My sister is very similar to Jessa (and Jill) in that she constantly has to post about her relationship with her husband (which is actually not a good relationship at all). I think she feels like she constantly has to post stuff about how "great" their relationship is just to convince herself that it's going well. I could totally see Jessa doing that, and if she's not already, she definitely will be in a few years when she's absolutely miserable and tired of chasing around her kids.
Off topic, but I hate the FB posts, "This is to my best friend, the most etc etc. etc." You live with the guy, but instead of telling him you post on FB? I smell a rat when people are too much into what others think of their relationship.

Not a chance. I'm firmly in the "wants to look hot for Josh" camp. Sad but unfortunately true.
Heck, there are still too many cameras around her even now, and everyone (us!) has something to say about her appearance. Maybe she just wants to hear a compliment for a change.

Hope everyone had a great Halloween. We had a great time. I think my boys enjoy handing out candy more than trick or treating.
I saw a bunch of pictures of kids and babies in costumes on my FB thread for the past two days. I couldn't help but think about the Duggar kids. This would be the perfect holiday for them. They would get to dress up (I'm sure Jessa or Jill would love to share pictures of their babies in costumes on social media) and with all of those kids, they'd get a boatload of candy from trick or treating. The grifters they are, this holiday was made for them.
They grift enough and take MORE than enough pictures already.
I agree it is sad they don't enjoy Halloween, but the list of things they can't enjoy is very long.

Lovely pic. When I snuggle up to my guy - kissing or riding in the car - I hold onto him in just that way - with my hand grasping his arm. I really like that there are plenty of positive comments on their photo as well.
Are you afraid he'll make a break for it? LOL.

JMO here but Josh, WAY before 14, should have been taught to respect his sisters enough that the thought of molesting them was unconscionable and more than a little bit CREEPY.
He knew it was wrong, that's why he was sneaking it. He just didn't care.

I read it as the good christian missionaries need to pray and fast to ask God to intervene.
This is where it all breaks down for me. If God is so powerful and merciful, why does he need people to nag him to do the right thing?

Yes, but they are also two completely different offenses, in my book. Consenting adults having sex is very different from abusing children.

These two dummies want to take on gangs with fasting and prayer? Perhaps an MS-13 leader will be so taken by Derick's interpretive dancing that he'll order his clika to lay their guns down and pray. Just shows how completely ignorant they are.
Oh PLEASE have Derick do interpretive dancing for the gang members! PLEASE have cameras for this. Oh I forgot they film everything.

And I thank the mods for their hard work. Over at Free Jinger, it's often a mess of tangents!
This makes a lot of sense, but I also remember being surprised and appalled at how the Ashley Madison scandal seemed to be the way less forgivable crime than the molestation for a huge subset of people. People who were willing to buy the party line about him being a kid and it being in the past seemed over-the-top pissed about the A.Mad thing. The molestation on its own wasn't even enough to lose them the show; the affair was what sealed the deal.
I still believe the blase attitude towards the molestation is often from others of their religious intensity. It all ties together with the Megyn Kelly interviews, to paraphrase "Lots of families have this or worse." I think child rape is a big part of religious extremism, in any religion.

They are making it sound like they are mostly there to learn Spanish. Why do they keep mentioning that? Can they not learn Spanish in the United States?
God laid it on their hearts to learn Spanish, so they purposed to find the most expensive way to do so.

There's all of the judgment and none of the "joy" in the Duggars' religion. And I can't imagine what's going to happen when Jessa Blessa and Jilly Muffin are back on the air while the rest of the family is a) uncompensated and b) no longer the center of attention... Jim Boob "midlife meltdown", anyone?
I wish he would have a melt down caught on camera. I'd watch that.

It's probably some weird sort of rationalization based on good intentions (to give the benefit of the doubt)...Since they believe that all they need to do to gain forgiveness is to repent, they can probably manage to tell the lie while "purposing" to repent about it later on. Whether or not they ever get around to it is irrelevant.
The Catholic child sexual abuse scandal caught my attention years ago. The priests lied using something they called "mental reservation."
It meant they knew they were lying, but could justify it, the end justifies the means. (In the cases involving priests, they were usually lying to protect pedophile clerics. Or, as they would put it, to protect Holy Mother Church.)

I owe Michelle Duggar an apology. While I still disapprove of the spectacle they made of Jubilee's passing, and I still question her changing 'miscarriage' to 'stillborn' to make it somehow feel more grand, I apologize for ever making comments that minimized her suffering.
We were told this week that it is unlikely my baby will be born alive, and if he is, it is very possible he will only live a few moments, or possibly longer but not make it home. If the Duggars felt even a fraction of the pain I have felt these past few days, then I am truly sorry for making flippant comments about how they dealt with their loss.
Oh dear god, I'm so sorry for you and your family's loss. Virtual hugs and real thoughts coming your way.

That's adorable. My daughter made the same face at her first taste of lemon. She was about the same age as Baby Israel. Then she reached for more. She's an adult now, but has been in love with lemons and other intense flavors ever since.
I have loved lemons, and pickles, since I was a toddler. Pretty common in my family,

I find it interesting here that we spell Derrick's name so many ways. Some go with Derick, others with Derrick, Derick, or whatever. I could look it up and see how HE spells it, but it's more fun to see how many ways we mangle it. Including me, and different ways on different days.
