  1. I'd read about The Challenge often by a poster here. I watched maybe 4 of the episodes online before I was told I'd have to pay to continue watching. Ain't no way. Victor was on it.

Every episode was full of this:

'I have a vendetta against her because she knew I wanted to fuck that guy but she fucked him first.'

And the guys. 'I have a vendetta against him because he knew I wanted to fuck that girl but he fucked her first'.

Gag-worthy. But at least in the episodes I saw, Victor stayed out of that stuff.

Worse than anything I've EVER seen on Big Brother.

Christie as a "life coach"?  The woman who told a cab driver to run people over who were in her way?  As Tiffany Haddish would say...... mmmmmhmmmm.

This was years ago, and my memory is old now. Heh. But I seem to recall Colin saying Christie would never be on another reality TV show because of how it was falsely edited.

She DID say 'Run them over!' at some point, but it was not when she saw the people crossing the street. Maybe it was ducks or something. But they inserted it at the people attempting to cross the street. And I do remember hearing her voice say that when the people were attempting to cross, but it was only in a voice-over. The camera was not on her face.

Granted, whenever she said 'Run them over!' isn't excusable, but she apparently didn't say at the people.

I'm not totally sad about the boot list.  I'm glad Rupert is next.  Hopefully this is his last hurrah on the reality show circuit.

Sing it. I just hope we don't get another 'Wo is me. There go my hopes and dreams' speech. But I wouldn't be surprised if we DO get another 'I did this for my wife and my daughter' schpiel.

Maybe I'm a TAR snob (OK, I know I'm a TAR snob), but my opinion is that TAR fans and the "true" racers (non-stunt casted) are a different breed of reality show contestants.  They're truly there for the RACE.

Stunt cast or not, why automatically assume that the Racers there are NOT actually there to RACE?

I am still hoping Reem wins her way back in and wins the season because that is about the best worst ending that I can imagine.

    FTFY(?)  😉

    I agree with that FTFY.

  6. I was debating whether or not to say anything about this episode at all, because I just found it to be very boring. Not much to be said.

But maybe that's a point for me to make. I found the LAST few seasons to be extremely entertaining. I even started to like it more than TAR, which is generally unusual for me.

I didn't find that clusterfuck of a Tribal Council to be shocking, or even interesting.

To me, Survivor is becoming Talk Talk Talk about alliances, then a challenge. Then more Talk Talk Talk, then (usually) another challenge. Then more Talk Talk Talk about alliances, then TC.

And it seems to me, they're now editing all TC's to make the one voted off a seem like a Big Blindside. It's all getting very rote.

When I watch the show, I just wanna kick back and enjoy what I'm watching. But this season, it's hard to care. I appreciate the fact that SVNBob takes the time and energy tracking who's aligned with who, but why should that be necessary?

    Enough said, I guess.

No, he was an unsure of himself person who wasn't as intelligent as his father (a professor) and other members of his family despite their support of him so suffered somewhat from low self esteem.  I have seen enough of these people to ALWAYS pull for them in life.  And with Rupert, on reality shows.

I don't play armchair psychologist. You, yourself said other members of his family supported him. I just plain don't like the guy.

I think you might be overrating surprise and underrating suspense.  Idols coming out of nowhere would be surprising, but I think the suspense of wondering if a players is going to use an idol or not is better.

In a movie, a bomb going off out of nowhere is generally less exciting than the suspense of knowing there is a bomb on the plane, in the school, etc. and wondering if it will go off.

I agree that not knowing if anyone has a HII, then suddenly someone pulls it out at TC would be a surprise, but maybe only a 5 second shock. It's much more interesting if we know who has them, then wonder if anyone will play it.

Not for nothing, but are you a Hitchcock fan? I admit I am and he described the difference between shock and suspense (he was known as the Master of Suspense). He said, paraphrased..

'If two men are sitting at a table in a restaurant and suddenly a bomb goes off, that's SHOCK. And it doesn't last for long.  But if you SHOW the audience the bomb under the table, and the men are just talking, the audience will be thinking, Don't just sit there talking, there's a BOMB under the table. And they'll be wondering and waiting if and when it will go off. That's SUSPENSE.'

As for Rupert I think if he was your typical empty-headed 20-something mactor people wouldn't be so down on him so much.  But how dare a regular guy want to extend his 15 minutes of fame.  The horror!  The horror!  That's why I will always be in Rupert's corner.

That doesn't apply to me. I never saw him as a 'regular guy'. I ALWAYS saw him as a self-centered, entitled, 'Look At Me' kind of guy. An attention-getter. Ferchrissakes, in his first season, he gave a TH about how nobody should resent him for winning, because they'd be finishing in places of honor. WTF? Then when he was voted out, his final words were something like, 'Well, there go my hopes and dreams. I should have known better than to hope for something more.' WahWah. He was an empty-headed 30-something, full of himself.

And let's not forget, after John tossed a vote his way, he grabbed John by the neck, while screaming 'Who voted for me??? Was it you, John???' How dare he get a vote.

  10. Other than Rupert, who I 100% cannot STAND, I don't care who's on it. It's still TAR. I guess I watch it mostly for the RACE and tasks, rather than who the racers are. I don't think I'd ever get so involved in the participants in a 'reality TV' show, that them being on it would prevent me from watching, whether it's TAR or Survivor.

  11. I didn't think it rivaled Edguardo's blindside. The look on Edguardo's face (and the other guy whose name I don't remember) was 'What the fuck? What happened? Huh-oh. I can't believe it!' Their faces really fell. Pure shock.

Eric just looked like, 'Oh no.' To me, anyway.

  12. I read about how someone said Joe pronounced Ad-van-tage before I watched the episode. I never would've noticed it.

I come from a long line of family members who pronounced ev-ery word of in-struc-tion they read in an even more ex-ag-ger-ated way. As if they didn't overly pronounce everything, they wouldn't understand it.

Especially drove me crazy when they were driving on the highway, reading exit signs.

Joe better keep that hair. It's his claim to fame.

  13. Isn't it funny/weird how far we are into the season, and people are still trying to figure out how it's actually being played? Or should we just watch and see how it unfolds?

Nah, by now, during Exemption Island or Ghost Island or whatever Returnee Island, we at least knew exactly what was going on.

Is it?  I was under the impression the Jury members at Ponderosa had handlers sticking close by each of them to monitor - and shut down, if necessary - any pre-FTC vote discussion amongst the Jurors.  No such juror management at EoE, though.

Maybe in the past, but not anymore. I doubt they have handlers hanging around with rulers just ready to smack a contestant's hand if they dare to talk game.

And I think it would be impossible anyway. Who's to stop one contestant just mouthing someone's name or a few words to another when nobody's looking?

I find myself unable to sort out what happened with the vote last night.  Who initially banded with who, who was each group planning to vote out, what changed, who ended up voting for who.  Can some kindly soul spell it out so us strategy-challenged folk can understand?

I'm with you on that one. This whole season I've been, 'Who's on First? Who's aligned with who? Huh? How did that change?' etc.

And a lot of 'Who are these people?'

That TC where everyone was running around, whispering in each other's ears, sure didn't help any. Then BOOM! somebody was voted out.

I just saw a guy on the show last night I swear I haven't seen before.

Sounds to me like Wendy and Keith voluntarily chose to end their adventure, so they decided to raise the sail and leave the game and the adventure.  They gave up their chance to rejoin the game because they chose to leave the second phase of the game.  That to me is a "quit" in my book.

True, but maybe they just realized, 'There's no chance of me returning anyway, and if I did, I'd have a huge cross on my back' so I'm outta here. Why put myself through more of that?' Ok, it's a quit, but sometimes a quit is justifiable.

It's a far cry from Osten, who I still remember making the ridiculous statement 'I'm not quitting. I'm STOPPING.'

I’d give anything for a season with no idols, no dramatic music, no funky twists. Just sit them all out there with a bag of rice and one chicken.

THIS.  Except skip the chicken.  I am hoping against hope that Season 40 blows our minds with bringing back a simple, straightforward game with less random twists.  I don't even need immunity idols!

It's been so long since we've had a season like that, I don't think we'll ever get another one. In fact, I think the 'average' viewer would be bored by a season like that.

  18. I'd call him 'Wardog' with a snicker and a guffaw, 'cause it's such a silly nickname for a 38 year old man.

That being said, I kinda enjoy watching him on the show. He amuses me. With a snicker and a guffaw.

Then again, I've often enjoyed watching assholes on the show that others dislike. Who was that guy from years ago who pretended a rock (or coconut) was his Blackberry? I laughed at him too.
