I don't mind him either.  He's actually relatable, in a way.  He's not perfect, he's made mistakes and he definitely has self doubts.  He's also still trying to find himself and figure out his place in both the hospital and the world as a whole.  He's... human.

Exactly! That’s how I feel. You can definitely relate to him.

  2. So I’m obviously in the minority but I really like Schmidt! I find him endearing and I think he’s grown so much since he started. I don’t understand the hate for him.....😳

  3. I thought this when the scene happened and I think it was confirmed on Twitter with a photo but that denim jacket Betty was wearing when she met Donna for a second time in the forest was Jughead’s surely??? Is that meant to be symbolic? Is it meant to tell us that she’d met up with Jughead beforehand? I still can’t quite believe that they would kill him off but have no clue what’s going on! 😂 I do hope whatever is happening, they’ve let FP in on it because that would just be cruel.

I don't mind the character April. I hated that ASP used it as a plot device.

Same! I loved April and was so hoping for scenes with her, Luke, Lorelai and Rory as a proper family. I thought that would be really cool. I always believed that Rory and April would get on really well and it would have been nice to see that sibling relationship and them teasing Lorelai and Luke. Even maybe with Jess thrown in every so often as well. I’ve read some fan fiction with them all as a family and I would have loved to have seen that on screen.

I was honest to goodness embarrassed for Lorelai in the Revival when she was trying to flirt her way past the park ranger or whoever he was. No, Lorelai. Just no. Your time to flirt your way out of situations with men is past, sorry to break it to you.

(It's funny when Babette and Miss Patty do it because they don't take themselves seriously. Lorelai was still taking herself seriously.)

To be fair though, I think they only had that in because he was Lauren’s real life partner and it was funny.

  6. I don’t know if this is random enough but I always loved it!

Jess realising before Luke that Liz’s friend had obviously ordered a stripper to show up for Liz and he makes a hasty retreat and then waves to Luke through the window.

So much of what the show played for laughs were things that showed she really wasn't a nice person (Lorelai too, but she had more redeeming qualities) - making fun of Christmas card pictures comes to mind. Lorelai though seemed to be genuinely thoughtful toward many other people in her life.  I never saw Rory go out of her life to do something thoughtful for someone else.

I agree that Rory could be selfish but to be fair to her she has definitely done a lot of thoughtful things for Paris. Like she let her do whatever she wanted when Asher died and she supported her with the wake that Paris wanted to hold.

  8. Luke hugs Jess after he thanks Luke for everything.

Luke hugs Jess after telling him how proud he is at Truncheon.

Luke hugs April after telling her he can’t have any more secret visits from her and tells her to put her helmet on.

Luke hugs April after she breaks down about having to go to New Mexico.

I think April is an unfortunate plot contrivance by ASP, and I can't stand the character Jess, so no, they could both disappear and I'd be happy.

Haha fair enough! 😜 I actually really loved April. I hated the way ASP wrote her in and what it did to Luke and Lorelai but I really liked April. It wasn’t her fault, after all.

  10. Did anyone wish we had more Jess and April scenes? I always thought they would get on well and they are cousins so I always wished there would have been more scenes between them. I’m writing a story at the moment on fanfiction.net which has a big family feeling with Luke, Lorelai, Rory, Jess and April. I kind of wished we could have had more family scenes like that in the revival. Does anyone think the same or is that just me? 😜😄

The thing I never could get over was when Dean showed up (uninvited) on Rory's Friday alone night and found Jess and Paris there, he wouldn't stop screaming at Rory and she didn't demand an apology and instead apologized to him. I stopped liking him then forever. Why was she such a doormat sometimes?

Even Paris could see that was wrong and so decided to help Rory out. I really didn’t like Dean in that episode either but I loved how that was the episode that sort of started Rory and Paris’ friendship. I always thought that Rory inviting Paris to sleep over as a thank you and her appreciating what she had done for her was really sweet. 😊

  12. I’ve written some L and L stories. They’re not as great as the writers you’ve all mentioned because they’re really amazing writers and I love their stories. But I have written a few I’m proud of. 😊

  13. I think the thing with Lorelai is that she always expected Rory to be on her side and always think the way she thinks so when Rory calls her out on stuff and wants to do stuff that’s not really Lorelai’s thing, she’s shocked and she acts out in a really petty way.

Would you rather live in Babette's Hobbit House or Luke's apartment over the diner?

Luke’s diner! Constant access to food! ?

Would you rather work for Luke at the diner or work for Lorelai at the inn?

Jackson also had a cute relationship with Rory. And he wasn't trying to get into her pants, her mother's pants, or related to her.

I also enjoyed Rory and Doyle's relationship.

Lorelai and Jackson were friends too. Lorelai had great banter with Tom.

Aw yeah I love Jackson’s relationship with Rory as well. And Doyle’s! ?

I'm annoyed that every male character on this show was only nice to R and L bc they were related to them or wanted in their pants.

That includes Chris and Luke who pretty much were into Rory mostly as a means to get to Lorelai.

But we are supposed to like these guys?

Luke wasn’t into Rory to get with Lorelai. They had their own separate relationship.

  17. I totally agree. Maybe it was wrong to constantly pursue Rory while she was with Dean and deliberately wind Dean up but Jess didn’t actually do anything while they were together. Rory was the one who kissed him in season 2, not the other way round. And I don’t think he got enough credit for breaking up with Shane before letting things happen between him and Rory as well. Sure, maybe he was using Shane a bit to make Rory jealous but Dean slept with Rory when he was still married to Lindsey. And Jess is the bad guy?? I get that Jess wasn’t perfect but Dean wasn’t either.

They really did. I loved watching them learn how to compromise and come together. Definitely the better mother-daughter story, IMO.

I love the fact that Mrs Kim was th reason Hep Alien didn’t break up in the end. It was her who arranged the tour for them and brought the four bandmates back together with their love of music. I just loved the full circle feel of it all. Mrs Kim kicked Lane out because of Lane’s love of music and being part of the band but in the end, she was actually the reason they didn’t all give up. I found it a really heartwarming moment. ?

I think another post from quite a while ago hit the nail right in the head when saying that you can't define "close friends" in the same way for everybody - especially when we're talking about an introvert like Luke who's not the type to get together with people frequently. That said, I do think he socialized with Lorelai plenty for his standards - they saw and talked to each other at the diner everyday and were almost always up to what was going on with the other.

Luke came over for dinner at her house and for the Casablanca movie night at Lorelai's invitation. They had lunch in the gazebo for the town basket event. They ate together in Thanksgiving every year. He went to Rory's birthday party and Lorelai's engagement party (even though I'm sure that he wasn't fond of crowded environments and he would've had declined to attend had it not been for them). Lorelai helped him paint the diner, accompanied him to Louie's funeral, helped him look for an apartment for him & Jess, bailed him out of jail, and gave him advice on Rachel, Nicole and Jess. Luke taught her how to fish, built a chuppah for her wedding, practically dropped everything to be there for her during a family emergency, shoveled her drive when it snowed, fixed the catwalk at the inn solely for Lorelai's sake and went to the Bracebridge dinner to support her. Not only does he insist on doing all the repairs in Lorelai's house (going as far as lecturing her for wasting money by hiring someone to do something he could gladly do for free) but he loans her a major amount of money without as much as a moment's hesitation.

And while it's true that they rarely hung out in a lot of formally scheduled plans, there's no doubt in my mind that if it came down to it - as in if for some reason Lorelai's circumstances changed or she couldn't come into the diner anymore, they would've worked out a way to spend time with each other.

Furthermore, I think the way they act around each other is pretty telling in its own right. They're never more comfortable and truer to themselves than when they are with each other. Lorelai confides on him in a way she can't with Rory, Sookie or Chris. And the same goes for Luke. When he's feeling troubled, when he needs a second opinion, when he just needs someone to vent to - who does he call? Who does he go to? When all is said and done, who is the one person he cares about the most? Lorelai.

In my opinion, LL are extremely close friends who consider themselves as such (hence why Lorelai is incensed when he doesn't tell her moved and Luke is so taken aback when Lorelai tells him that they are not friends). That's actually the reason I ship them - they love each other both romantically and platonically, but the platonic part was just as important. As a matter of fact, their closeness lent credence to their reluctance to acknowledge their feelings and pursue a romantic relationship - they were practically family to each other. Why on earth would they want to jeopardize that?

I totally agree. And don’t forget all the times when Lorelai alone or when she’s with Rory goes to the diner outside of the normal opening hours and Luke always lets them in.
