In her first episode its mentioned that Maddie is 15 years older than Buck. So that would make her the right age. I do hope if TPTB go this route its not a case of Maddie being raped or exploited, the character has plenty of angsty backstory without piling on more. If this is the case it does help explain why Maddie instinctively ran to Buck rather than their parents when she left her husband.

Do you remember who said it and when? I rewatched this episode and didn't hear it at all. I might have missed that since English it's not my first language.

  2. I feel dissapointed with this episode. I mean, don't get me wrong it was a great episode, BUT:

    1) we didn't see them actually fight a wildfire, for me it felt just like a background

    2) they went all the way from LA to Texas to be there less than 24 hours?!

I know they needed a reason to send a fire team so far away, but you know... it should be more in my opinion.

    3) they better do not hint that Buck is gay.

I liked Eddie's interactons with Texas team.

Hen’s little girl is SO CUTE. Her name is Nia - I have a friend named Nia.

Calling it: Maddie is Buck’s mother.

I thought the little girl's name was Mia.

Naah, I think Buck is adopted.

Maybe Maddie and Buck are both adopted. Like they are sibling pair that got taken in by an aunt and uncle who weren't looking to have kids but at the same time kind of did their familial duty. Maddie's old enough to remember but Buck isn't.

I like that theory. I would like to be suprised, thought. But please nothing creepy.

Me too. But it was ruined by her being shown giving it the traditional saucer of milk because we now know cats don’t digest milk well.
But these 9-1-1 shows are always chock full of anachronisms.

I was suprised too with that milk thing

  5. Does anybody know what version of hallelujah this is? I mean, who sings it? I don't recognize any popular voice.

The last scene with that boy in the forest was really spooky. And then those fires -  or more lava? Grrr...

I knew she would take the cat. Point for me, haha 😉

  6. I wonder what kind of feelings Buck's hiding from the people. And BTW, Buck was so hot in this episode!

When Athena switched on the lights on her car I wondered why didn't she switch on the sound too. The 'ioioio' would be much louder than she could ever be.

I liked the episode. I missed the 118 and the rest of them.

While you were doing clothing math, I was doing hair math...  First, like someone already said, her hair seemed to grow 2 inches between NY and Paris.  But more than that, it appeared she was late for the tournament when the hotel guy knocked on her door, but she had time to fully dry and curl her hair despite being in a huge hurry.   So, was that a wakeup call, or had the tournament start time already passed and she still hadn't shown up yet?  If that's the case, what's the rule?  Does her clock start ticking like it did for the guy at the Kentucky State tournament?  I'm confused...

Eyeliner...  the show's hair & makeup designer explained the below the lid eyeliner was purposely bad, but she was trying to channel Venus' lead singer, Mariska Veres (not Twiggy).  https://www.marieclaire.com/beauty/a34484644/the-queens-gambit-beauty/   Warning:  Stop reading after the eyeliner part, because afterwards they start discussing her look in Ep. 7.  I stopped, so I don't know if there are any real spoilers in that part of the article.  While I get what they were going for, I think it's interesting that she was able to do full makeup, including eyelashes, flawlessly after her night drinking with Clio.

I like both sides of the argument as to whether Clio was a Russian plant or not.  I personally think no, and I think if they really wanted us to believe she was, she would have come in and sat down next to the Russian's wife and child.  Or maybe that would be too obvious.  (It is what I was expecting, and true to form, the show never does what I'm expecting.)

I loved the Extreme Home Makeover 1960's Edition.  Those pink patterned wallpapers!  OK, I could go for an accent wall in one of them, but that's a whole hella lotta pattern going on in that house!   (Did anyone else notice Beth took both wallpapers straight from the store display?)  Loved all the mod furniture.  The show's prop master must have had a blast doing those rooms.   I figure at least a month or more had to pass between Beth getting back to KY from Paris and the high school tournament, just based on how much time it would have taken to have all that done.   I'm pretty sure she redid the entire kitchen, too.

I was also doing money math during the house buying/makeover montage...  $7,000 to buy Mr. Whitley's equity, but she'd still have the mortgage after that.  Based on this site, http://www.thepeoplehistory.com/60sfurniture.html , let's say all the new furniture and re-design cost at least $1,000-$2,000.  There were about a dozen trophies on the piano, and we know she got $500 from the Cincinnati tournament.  Assuming she's playing bigger tournaments, that's $5,000 - $10,000 in award money, but that's over the past few years.  So still trying to figure out where she's getting enough money to pay for this, plus her fab wardrobe, plus all the booze.

Finally, I'm so glad to see Jolene is back!

I can't believe we get only one more episode.

This! There are lot of this kind od stuff on this show. What bugs me the most is that you never know how much time actually passed, therefore you never know what actually age Beth is. And I mean her legal age and not her real age.  The way she acts and the way other treat her it seems she's on her 'legal' mid twenties. The only teenage behavior she shows is her impulsivity and the 'I know better and then everyone' attitude. But the actress definitely does not look like a teenager. Which also botheres me.

  8. This episode is boring for me. I love Veronica's blue dress from speakeasy, though.

I want this weird murder video thread to end and go straight to their lives after college. I like that they had pretty normal prom (until they didn't) with beautiful dresses and nice decorations with popular theme.

  9. I think this season has a strony opening. After last season we knew we couldn't expect a low key "issue". As much as I would like to be less "destroy the whole Universe" and more "let's fight our friendly neighborhood devil" I think it's better then the pagans. And I'm herę to enjoy the show. 😉

I liked the music in this episode, it really matched the events.

Sabrina's outfits are really great, very similar to second season's which are my favorite. It was also really interesting to watch Sabrina who's feeling really lonely and abandoned. Since this, now finally past, year I also had to deal with getting out of a serious relationship and try to date with other people it was quite  relatable and because of that more funny to me. 🙂 I mean I get you girl 😉

  10. I had a feeling it was Ella's boyfriend, he was too weird.

I liked this season but it lacked a bigger goal. Do we know if there going to be more seasons? Or was it the show's finale?

I hope little Charlie will turn out to be a celestial ceature after all. Such a sweet little angel. 😁

The idea described in the article it's actually not bad. It's truth that not covering the covid topic would feel weird espeacially for a show that sets it's reality so close to the world and time we live in. Shows like Riverdale which doesn't have specific timeline can easily omit covid and it still would feel consistent. In shows like 9-1-1 or Grey's Anatomy it would feel cheated a little bit. And time jump sounds like a good idea. I can bear some flashbacks about finding out about covid, disease's spreading and how they coped with that. I couldn't stand watching episode by episode every stage of the pandemic and reliving it.

My guess? May wants to become a 911 dispatcher. Kills 2 birds with 1 stone...gives May a little beefier role, and keeps the action focused on the dispatch center while Maddie is on maternity leave.

I thought that too but also there's a possibility she wants to be a nurse (or a doctor?). Maddie used to be a nurse. Asking Maddie for advice it's a dead giveaway so maybe there will be some twist. 😉 Just like we all thought May was going to write her essay about tsunami and saving that woman and it turned to be about "living with enemy".

Yes I am glad Buck got his closure but the way Abby was written seemed very off to me.

Her behaviour was odd. I wasn't sure why she wanted to meet Buck after the accident. In this story I'm totally on the Buck's side, though I can understand why she wanted her alone time, to just find her own way to be happy and not having to apologize for it. I get it, I really do. She wanted to be in control of her own life and she didn't want to explain herself. We all deserve to have this 'me time' and God knows Abby's live wasn't easy. I even understand why she didn't tell Buck at first. Again, I do. BUT I do havea grudge against her for not talking to Buck after some time, when it become very clear to her that she and Buck were done. And I think this is what she was supposed to tell Buck there. That she was sorry for leaving him hanging. She didn't have to say she was sorry for her journey, she had every right for that.

Another thing that really bugs me  - how could she afford all that travelling? Do 9-1-1 dispatchers earn that much?

Love that Chimney and Maddie are pregnant.  She's totally going to go into labor while in an elevator that's either on fire or flooding with water next season.

You totally right, there will be labor drama. 😄

I really like that they immediate reaction was beign happy with it. 🙂

The whole episode fell kind of flat for me. The urgency and desperation that should have been present and palpable when Bobby and Co. was racing to save Athena just wasn't there. The truck didn't even seem to be going terribly fast! And I love Peter Krause, but his micro expression-face just didn't work in this scene, he didn't appear distraught or anguished. I don't know. Maybe it's me.

And I didn't blame Karen much for leaping to conclusions: Hen cheated. It's pretty easy to believe "once a cheater, always..." when you find suspicious stuff and your partner flat out lies to you. But while it was funny to see Karen and Chimney interact, neither one of them played a convincing drunk person.

Connie Britton! Why does Abby wear such bad eyewear?

Agree with everything! It really felt weird that everything and everybody moved so slowly in that scene... But otherwise the idea was great, just hearing the fight and seeing it.

I don't see The Walking Dead on her credits. Not being a fan of the series, I looked around and didn't find much except a  wiki on The Walking Dead (A New World). Tried to find it in IMDB, but didn't.  I dug into the franchise, but didn't find anything mentioning ANW.  Someone who has better knowledge of this might be able to help. I also couldn't find any news article related to her losing a job on that show.

That was way too much effort, but I apparently have time to kill today. In any case, mileage really varies on Basset's acting ability, and I think she's pretty great, myself.

Thank you for the trouble! Now I feel like I used you for some hard work 🙂 I honestly thought there's some well known story behind this and just went straight to ask for it 🙂

And I also think the actress is doing fine. At least as Athena. I only vaguely recall some of her differents parts.

  15. Am I the only one who like Bob and Athena's pairing? 🙂 I admit it's now hot with fireworks butterfly and so on, but they're for me like a nice old marry couple who deeply care for each other and it's heartwarming. And that's enough for me 🙂 We don't need another Grey's Anatomy 😉

Buck stole my heart 😉 but it was some time ago now, so... 😉 Red was kind of a 'future ghost' but it was a nice story. 🙂 I think 9-1-1 is the only show where cliches just works for me.

Also, I think if we're lucky enough Hen will leave to become a doctor and we will never ever see her again. 🙂 They could bring then some interesting women character to 118 🙂

And Chim's accident was pretty early on in the show - they really didn't know each other that well. I am not a shipper of Eddie and Buck, except as great friends. I think it's entirely possible for two men to have platonic love for each other. Of course the squad is close, but I would most certainly freak out harder over possibly seeing my best friend die before my eyes than another co-worker. And I think Eddie told Buck that he trusted him with Christopher more than anyone else because that's what Buck really need to hear at that point. Are the showrunners toying with the shippers? Maybe. Maybe even probably. But this viewer doesn't have any problem seeing their friendship as just that.

we ALSO saw Hysterical Buck last season, when Maddie was taken by her ex husband. So this isn't a new development for him. It's helpful to know this because then it's not just them throwing in a Hysterical Buck JUST because it's Eddie. He reacts this way to everyone he's close to.

Plus, we know that Buck and Eddie are best friends. Seeing your best friend be caved in and not knowing he's ok while buried under 30 feet of wet mud? I think that constitutes worry because Buck had no idea if Eddie was ok or not. Just like Buck was hysterical when he was looking for Maddie, and just like when he was hysterical when he couldn't find Christopher. And, in all three scenarios, them being missing PLUS knowing that they were in an immediate life or death situation? I get it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! You pretty much sad it all. With Hen and Chim situations were just different. And I can bet with all of you that your reactions in front of TV were as much different as Buck's. Here we really could think that Eddie just died. With Hen and Chim it was just more... steady. And Buck didn't entirely lost it right away, he jumped to rescue  - I think Bobby but I don't remember for sure - first and when he realized what happened he reacted accordingly. I actually think in a little bit different direction: I think that other team member's reaction was toned down too much. Like they've already went through all 5 stages of grieve and accepted that Eddie was dead. Would they even try to rescue him if it wasn't for Buck?

  18. I'm pretty sure that I'm in minority but I prefer Barchie to Bughead. I just generalny don't like Jughead, I'm not fond of the actor either. I feel sorry for Veronica, though. But I admit that cheeting seems off for the characters, espeacially Betty. I guess the thing that attracts them most is the feeling and memory of the happier, simpler times. Riverdale was pretty much all sunshine and smiles before Jason's death. After that everything went crazy. So it might be love or it might be just nostalgia, or both 😉

C'mon! It was basically written in the very first ep-- Mere will end up with Alzheimer's --she will end up in the same home as her mother -- unable to remember her own name.

Yeah I think that's possible. Even more that it was brought up in the show lately.

What an actor thinks and says about a show (in which they are the star) is different than the character they portray.

Of course that's true. But doesn't Pompeo have a say in this now that she's so important and cashing this big 20 mln dollars paycheck? 😉 All I'm saying that she propably has a big influence on the show now. But of course I don't know it for sure. I realy hope for some tell all book about this show. I even think this might be the first and last celebrity book I'd buy. 😂

  22. At first, I wanted to write here that the big twist might be that Jughead is really dead, while nobody believes that could happen BUT..... the more I think about it the more I can see "escapes" for the show to go back in flashbacks and explaine how they hid the thruth from everybody, e.g. when Archie yelled to Mr Jones that he found something, Mr Jones told everybody to step back and not get closer also Betty closing mourge's door in rage could be becauseshe didn't want for anybody to see that he's not really dead... And as we know Betty and her mom had/have some connections in the mourge so I guess it's all possible. But I still think it would be a huge twist if Jughead was really dead. 😉 Nobody expects this...

The Donna character it's just so annoying. Her smug smile just drives me crazy. I really do hope Betty will bit her.

Also, did Brat have smudged mascara in the mourge? 🙄
