Does anyone remember back when Michelle was still doing the home-fooling, she taught a lesson on bankruptcy? “Children, can you say bankruptcy?” The Duggar’s financial planning indoctrination starts early.

Michelle did that because her own sister had just filed for bankruptcy and Michelle wanted her kids to know how bad their aunt was.  All she needed was less than $2,000 to catch up the back payments on her mobile home due to a bout of unemployment, but Michelle refused to help her.  Her sister, Evelyn Ruark, is a lesbian.

On the GED subject, I thought Jessa was the one with the GED, which was why she was able to take over homefooling.  I don't remember hearing that Jinger took the GED.  I feel for those kids.  I still wonder why Josh didn't try to improve his education.  He certainly could have taken the GED and gone on to college.  I know he is persona non grata, but it has to hurt to see Derwood going to law school, which was supposedly his dream.

These are the kids Michelle says passed the GED test:  Josh, John David, Jill, and Jinger. You can go back and read all of the posts on Michelle's blog.  Homeschool graduation used to be at age 16; now it is at age 17.  So, only 4  of the 13 kids over the age of 17 have passed the GED test.  This means that most of the Duggar siblings would have difficulty finding a job at a burger joint.

I don’t know if Jinger has her GED. They used to post it when one of them “graduated”, but that was a long time ago.

Jinger has her GED, but Jessa does not.  If you remember, Jessa was put in charge of the home school studies when she lived at the Duggar compound.  Other than Jinger, no sibling younger than Jessa ever passed the GED test. Jana didn't pass the test either, but John David did.

Working with troubled kids in a closed facility is not an easy undertaking. Amy seems to still be enthusiastic about it and I'm willing to give her the benefit of doubt that she's more than just a glorified babysitter.

Sorry, but Amy isn't qualified for one of the professional jobs at the facility.  Amy is 32-years-old, has never held a full-time job in her life and has no college.  What kind of job do you think someone is going to offer her there?  Plus, there are only 28 girls, so they each do get adequate time with the registered nurses, psychiatrists and social workers.  Amy can pretend all she wants to, but she will never have a professional job there without a college degree.

I was the Activities Director at a nursing home for one summer while the actual Activities Director was on vacation.  I actually loved the job, but it was a lot of hard work.  There were specific programs to run, such as arts and crafts, current events discussions, music and singing time, game time with board games and card games, and hosting visiting speakers or performers.  I had to help transport a lot of wheelchairs and walkers to said activities, and took time to visit with family members and friends as well as the residents.  It is certainly not just a "make time" job if you do it correctly.  It is also a job that is greatly appreciated by the residents and other employees.  The Activities Director is an important person in a nursing home/assisted living situation, and not everyone can do it well.  Good for Amy if this is something that she really loves.  I'm sure it is appreciated.

Amy doesn't work in a nursing home.  She works in a residential facility for girls with psychiatric, behavioral and addiction problems.  There are only 28 kids there (ages 6-17) and they do go to school most of the day.  At this institution, there are registered nurses, psychiatric nurses, psychiatrists and social workers who do the serious work with these girls.

In no way is Amy a "therapist" or a "mentor".   Amy is a liar and an egotist. At least she's in a place where she can receive professional help with her personality.

UGH I hadn't realized until you posted this and then I went to look it up that Austin's sister was married to Bob Ballinger's son. This must have happened while I was on a Duggar hiatus.

Ballinger is a local politician. He is not well-liked in my county, but he seems to get votes in other parts of the district.

Nevertheless, this makes a lot of sense. I feel like Ballinger is a moderately more successful Jim Bob but with fewer kids.

Bob Ballinger is also an attorney and works for Travis Story, who is the attorney often used by Jim Bob Duggar.

These fundy families all seem to know each other.

450 degrees for 90 minutes? I like to make sure chicken is cooked, but holy damn.

Another perspective:  Canned green beans, drained and no other liquid added, are baked in the oven at 450° for 1 1/2 hours. Do this and you, too, can have burn marks on green beans, just like in Jill's picture.

Derelict is an idiot if he thinks a Jilly-educated child will surpass anyone. As it stands now, Jill can't even get Izzy to do pre-school work unless she bribes him with candy. I don't think that's because he's spoiled or a brat, but rather because Jill has no idea what the hell she's doing and he gets frustrated.

Jill can't even potty train that kid.  He's 3 1/2 years old and still in diapers.

He should have listed law school under “Education” not “Experience”.  But for him, maybe it is an experience...

But, but, but, he's a "J.D. Candidate."  Sounds like he's running for political office, doesn't it?

I was disheartened when Josiah said he would consider college if he ever wants expertise in something (paraphrasing). No intellectual curiosity whatsoever. And how busy can he be not selling cars or real estate.

The only real estate Josiah is allowed to sell is property that he personally owns.  He has to have a real estate sales license to sell real estate owned by a family member or anyone else, and he doesn't have a license.  In order to get a license in Arkansas, he must take courses (60 classroom hours from an accredited or licensed school) and pass an exam.  Instead, Josiah just opted for a marriage license.

I watched that scene live- Josiah as very upset and scared when they announced Michelle was pregnant with Jubilee. Jana distinctly said “Siah don’t cry!” Poor thing.

None of that was in the episode I posted about.  Which episode were you watching?

I don't remember him being laughing and excited; I remember him being upset. Video is blocked for me, too, so I can't verify.

For those of you who are blocked from viewing the video, here are some screen shots.  In this scene, Jim Bob has lined all the kids up to take a group picture.  When he has them all lined up, he holds his camera up and announces that 45-year-old Michelle is pregnant.  Then Michelle says, "Mama's gonna have another baby."  Josiah is smiling on the far right. Josiah starts to inch his way out of the scene, then makes a run for the telephone (maybe to call a tabloid?). Then, Josiah vanishes from the scene.

When we see him again, he is visibly shaken, holding his hurt arm and is under Jim Bob's outstretched hand.

    That is what I see.

Maybe you can find it this way:  Go to YouTube, and in the YouTube search box copy and paste this:

19 kids and counting - Duggars: All you wanted to know 3/3

Or, open the Chrome browser.  Then, press Ctrl+ Shift + N to bring up an incognito window.  Then, put the URL in the search box at the top and hit Enter.

Remember the infamous moment when Michelle announced her umpteenth pregnancy and Josiah got upset and ran off-camera, practically in tears, then Jim Bob followed and angrily dragged him back by the scruff of his neck? As he started to run off, one of his older sisters (probably Jana) called out "No, 'Siah!"

When Michelle announced another pregnancy after the birth of Josie, Josiah was laughing and excited.  He ran off to use the phone.  Jim Bob twisted his arm to make him turn loose of the phone and pulled him back to the group. That's where the tears came from and Josiah was holding his arm in pain.  The whole scene was caught on camera. You can view it on the clip below, starting about 8 minutes in.

Found some information on law schools acceptance rates.  U of AR-Fayetteville 164 out of 196 law schools in the US; they accept 67% of applicants, with most LSAT scores between 151 and 158; 75% of graduates pass the state bar and 80% are employed by 10 months after graduation.  Liberty University is rated higher (83); although many of Liberty's states are similar they only accept 50% of applicants, and 57% are employed 10 months after graduation.

    Here's the website:  https://www.ilrg.com/rankings/law/1/asc/Accept

Just remember that those statistics don't tell you how many students started law school and dropped out before graduation.  Nationwide, 20 – 40% of first year law school students drop out or flunk out.

A huge part of it is the person's appearance. While "hustle" is definitely part of it, looks pretty much set the stage for everything else. Photography skill is quite unnecessary, and even then, the person doesn't even handle that themselves. Jill is nowhere near attractive enough to have success as an Instagram model, but she fortunately already has a high follower count from being on TV. There are so many sponsorships she could get, since anybody with a hint of e-notoriety usually promotes the same types of products. (hair/nail vitamin gummies, weight loss tea, FabFitFun subscription boxes) I imagine most of those products are inherently sinful in her mind, so perhaps not. The Duggars have been conditioned for their whole lives to not be their own person and to serve everyone else, but it's still frustrating that Jill is no longer part of the show and yet seemingly has no desire to carve out her own 'brand' online, when it could be quite lucrative to do so. I would argue that she's so boring, it wouldn't work, but there are still a million plus people tuning into the dull shitshow after all these years (including myself) so there is an audience for...whatever she does.

The Ashley Madison adultery dating website has an affiliate program.  Jill could make money by touting this as the dating site used by her brother.

  18. Derick finished his first day of law school classes yesterday and hasn't posted a word about them.  My guess is that he is shell-shocked.  There are reasons why the first year dropout rate for law school is 20 – 40%.  I wonder if Derick knew how much reading was involved in law school.  He doesn't seem to like to read at all and reading about case law is not the most interesting endeavor for many people.  I think he is way out of his element.

By now, he has learned that students in law school courses are graded on a curve, which means that the numbers of A's, B's, C's and D's are rationed.  Very few students will achieve a 3.0 grade average.

Also, class ranking is important.  If a student doesn't graduate in the top 10% of his class, he will not be offered a job at the best law firms.

Derick has never stated the reason he decided (or Jesus called him) to go to law school.  Why is he doing this?  What are his goals if he pulls it off, graduates and passes the bar exam? We can all guess about these things, but that is not the same as hearing from Derick himself.  He began the process of applying for law school about seven months ago, so he has had plenty of time to concoct a PR spin for this decision.  Even though he is a known liar, deceiver and equivocator, I want him to state WTF he is doing in law school.
