taking care of the ghosts? They're obviously still there, and who's to say they won't get violent in the future? Even if the building is torn down, I assume they'd be able to haunt whatever is built in its place.
- Even Mom thought the dolls were creepy, but said she'd definitely take the Maggie-doll.
- How exactly was the ghost killing folks? The dolls in the dollhouse became the accidents, but was she causing the accidents with the dolls, or doing it directly? We never see Maggie at all. Mom pointed out there was no car out front of the dollhouse to run anyone over.
- And what's up with no first aid given to Tyler? Not even turning her and pounding on her back? You'd think with "saving people" as the family motto that one or both of them would've taken a course in CPR at some point (maybe Sam in college, since he apparently took everything in college)
I also love Sherwin and his stories. Dean's thoughtful face as he's thinking about poking her with a stick. And every time Sam jumps into the pool I say out loud "But what about your cast???"
