I'm with you here. Bran and Arya especially have been mostly supporting characters these past seasons.

Well, Braavos only exists because Arya (and a little bit because the Iron Bank). That's a lot for a "supporting" character.

But yes, that means that the show fucked up even more than we thought by not taking proper care of the Stark kids' storylines.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Arya screentime is the 85% (maybe more, maybe less) of Dany screentime. She has a character arc waiting its conclusion too.

I dunno. I thought so, too, at first, but Cogman (I think) said that the “That’s not you” scene with Nymeria, where she realizes that Nymeria won’t be anyone’s pet, “might be foreshadowing” for Arya’s end. If Arya at the end of S8 was going to pull a Nymeria and go off on her merry way, would they really spoil it so blatantly?

You have a point there, but then, how many people watch/read that behind of scenes commentaries?. And from that number , how many will conclude exactly the same ending?

I also think Maisie has low key implied that Arya’s S8 ending was a bit of a WTF for her, which heading off to have adventures and happily leaving Winterfell to Sansa or Bran or whomever would not be.

The problem is we don't know what she expected before reading.

She asks if she can be a lord of the holdfast and Ned counters that she'll marry a high lord and rule his castle and her sons will be knights, lords and princes.

She responds that that's not her(a family woman).

In the books, she counters that's not her, that's Sansa.

I think we need to add the Season 1 "that's not me" with the "that's not you" (Nymeria scene) of Season 7

Petyr is definitely a genius. He was outgambitting everyone.

I doubt he was outgambitting everyone. He was just lying and gambling, lying and gambling in the middle of the chaos. Eventually the lies caught up with him.

I think Petyr was a genius, but after having so many successes he grew too confident and sure of his own abilities, which caused him to be less cautious and make more mistakes.

This talk of the three of them being a perfect unit makes me wonder what they are going to be like next season when Dany arrives. We know Sansa will be unhappy, but it's assumed Arya will accept Dany quickly (because of Dany being a warrior queen, Arya trusting Jon etc..) If Sansa is having trouble with Jon's decision here, you would think that this would cause division between the Stark girls. So maybe Arya is also unsure of Dany's presence. That said, with Jon now around to defend his decisions and Arya now having more respect for Sansa, perhaps the two will handle disagreements between them in a more reasonable manner and even when they are in disagreement, they are able to work through it. That could be a good way of showing their growth from last season.

About Petyr, I agree to disagree. In my opinion, Petyr was a gambler and a liar with a horrible lack of scruples.

About Arya and Dany, I think Arya trust a very small number of people. Dany will be a new person in Arya's life, therefore she is not part of that small number.

and him and Arya were basically done with each other at the end of season 4 - she left him to die painfully for what he did to Mycah.

Well, the show included enough scenes post season 4 to make it (the reason why Arya left him) much more complex than that. That is precisely why I think D&D will include an Arya-Hound plotline in season 8.

Since they already used it once to discredit her, Tyrion can use it for whatever gain he wants should he see how the North reacts.

Only Lyanna. And many of the Lords of the North change their opinions easily. Finally, Tyrion will not use it against Sansa because that is not the Tyrion of the show.

As I see it something needs to bring Show Tyrion closer to his book Tyrion, and book Tyrion has a lot of resentment, on how he's treated, Sansa leaving KL, Not willing to bend the knee in the wedding, etc.

They (Book!Tyrion and Show!Tyrion) can have the "same" endgame, each one with his own personality.

Well...LF had patented and mass produced his teleporter sometime in S6 (Varys had bought one already at the end of S6) because everyone had one in S7. The CG could very well use one too and make it to WF before Jamie.

Even if they sometimes rush plotlines, they keep the order of the elements in the narrative.

It's been discussed before, but for Tyrion to betray the Starks/Dany and be executed in Season 8 as Friki has described, a lot of very unlikely things have to be true.

    Agree.

And I don't think there will be Tyrion/Sansa romance, but I think the same as you: it will be so much fun to watch Sophie and Peter on screen together again. Or Rory and Maisie. Their acting improves when they share the same scene.

IS jAIME GETTING THERE AT THE SAME TIME?, i THOUGHT HE GETS THERE AS wf IS BURNING. ( Sorry caps lock hit ).

The other thing I put forth was Tyrion tries to rekindle the friendship / marriage and Sansa refuses him ( following his book arc and her stubborn Stark knees. ).

First, about Jaime. He will arrive first WF. The GC needs first to arrive KL before ever thinking on going WF.

Second, about Tyrion. I doubt show!Tyrion does that. It's simply doesn't fit with his show!personality.

I did very much appreciate the Starks coming together narrative in Sophie and Maisies interviews.

I like that too. I just don't want any endgame with Arya as Master of Spies or Kingsguard leader or any way she serves any King or Queen (even if it's a Stark in the Throne or even if it's in WF).

    1 hour ago, Minneapple said:

But, I will continue to take anything the actors say with a grain of salt. I mean if you look at the scripts and then consider Sophie's interviews, they're all a big contradictory mess. And then if you consider how those match up with anything onscreen....they don't. It's an even worse mess.

We have what we see on screen. The rest? It's mostly publicity.

  11. Actors recaps of their characters, the interviews and the scripts made me think 4 things:

    1) Now I find harder to imagine Tyrion betraying the Starks. It's simply not "organic" with the rest of the narrative.

2)It will not be Tyrion betraying Dany either. But he is afraid of Dany becoming the Mad King. That will generate a problem within the Living Team.

3)I don't see any proof of Sansan within the narrative. And there is not "romance by surprise" in the show. Ever (at least that I remember)

4)Arya new goals? Simple. Finding peace.

  12. I really don't get why to "fit" the very little we know about season 8 (if those "leaks/spoilers" are actually accurate) with any theory about the plot we will see on screen, we suddenly need to forget everything we saw on screen in the previous 7 seasons about the characters
