I knew it had to come sooner than later—he’s what, 85? But the finality of it is sobering. And no more personalized home-run calls. 😟

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Jeff Nelson and Joe Girardi have similar speaking voices?(I initially thought Joe was doing this afternoon’s game, but he’s in Mexico with Bob Lorenz.)
ETA: Actually, Nelly’s in Mexico, so maybe Joe was in Florida?

Bringing this post up from 2018 on the “Book Moments That Angry Up The Blood” forum:
QuoteDanielle Steel's double standard regarding her plethora of May-December romances is infuriating enough--if you're a hero/heroine, it's okay, if you're a villain, it's bad--but she takes it levels of white-hot rage in the novel "Family Album", when a 49-year old man "falls in love" with his daughter's 15-year old best friend and they marry as soon as she turns 18, but not before consummating the relationship while she's still underage. Or in other words, he repeatedly molests/statutorily rapes her. The whole thing is portrayed as a grand romance--the book ends with them still happily married and the parents of five children.
And that includes her parents, who, after threatening to have him arrested for statutory rape, allow her to continue dating him.

And Joe Girardi is coming back to the YES booth. I’ve always enjoyed his commentary.

And it’s funny to me how, when an ex-Yankee signs with another team, usually the first thing they do is grow a beard.
Merry Christmas to my fellow Primetimers who celebrate! 🎄🎁🎅

Hell, he would have fired Girardi for not making the playoffs in 2008.

The Fifth Dimension, “Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In”
Wrong: “This is the dawning of the plate of asparagus”
Right: “This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius”

Didn’t he get his GED after his junior year so he could enroll in community college and enter the draft sooner?

I also have a suspicion that the people who insist their children need to be homeschooled are also against regular doctor check-ups because they might force their children into vaccinating against life-threatening diseases or something, so that's another abuse prevention gone.
Several years ago, after NYS ended its religious exemption on vaccination, I got an ad on FB: “Concerned about NY’s new vaccination policy? Homeschool!
ETA: I have a thought regarding the woman whose afternoon “school” schedule consisted of chores: most conservative Christians believe that a woman’s primary purpose is to be a wife and mother, so I wonder if this was considered “practice” for the role; maybe her parents thought “Why do you need a college degree anyway?” I’m reminded of the woman in the “Shiny Happy People” documentary whose father told her that she didn’t need to go beyond fractions in math because “you’ll need them for baking.”

I got mine out of our garden. Cleaned it up, drew a face on one side and wrote “PET ROCK” on the other(and this was long after the fad had ended).
I wish I still had it.
