Wondering why would Carl choose to have the conversations about his parents concerns with Lindsey on camera. It's either A) he was afraid of her reaction & thought on camera was safer, or B) he's purposely laying the groundwork/building a storyline on why he backed out of the wedding.

I understand why she has blinders on, desperately hoping to get to the altar with someone, anyone. But, it doesn't make a lot of sense why Carl waited as long as he did to pull the plug, unless he was strategically trying to cultivate a storyline and curry favor with the viewers. Hmm.

Paige & Craig are like opposite of Carl & Lindsey. It's apparent that they've had multiple conversations off camera and have strategized/agreed on what they'll share on camera. The picnic lunch discussion was completely staged. I'm 99% sure that Craig has the ring, they've discussed exactly when/where they'll get engaged, and they've decided on their long term plan.

While I get that West & Ciara aren't committed so he's within his rights to chat up other women, I also understand why Ciara would be hurt by the news. IMHO, typically when you meet someone you're interested in, they become your main focus, even before there's a label slapped on it.

Plus, I don't like how he's continually using the lack of sex to as a reason why he's not committed. I miss the old days of dating when you often announced yourselves as a couple before banging like bunnies.

Carl & Lindsey: I think he is scared of Lindsey and avoidant/scared of looking like the bad guy in general. He seems to be a pleaser type of person in need of approval which causes him to be manipulative. See how he handled Loverboy too.

Lindsay appears to fear rejection and crave a nuclear family at all costs. From all the seasons I have seen her, I didn't know the stuff about her mom but that wound might be the origin of her problems bonding with female castmates. Also, her forcefulness for commitment and engagement with guys before Carl seems to point to her having a timetable that each guy has more and more pressure to meet. They are the perfect combo for a last-minute bomb drop like they had. I'm just glad Carl didn't go on a bender and not get on the plane for the wedding to sabotage it.

I agree with all the points about Paige and Craig. My daughter has a crush on Craig for some reason and adds "but not as cute as Craig" to all observations of cute boys.

West & Ciara: I'm with you about missing the good old days. Also, my BFF made the observation when we were in college and I always use it as a checkpoint, "You're allowed to feel whatever you feel and it's valid. But, what you aren't allowed is to act and say whatever based on those feelings." That inner voice has saved me many times.

I pegged Chloe early on as a phony and I still believe that.  If anyone is into "optics" it's her.  She kept herself apart from the others and is now blaming it on them to look better than them, to steal back all the attention and support from the audience because she probably didn't think she got enough of it next to the pink posse.

If the other women had kept her out we would have seen some evidence of that on the screen.  She never acted like they were ostracizing her in front of them.  In fact it looked like she didn't want to be a part of them because their fight was not her fight and she looked down on them for their behavior. And would the show refrain from using that as drama if it happened?  I doubt it.

I think she stole Lauren's position from her on purpose.  She kept herself away from the pink posse because she knew it would make her look above them.  People were saying that all season, not just me.  She took advantage of the fact that Lauren stuck by the others to make herself look like the one that was above all the women.  I don't buy her for one minute.  She said some nasty things about the women behind their backs in this episode but they never had ONE bad thing to say about her except when Lauren revealed what happened between them and even then Lauren didn't insult her, just told the story.  Every time Chloe has been on screen with the other women the energy from them to her is benign but she looks like the one who is holding herself back.  So I don't buy her AT ALL.  She is hiding a lot of nastiness under that phony exterior.  There is not one genuine bone in her body.  She strikes me as the real narcissist here.  It's definitely not Lauren.  YMMV.

I have never heard a "healed" person speak so poorly about people they claim to have no relationship with. Then Chloe was mad at someone for following her ex on social as she not only followed one of the pink posse's ex's but hung out with all of them in real life. Michael will see how friendly she is if he meets someone and starts to seriously date them before she does.

  3. Carl is the male version of "Just Be Good to Me" that I see with women where they love a guy who doesn't treat people the best but their love is different.

They will be special to this person. Even though the partner runs over colleagues, friends who cross them, subordinates, and even family members they perceive as threatening in a situation, the love partner doesn't see those as signs of how they will one day be treated. How things went with an ex or two is somehow different from their situation too. Their bond is different. Their love is transcendent and how this person behaves when they perceive a threat won't come into play.

"When people show you who they are..." has become kind of cliche for a reason.

  4. I assume some of these ladies have not competed much. Yes, (according to what production provides) Maria is in there having extra private time with Joey. How does sitting around complaining about it and calling it "disrespectful" solve it? 1) it's not her job to manage your joey time 2) joey is in there making out with her not ordering her to leave so her can spend more time with u.

If it's so important to you go get your man. If you want to feel disrespected, she's the wrong target. Neither one of these people owe u anything so go into another room and feel your feelings then get back in the game. But for now you sound unhinged.

I disliked Maria since day 1 and said as much back then. However, there’s a difference between having an off-putting personality and being a bully. And that’s where the likes of Sydney and Lea are losing me with their bullying accusations and calling her the devil, etc—making me now have to defend Maria. Now, if you called her a temptress or seductress or called out her abrasiveness, okay. But it’s not “bullying” to go put on some lingerie getup during a group date—despite the audacity of it all—or to wear scraps of fabric that barely cover your body at any given time. (Where does she find so many skimpy dresses?!?) the women are intimidated by her. And people often feel intimidated by bullies. But this does not mean she is bullying them. She is just existing and this is why the existence of her in their vicinity bothers Sydney and Lea so much. They see her swanning around with confidence and being a bit loud while exuding  so much sex appeal that they feel more self-conscious in comparison just being near her. Then they try to knock her down a peg, but she’s refusing to even engage in a tit for tat. She’s just asking for facts on what she said or did. The problem is, she didn’t really “do” anything other than having an aura of superiority via an abundance of confidence and sex appeal. And it’s just intimidating to be near—despite Maria not actually trying to intimidate the rest of them. There’s nothing more to it than the audacity of her confidence that some of these girls can’t get over. Part of me wonders how much of it is an act, though. She kind of still has a bit of “ugly duckling” about her that the “swan” preening seems to be covering up for. Like, if she just dressed and acted like the rest of them, her face is a little homely. It seems like she really is over-compensating—you don’t need to dress sexy 24/7. But, again, this isn’t bullying.

I also believe someone like Sydney has gotten by on signifying American pretty (blond, thin, angular Euro facial features) without actually having to back it up or develop anything else. So, she doesn't have much to "fight" with if that doesn't wow or intimate others sufficiently. At that point, victimhood and feigning a need for protection are what's left.

Lea, is just too young. I can't get a good read on her yet outside of immaturity trying to mix in and find her group. It's like she skipped a couple of grades in high school and is trying to seem more mature.

  6. Really all of them except maybe Phaedra, are deferential and I seem afraid of Jackie. I don't understand it unless they believe she is production's pet. The way she crumbles for Curtis and his nutcracker knees, that kills any mystique for me. Well that, her terrible bedside manner and respectibility politic kill it.

Although I'm no enthusiastic supporter of Tea, she does highlight an oncoming issue with this show. What is this going to be?  Will there be a mix of older gen x, millennials and maybe a little z or just older x demanding "respect" when threatened? If everyone isn't equal in the relationships, why would anyone under 45 watch this? Is it housewife type "reality" craziness or a family reunion where anytime elders are confronted, they go to "little girl" talk & try to treat younger cast members like children because I don't see how that's sustainable long term.

I have sneaking, cynical suspicion that it’s the old “Black Guy Dies” trope. Someone a few weeks ago correctly called out that POC have never fared well on this show—I didn’t watch season 4 so I have no idea what happened there—and it looks like they were right. Indira made it out okay but her happy ending  was basically becoming Lorraine’s assistant. Make of that what you will.

Watching the show I thought more than once how much I wish this character was not cast BIPOC or written differently. This episode sealed it. He was straight from The American Society of Magic Negroes moral to his own detriment with a great reward in the sweet by and by. I assume Roy's unnamed henchman gave him balance.😄

At least Roy will suffer in prison though.

I like this show better than Shelter and Stay Close. Don’t stop watching after one episode.

For someone with combat experience, Maya is really bad at strategising and self-restraint. She has no problem revealing to Izabella about the secret nanny cam in the playroom. Rushing to show the nanny cam clip to her nanny, she doesn’t even bother to make a copy of that file. She also doesn’t know when to STFU, easily telling people about her findings. Why is she so trusting?

This series can actually be wrapped up in less than 6 episodes. The subplots re Claire’s other son and all the football practices, are they really necessary?

Someone else who found Maya's lack of strategery (Bush II), forethought, and self-restraint mind-boggling. Yeah! How in god's name did she ever get promoted? If presented with a list of the top 3 options for a situation, she picked #5 85% of the time and #4 10%. It was beyond. Does someone who read the book know if this was explained?

6 episodes...Thank you! The lack of succinct storytelling was so bothersome. My annoyance with wasted time kept rising over the last two episodes.

I saw Harlan on CBS This Morning a couple of days ago acting like the clever cat who swallowed the canary, I wanted to pelt him with fruit. LOL

So much to unpack. Juan hanging up on Robyn is now the official Carlton dance of Bravo. It never gets old and it's always funny.

Gizelle please stop pretending that Candiace said you treat people different because of the color of their skin. The audience should not let her get off that easy. You know GD WELL you benefit from pretty privileges and in turn, Robyn (who must have been named by the universe because she is the most loyal sidekick ever) is part of your package deal. People have been let go from Bravo for far less but there you sit, in your TEMU lace fronts making false accusations and attacking a different marriage every season. She needs to stop acting like the colorist conversation is about her being racist. And it really ripped my drawers when her and Karen said "we have brown skinned girls." Chile, just say you can't be racist because your best friend is black and you don't see color because that is the same energy. Loving your kids is not factored into what C was saying. I personally don't think Gizelle herself is colorist. I do think she is a soul sucking piece of shit that has gotten by on her looks. But her employer is colorist and so are some of the fans and I'm not being talked down from my opinion.

All of them are beautiful IMO. This is the prettiest housewives cast in my eyes from the beginning. But G is both beautiful and fair skin. And if I was her, I wouldn't apologize for it. Nothing she can do about it, she was simply born and hit the DNA lottery. It's not her fault, but stop doing your impression of Stevie Wonder and pretending you are being labeled a racist because you are light skinned. A few castmates have eluded to the fact that she gets away with things because of how she looks - Wendy, Katie, Ray, Monique. She wore that pretty privilege like a badge of honor. But Candiace had the unmitigated gall to call it exactly what it was and that is why she is mad.

    Girl just stop.

I agree with most of you points except I do believe G is colorist when it comes to the type of life she believes she is owed. It might be a classist, pretty priv, colorist combo but she and Robyn for that matter can get no rest knowing Monique (while on the show), Wendy, and Candiace have/had happy families, homes, and financial means that are better than there's.

It tells me something that neither of them wastes a second of care on what Charisse has but are constantly bothered by any advancements of the other 3. See the dumb hissy fit Robyn and G had about Wendy's bodywork and how they went out of their way to make it their storylines.

Lastly, Oscar is an idiot. I find it quite funny, though, that the lawyer/banker/whatever guy said Oscar was using Maud Beaton. If Oscar is being scammed, his own greed makes him the perfect mark.

It's nearly impossible to con a mark without their cooperation. The more of their idea the transaction is, the easier it is to get away once discovered.

"You begged me to take your money Oscar" and "I warned you that using Ms. Beaton's name was a bad idea."

^ that dress made her look like a linebacker. What an odd choice.

Is Jenna braless in a sheer top?

I thought it was a bad choice too. It was very 80's formal and too heavy as well as the boardness in the shoulders you mentioned.

On all of the reunions, I wonder if the women photograph themselves sitting on a couch in the dresses prior to selection because if they do and still select some of these, I'm confused.

  12. After looking at this thread, I realized I am from the same geographical area as Emily and that might be why I didn't take to her from the first scene on the boat. I also can't believe she is only 28. That is surprising.

I think the Snuffleupagus is a Rorschach test for how these women see themselves and the beliefs they project onto other women based on the subject's body shape/perceived condition.

It's obvious every single one of them is afraid of aging. Combining that with their replacement of inner work with status, money and other outside markers of success, their "friendships" are going to be terrible. See Tamra being sure to talk about all of Jenn's fake designer wear.

I don't like Heather but I do think part of the hostility she gets is because in this group, she is perceived as winning. I think Heather with a $200,000 net worth, MLM husband, and 20 lbs she would be received much better within this bunch.

  14. Brynn's embryo v eggs conversation was very similar to what I was told by a fertility doctor. It was a few years ago so, things may have changed but she advised me that without a doubt freezing/thawing embryos was more successful and studied than utilizing previously frozen eggs. It was a very frank conversation at my request and at that time, her opinion was that some clinics were making long term egg freezing sound like the holy grail in part for financial reasons.

  15. Am I the only one who doesn't understand how paying a racist $10k per month is punishment? Is a private talking to supposed to do the trick nowadays? That lady would be a terrible landlord and definitely wouldn't renew Izzy's lease at the end of the term. They could have skipped that whole thing.

It's like the old storylines where the aggrieved person who was treated poorly in a store would go back and buy thousands of dollars of merchandise to teach them a lesson I guess and give the clerk a huge commission in the process. I wish someone would get me back like that.

Apologies for the name. I was doing too many things at once and mistyped.

She kept saying their relationship is long distance so, that's why we thought it was. Either way, Bria is still a lot.

and I'm good with that. I believe him to be an 1920s-30s style European "admirer" of Black culture and I have no problem with him paying for access while knowing his place as an observer.

My husband is also of the opinion that a major part of why Silas has so much patience for Bria's drama and her personality, in general, is because he has other women in the rotation closer to home.

    Ok, I'll stoop.

In the trailer, she actually brings up the intimacy thing to him and he immediately pivots to his pimp outfits.

"Like, ah, yeah" he was cheating on you with his life partner dummy. Such a deflection. How he got away with that “answer” is unreal, but then again it was with the round-headed failed pageant participant who most likely forgot what she was talking about.

    Because she is dumb.

I absolutely agree that Raqu(ch)el is unintelligent and appears simpleminded/dense. I am on a long-term journey to be very specific with my words so, "dumb" no longer fits because it is historically loaded and general.

What I am unsure of is whether her condition is curable. Ignorance is curable with education but, is someone who is inherently unable to see deeply into thoughts, actions, and motivations or comprehend deep thought changeable? I'm also unsure how much of her condition is by choice and how much is inherent which is a big part of the answer.

Anyway, I don't enjoy her presentation, voice, or bewildered facial expression and even at that, I'm getting bored with the pile-on. I will drop back in for part 3 and see where it goes but I'm fine with less of her and Lord Pornstache Coverband in my life moving forward.

This might be one of the best things to ever happen to Ariana's professional life though so, I think she needs to tread lightly going forward to make sure she makes the most of the current public good-will heading in her direction.

  19. Maybe I missed someone else talking about it but when Tom was having his tantrum about being filmed talking to Rachel outside the trailer, the coat/outfit was giving the main character in a Nora Ephron movie. If that outfit was any other neutral except black, I absolutely see Diane Keaton rocking it.

I finally caught up on all episodes. I don't understand why Olivia's parents approved of Mr. Daniel's proposal. She's 16, and they think marriage will make the scandal ok. The whole storyline has been crazy. Hope the finale will fix this.

Plus we need Richie back, but I don't know how they'll manage it.

I have been conflicted on this storyline too. I HATE the normalization of "we're in love" between a 16 yr old girl and a grown-ass man who is also her teacher and who demonstrated he will throw her under the bus to save himself if deemed necessary. I am watching with my kid and keep having the conversation about how wrecked this dynamic is. But, I do understand this was common back then just like the secret "favor" the doctor did for the rich girl to keep her sterling reputation intact.
