  1. Anyone else appreciate that what finally killed Klaus and Elijah was just about the only evil or enemy they didn't have a hand in creating? Years of their own actions coming back to haunt and endanger the family and it's The Hollow that takes out two Original brothers. Despite Klaus' typical inability to follow rules and would get too close to his family none of them played any real part in releasing the power. They were all out of commission when the 'uprising' started and it was only after Hayley's Lebonair blood put a target on Hope they got involed. There's something incredibly fitting that once again Marcel's rule of the city is at least partially at fault, seeing as it all began with the witches luring back Klaus because Marcel interfered with the Harvest
  2. The vessel had to he strong enough to contain the power. As a kid the power essentially consumed Hope leading Vincento put it in th Mikaelsons. As a teenage tribrid Hope put up a better fight but was still overcome by the voices, violent urges and creepy veins. Klaus taking the power is brilliant in the sense that he's strong enough to contain it (at least in comparison to others we've seen affected) but he certainly wasn't immune to it as the Mikael hallucinations show. The Hollow needn't consume Klaus, just be able to infiltrate his mind to be dangerous in an end of the world sense, with his paranoia, propensity for violence and near indestructible body. Basically they needed time for a solution and time was something they absolutely could not spare as Klaus only achieved control for the less than 24hours because Elijah took some for himself. Seeing as papa tunde's blade and other truly creepy containers of The Hollow seemed indestructible, I assume when put into the original siblings their weaknesses were assumed. Instead of indestructible objects vulnerable for the taking the magic was in vampires capable of defending themselves/protecting the magic with only one (EXTINCT) weakness
  3. So Klaus' death was 100% unnecessary seeing as Elijah was committed to dying with the power shared or only in him. If I were Klaus I'd be less worried of the possible darkness and freaking terrified of an afterlife where he has to face Hayley. I'm not fan of the suicide pack for obvious reasons not to mention how ridiculous it is for them to survive 1000 years escaping death only to kill themselves (each other) plus they've proven Kol's opinion on the families toxic codependency right beyond all reason. Guiltily I have to appreciate the idea of Klaus and Elijah dying together. Since they were humans Elijah's devoted his life to Klaus to varying degrees and the forced separation in S3, Elijah's temporary death in s4 and the memory loss proved how crippled Klaus is by his absence. I honestly can't imagine one of them living without the other. I'm also disturbingly pleased with the fact the brothers killed each other because this family has twisted me like that I feel for Marcel finally getting all of Rebekah with the stipulation he watches her grow old and die and will then be forced to face eternity alone. Let's be grateful Davina wasn't ther despite loving Kol and (presumably) maturing the animosity between her and Klaus as well as Elijah would have been too much. I understand Kol's separation from the family and determination to keep it that way but disappearing when Klaus was dying was pretty low. History of daggers and bullshit aside, Klaus was there for him when he died in s2, Finn cursed him and Kol was still at his deathbed and more to the point respectful at his funeral not to mention he came back after hearing of Elijah's death - who sacrificed his wife. The Klaus/Kol moment was perfectly done but Elijah and Kol's goodbye/hug killed me. Not only did it look like Kol was crying but it was a welcome change from the awkward reunion when Kol came back to life is S3. I hope Marcel sticks around because no matter how happy Kol is with Davina or how satisfied he is with a life apart from his family, Freya, Rebekah and Davina will all be mortal (possibly Hope) I've low key shipped Freya and Vincent but no matter how much time or physical space separates them from the 'main Mikaelsons' it seemed to be too big a complication for a relationship. Their alliance/partnership and friendship was great and I think with the death of Klaus and Elijah Vincent having and being involved with a kid with Freya and Keelin might be great for all of them. Plus baby cousin for Hope! All in all the finale showed what everyone has always known - there's the Mikaelsons/Original Family, there always&forever with Elijah, Klaus & Rebekah and beyond even that there's the bond between Elijah and Niklaus.
  4. I think there’s a balance to be found. I’m not expecting peace already we’ve seen the easy sale of blood and creation of a hybrid and had someone infiltrate the school to kidnap a student and with the supernatural not even considering the Mikaelson factor… well some things just come with the territory. But even when abducted Hope was never alone she had a father searching who was familiar with the supernatural world, as her headmistress Caroline was actively looking and enlisted the help of a class of student witches. That’s a serious change from the scooby teenagers who had ignorant humans and prejudice council members as caretakers who generally created more complications and danger. And other than the possible exception of the Salvatore brothers Alaric was the sole adult they could turn to for help. I want to see Alaric and Caroline to fill that deficiency, for them to serve as the guidance, support and sense of security that was absent in the past - even if as teenagers they fail to recognize, utilize or all out reject it. Avoid the fear that ruled Tyler, the self hatred that created the ripper as well as the pressure, expectations and sacrifices that defined Bonnie. Without question the supernatural world is dangerous and even as kids inevitable but not being alone surrounded by peers and accessible support should make a difference. Back in s2 Elijah mentioned he believed things would have been different if there had been someone to teach them when they turned and the possibilities if the original family weren’t forced to learn by trial and error and dependent on each other are endless
  5. Agreed. If Nik survives he needs a reason to be gone and not constantly up in Hope's business. And if she is going to fight big bads on the regular on the new show we also need a reason he doesn't try to swoop In to save her. As far as I can see Caroline also will need a reason to be gone as she doesn't appear in any trailers for the new show. Maybe she takes him away to deal with his brothers death? I can't see the CW wanting to give up a possibility of any of these guys showing up for a sweeps stunt. Networks still care about sweeps right? I guess I'm still madly spinning ways for Nik to survive this. That Klaroline bit in the square really got me. Why didn't he just kiss her? And as I've said ships on THIS show are not my thing but that whole "not the villain of my story" almost kiss was well done in my opinion. Acknowledging the tight hold Klaus has kept on his family, I think it's possible we're underestimating him. S3 forced Klaus to entrust Hayley with raising their daughter and saving the lives of all his siblings while remained imprisoned by Marcel - completely and utterly unable to intervene. The start of s4 had him trusting Hayley's judgement when it came to Hope & allowing Rebekah (& Kol) to leave without drama or angst. The finale once again had Klaus relinquishing Hope to Hayley entirely (forever) and all but severed the influence/control he had over the lives of his siblings. It's worth noting that for the majority of that forced separation Klaus cut out all contact with Hope & later Hayley. Even in s5 he's shown an unexpected amount of restraint , allowing Hope space to grieve and spend potentially her last day among others experiencing life. (Instead of teaching her how to file taxes... or rather evade them) I haven't seen the trailer and I can't imagine Caroline leaving her kids or the school, the 2-3 years time skip could easily mean an established relationship that's more in the background & less of a presence in the school. As Caroline said Klaus Mikaelson isn't exactly a school selling point. - I bloody pray Hope, Josie, Lizzie etc aren't subjected to the supernatural dangers the Scooby Gang were. Isn't the entire point of the school to avoid that - provide a safe place for supernatural kids & give them the chance to be better than the previous generations. Freya and maybe Keelin visiting has phenomenal potential. Secure in his containment spell, armed with white oak & already possessing The Hollows power I can't see it can't be Klaus who dies but I'm convinced somehow it will be Elijah. I refuse to believe they would make the finale so obvious that Klaus has already begun to stake himself - here's hoping the loophole is something better than that ridiculous surving white oak
  6. Klaus' sire bond was broken by Davina's and the Strx in s3 of TO. It was a crossover episode with Stefan seeking refuge in NOLA and Caroline & Klaus reconnecting when she him to protect Stefan
  7. In fairness, only Klaus was in danger from Mikael. And since Henrik basically died because of Klaus's subconscious fascination with werewolves, Elijah taking Klaus away might have saved his life. Fair point, but there's also the idea that Ester became a mother by sacrificing her child and her children's children til the end of time and doing so broke Mikael who in turn further detached himself from his kids and chose Klaus as the target of his abuse not out of suspicion of his parentage but because he 'just didn't' love him. While Mikeal may have targeted Klaus subconsciously realizing the truth there's a decent possibility Kol or Henrik would have taken his place. Damn. I always hoped that Alaric's "love" for Caroline was situational - he sort of "adopted" her romantically when she became his kids' surrogate, if that makes any sense, and it had more to do with gratitude and wanting to give the twins a typical parental set-up than any real feelings for her. I also find it insulting that by giving the twins "Saltzman" as last names, they've effectively erased Jo, their real mother from their story. Yes! The "Saltzman" name choice offended me but it wouldn't have been different if Jo had lived and 'Laughlin' wasn't her real name but an attempt to distance herself from Kai and the massacre which also makes 'Parker' a poor way to honor Jo. Naming them Josie and Lizzie was perfect when Caroline was a surrogate and while Caroline assuming the role of their mother is hard to fault by itself but I also feel that Jo's been forgotten making me wish Lizzie had been named after Liv/Olivia or one of her other siblings instead. Their hasn't been much of the twins and they were so young in TVD that I'm holding a small amount of hope Jo has a place in the spinoff - if Klaus' daddy issues could last 1000 years, teenage girls should have some interest in their dead mother. Considering Caroline's part in saving his kids, how she grew to love them and help raise them getting attached or loving Caroline in some way makes sense (is the only thing that does) but despite Alaric's abysmal luck in regards to love he always had an impressive ability to move on. For that resilience to break and Ric be hung up on someone logically it should be Jo. Not just as the pregnant wife murdered mid ceremony and the mother of his kids but because Jo and Alaric had, if not a genuinely healthy relationship than by far the closest thing to it that this fandom's ever seen. Regardless I had to feel for Alaric over Caroline's reaction to him not attending her wedding, like she was also in a state of disbelief Alaric had genuine romantic feelings that were strong enough to elicit that sort of pain. But who could blame her questioning the feelings of a man who proposed knowing that the she didn't love him but would marry him anyway for the kids. Particularly when said children aren't technically hers... Speaking of... Jackson's aborted attempt to approach Hope resulting in an insane amount of screen time watching his confused face. I imagine they got someone to show Hayley wasn't alone and initially gave him a line as Jack was her stepfather and loved baby Hope. But as a stranger to Hope he really had no place interrupting her limited time with her mom - the only constant in her life, as ridiculous as Jackson's prolonged indecision looked him insinuating himself into their reunion to introduce himself would have been worse. Jackson having loved Hope and getting emotional over seeing her grown up and wanting time with her yet stopping himself makes more sense and it's the explanation I'm choosing to believe. Are we honestly suppose to ignore the fact that once again Hayley's enjoying her time with Jackson while holding out hope for another chance with Elijah?
  8. I couldn't point out all the impossibilities and fallacies of Klaus having white oak hidden for decades if I had those decades to do so. And worse it's completely unnecessary Marcel is still Mikaelson-lethal. It's beyond ridiculous and more than a little insulting. Most of the season was setting up for a spin-off and the impending doom of a girl we know can't die, we're given cheesey afterlives that we've seen destroyed instead of the abyss and bloody white oak that survived when the horse was hunted down. I've obsessed over Mikaelson family dynamics forever and I think Klaus Mikaelson's character is an epic work of art but this season has me part of me thinking season 4 should have been the finale. At this point I almost want Klaus to die even if it's by that damnable white oak just for a change. Alaric's logic was typically leaps and bounds above the rest of the Scooby gang and even with that low bar his argument of knowing too many dead vampires to be comfortable imagining them watching from the otherside won him my respect (until proposing to Caroline but different tangent) So part of me gets where Alaric is coming from that their kids involved with one of the Klaus Mikaelson's plans can't be good but what exactly does he think would happen if his refusal were the cause of Hope's death? Personally I imagine Klaus backed by his family making everything that happened in tvd somewhat comparable to a paper cut. And side note is he still in love with Caroline I realize none of his other love interests lived long for him to move on but really The Elijah x Hope bonding was enjoyable and Mikaelson-esq with always & forever having them move on without being focused on silly concepts like apologies and forgiveness. Hope's take on the tribrid miracle baby concept and Elijah's reaction to her summarizing how Hayley and Klaus got together made up for the MF tour where they stepped back into 2009. Little things - Was Elijah saying he should have taken Klaus and left Rebekah and Kol at the mercy of Mikael (and Ester) and would it really have been that difficult to remember how many Mikaelson siblings initially existed? Henrik didn't have to be mentioned by name or even a specific number of siblings saying he refused to abandon the others would have sufficed
  9. I think Alaric is the only human in both shows t hat could legitimately make a pro human argument. Despite his defense of the human race and how he desperately cling to his humanity Matt's life was the ultimate example of how unfortunate & disadvantaged humans were among the supernatural. The O'Connell family were really the only humans other than the cop in NOLA and I think we can all agree it didn't end well for any of them. I'm not totally convinced of Rebekah's desire to be human, even when offered the chance in s2 she hesitated and tried to back out when she wouldn't be able to return to her Original body rather than die of old age plus Elijah's human challenge over the cure made her miserable. Even given an entirely human life she would still have the connections and protection o d her family not to mention a 1000+ year lifespan, neither making for an average human experience. In my mind Declan had more than enough proof of the supernatural but his primary source are the journals of his infamously crazy relatives. The city's better off without the human faction especially if the others are showing consideration for the humans. The fear, panic, judgement and general hysteria along contribute nothing save their pointless power plays and them being placated or destroyed
  10. Klaus found out his daughter was dying yet he suffered in silence to support Freya's relationship and took the initiative to pick up Elijah's slack. Elijah with his endless deadly family values rejected his sister as she begged him to be there for her - just for the day and seriously walked out the door when Klaus told him his niece was dying. Seems pretty wrong that Hayley's letter brings him absolution as he ignores the news of her daughter's impending death. But he's Elijah and as tyh Klaus & Elijah dynamic have been part of practically everything since tvd s2, I expect him to have a role to play. I'm not okay with Hope's death leading the end of the the series. Not is their a spin-off revealing she won't die, Hope's barely been a character with a few dozen lines as a child before now. I'm invested in Klaus' emotional attachment but not Hope herself and secondary interest and anticipation at this stage isn't enough. I feel like the curse is important but someone please explain to me how someone fathered by Klaus and who could sire hybrids in utero is bound by the moon. -or why they can't they split the power again? Kol is a favorite and I'll argue forever over the grotesque misuse of his character and all the untapped barely alluded to potential but he him happy, content and sentimental is so strange. The dagger reference was appreciated that no matter the changes he just couldn't help himself. Being ordained twice over because the internet would somehow qualify his legally non-existent person to marry his sister, also born in the 10th century, in ways a monk would not... Who thinks informing humans of their deadly supernatural neighbors is something to do on a whim? And sorry Declan humans really are food. Was it really a coincidence that the only real peace NOLA can remember had no human faction? This ending for Marcel and Rebekah is incredibly perfect, because he's right it's never really over. If Klaus, Marcel's faked death and the multiple unforgiveable betrayals between them haven't stopped them Rebekah's yearning for humanity won't either. Klaus can't die not only has he finally shown irrefutable emotional growth and succeeded in becoming a real dad to Hope no matter how unorthodox but the tvd finale prohibits it by referencing some sort of relationship between him and Caroline that affects her significantly. If a Mikaelson dies it be Elijah not just because of everything with Hayley & owing Hope but because for the first time ever Klaus might able to live without him. For a thousand years Elijah's fought for Klaus' redemption and salvation and in a purely Mikaelson way, that fight is over
  11. The shows focus on romantic relationships just baffles me, we're shown time and time again that the Mikaelsons romantic relationships have always and will always fail if not for the plethora of ways they're incredibly damaged or the danger associated with them, the vows of always&forever and family above all. While preaching family, stressing the codependence and striving to redefine, extend and better the family the romance seems painfully out of place and often forced. Rebekah and Marcel interested me because of Marcel's mysterious and complex relationship with the family but that angle was almost entirely ignored. Hayley and Elijah were just.... Tyler & Mason triggered the curse due to compulsion, Hayley was drunk boating, the girl she helped in s3 was defense or accidental and Klaus did so as a vampire back when feeding (& killing) was actually survival. Granted the wolves like to conveniently ignore the fact they've all killed so most of them are a mystery but as it stands Hope who has premeditated murder associated with triggering the curse (Though I'm sure Oliver's story was less than innocent) The value of vampire vs human or other supernatural lives has been insanely inconsistent since TVD s1 when Stefan defends the founders cause they killed 20 something vampires not humans and they were nazi vampires involved in her mother's death so it'll probably be considered an accident. Hope's reaction still interests me seeing that she was clearly not ok with the mass murder before finding Declan and I want to see if their's a Mikaelson-esq reaction with the relief she killed a stranger rather than Declan.
  12. Klaus & Elijah and their entirely unhealthy, codependent & insanely convoluted relationship have been the center of 'The Originals' since TVD (so no matter how over Elijah I am the last episodes need to address it. Klaus stating he had his own family of him and Hope and maybe even Hayley, something above and separate from Elijah was incredibly bittersweet. Recognizing Elijah had no memories (though the lengths he went for Antoinette's family imply Hope's safety should have been of some concern despite Klaus) and trying to save him from self destruction didn't fix everything or return the status quo and that's perfect because it's the very least Hope (and Hayley) deserve. But the distance between them for once isn't dominated by anger and violence highlighting everything lost between them. Conversely it's reminiscent of Kol finally finding happiness with Davina and letting go of the obsessive sibling bonds, which is probably the healthiest thing to happen to any of them in centuries and yet no matter how destruction and dysfunctional the intense Mikaelson dynamic seeing it lessen is it's own perverse tragedy
  13. Waiting to see what freeing the ancestors at the same time Hope unleashed The Hollow's power means, probably something particularly horrific then again the show's ending it might be a ridiculous cure all. Watching Josh taking out the witch and fighting was incredible - he's been comic relief and the good loyal friend and while he's been strong and more than willing to die for his friends, we haven't seen Josh really holding his own in a fight before now... so naturally he's killed. I've always loved Josh's character and how he was the only one who remained unchanged by vampirism and his reunion with Aiden was perfect even if it makes no sense seeing as the 'other side' is gone and replaced with the abyss. The whole Ancestoral drama confuses me - are they so powerful and corrupt that the connection needs to be broken so the living are free from their influence or are they tortured in limbo and deserve to be freed? Have to say I understand Celeste's desire for peace after everything we've seen. Klaus' unique and rather questionable parenting is so right for the situation it's impressive, though I can't see him excelling when Hope's grief over killing the human and especially not the nazi vampires - hopefully he learned something from his roadtrip with Hayley in s3. Hope's finally a full fledged tribred - something I was afraid we'd never see after being taunted the entire series. I'm relieved it wasn't Declan for Hope's sake but I'm so unbelievably done with the O'Connell connections, not only is it repetitive but it makes no sense Sean and Kieran have been dead 15 years and Cami 13 there's never been any reason to believe other family including their parents were alive. Plus even if Declan actually met and remembered them as a kid Josh turned at 18, Hayley in her early 20s how does Josh having known Cami 13 years ago make the slightest bit of sense to a human? EXACTLY! I realize the shows have always blatantly ignored age differences in relationships but who sees Ric letting a 100+ vampire go to his school with his daughters without taking issue. Klaus had his 15 year old daughter kill a group of vampires to keep The Hollow from taking over, it makes a pretty unique situation. Hope obviously wasn't mentally prepared to kill and especially with triggering the curse she's forced to deal with the consequences, I'm not sure what personally burning the corpses would really accomplish. Marcel wasn't an uninvolved party, not only did he also want Emmett and co dead and would have assisted if needed but he's also Hope's family it seems natural one of them would have gone after her while the other clean up the mess. Klaus telling Marcel to take care of it to me was just him saying that he'd look after Hope who Marcel was clearly worried about - he wouldn't have withheld Josh's death for Klaus' sake
  14. I agree it's lack of information not Declan or Hayley - I can't imagine Hayley really investing herself/being open in a relationship while still in love with Elijah after everything she went through with Jack. And upon meeting Klaus, Declan seemed under the impression that Hope's dad and the infamous ex were the same person but it serves to further Mary Sue the ever loving hell out of Hayley who has apparently reached sainthood in the eyes of NOLA even when she's not standing next to the Mikaelson brothers. Mostly it's just that Elijah well and truly effed up (done little else since killing Marcel really) and dug his own grave if you acknowledge Hayley's significant role in their break up, having Elijah falsely shoulder that as well feels like it lessens his actual 'crimes.' Both by providing Elijah with a point of defense and the implication that his actions weren't severe enough to warrant this reaction if he hadn't ruthlessly walked out on Hayley. I'm just hoping that the issue is dropped but Declan ridiculously random relation to Cami doesn't give me a lot of faith in compulsion ... or decent story lines
  15. "A smile that could end a war" exaggerated and cheesy as hell but who wasn't picturing Hayley and Jackson's wedding? Can we just acknowledge that the way Elijah deals with people might be differ from Klaus, it's not really any better. As long as the Cami's secret cousin 15 yrs later angle doesn't cause history to repeat, Declan being compelled feels right. Not only did Hayley's death diminish the supernaturals relevance to Declan's life, it's clearly what Hayley wanted. He may have been thinking marriage and sheay have cared possibly loved him but Hayley was clear that she wasn't considering revealing everything - he wasn't even on vervain No desire to defend Elijah right now especially his relationship with Hayley but Declan's version of their story irked me. Hayley decided they had to be over and Elijah left for Hope and so Hayley could raise her. And regardless of the devastation it brought Elijah chose to forget his family so that he wouldn't endanger Hope trying to save Klaus. Poor Vincent his luck might rival a Mikaelson's. And so unnecessary, seriously could Marcel or Josh or any vampire not be spared to run and warn Ivy? Or even a wolf Klaus found the one scenario where he's the perfect father, it was a discerning mix of disturbing and comforting. I have to say I'm pleased Hope going through puberty wasn't the key to controlling The Hollow Vampires and werewolves are natural enemies - universally accepted since s2 of TVD but just once before TO ends I would kill to have Klaus (or any Mikaelson really) point out that feud started over a Mikaelson death and infidelity and that a millennia later they're willing to die over Klaus Mikaelson's paternity. Honestly 4 episodes left and this makes the list of what I really want to see Being mortal Freya's choices have greater consequences and if it was just her siblings I'd want her to leave with Kellin be happy and visit like a functional family but Freya's true attachment is to Hope - second to Hayley Freya has been Hope's main parental figure and Freya just referred to Hope as the child she never got to raise. With Hope self destructing from a spell Freya helped her with I'm not convinced Freya has it in her to leave. Though why Klaus and Hope stay in NOLA at this point is beyond me, Klaus finally learned there are more important things and hasn't taken any interest in the city itself while it seems Hope spent most of her time in MF. Essentially a Mikaelson is happily in love and that's usually the calm before the storm
