  1. I have never in my life watched this show. As a kid I would immediately change the channel if reruns were on. It just felt like it was a really depressing show to 10 year-old me. Also, I'm a latina so I guess I also couldn't relate culturally at the time. But I thoroughly enjoy experiencing this show through the podcast, which is much more fun and much less tragic then watching Pa's crop fail for nth time. Or when you told us that one of the girls eventually goes blind. That's so grim! No wonder I avoided this show! So thanks, Kim Reed!

  2. New show: Mrs. Nev and Mrs. Max are the new Catfish hosts but Mrs. Max only communicates in Portuguese. We get the subtitled comments such as "Mrs Nev is an idiot. Why do I put up with this nonsense?" and such.

Also, Hulu stopped updating the show a while back so I haven't actually seen Mrs. Nev on the new episodes. I can't attest to everyone's annoyance with her yet, but I'll take your word for it.

Anyone else think this show is kind of boring when it all works out?

  3. Are y'all going to do the new Jason Priestley series, Private Eyes, which FB keeps showing me as one of their ads? We have to know if he's learned to use pockets now! And if he still brays!

PS: I haven't been able to comment on anything unless I comment through the forum. But if I click directly on the visual aids link and try to post at the bottom, it won't let me. It freezes.

  4.  I was completely indifferent to AP Bio. Meh. Didn't laugh, didn't hate it. Probably won't watch...I tried the first 2 eps, unless someone wants to tell me it gets a lot better in the next 2?

  5. I think he was lying about being engaged. I think he just didn't want to say "I'm shallow and don't even want to get to know you in person now that I saw you." Because what a coincidence that his engagement fell through later on. It's not like he suddenly developed self-awareness in the span of a couple of weeks.

  6. I listened to the podcast last night and I re-watched most of the documentary. I think the migraine theory is sound. Especially since people at the McDonald's where they stopped said she didn't seem drunk, but then again she may simply have had a very high tolerance. If she did ask for Tylenol at the gas station and couldn't get any, did she then chug a giant bottle of vodka? Wouldn't that have been pretty obvious to the kids (the older niece did make a call but didn't say anything about her drinking). I just keep thinking that if I was in a lot of pain and my brother told me to stay put, that he was coming to help me, that I would have stayed put because I would not want to drive if I was so miserable. I would want to curl up by the side of the road and wait for help. I just don't understand the thought process that urged her to keep going. I guess that was the alcohol taking hold. But both alcohol and marijuana are depressants so you'd think that between all that it would have made her just want to stop and sleep or something.

The husband is in so much denial though. Ugh. I hope things have gotten somewhat better for Bryan since this happened.

  7. Our commencement was divided up by college (of science/Liberals/engineering etc). There's 7 colleges and they divide those into 2 commencement ceremonies, one in the morning, one in the evening. One year there were so many students that they divided it into three. And no, I did not get to sit anywhere near my friends, even the ones in the same college. We were split up alphabetically. But yes, we did individually cross the stage, shake the hands and pose for pictures at the bottom of the stairs.

  8. Ok, having listened to the podcast AND looked over the visual aids I am still confused by the Dylan Cannon. Can someone please explain the reference? Who is that woman? What are we talking about? Just Carey Grant's daughter being an extra?
