That's too bad. They've alienated the loyal fans of the show. I stopped watching for a number of seasons, but came back for the pros like Daniella who  I saw on WOD heard she and Pasha were going to be on as pros so I came back to see how they'd do. She really taught students and provided exciting choreography. Too bad the jaded pros like Val are still sticking around. All he gives is re-cycled choreo from seasons prior. But even if the dancing and the out of time violin gets dusted off for another round of look at me I'm a great Pro he's no Mark Ballas

Yeah, the show isn't nearly as good as it used to be. I liked Jason because he was an old-school contestant. I think he would have won in an earlier season. If they are going to get social media "stars" I hope they at least get people who can dance like Charlie. Maybe they can hire Ezra and give him and Rylee some young stars who can perform and dance. I know that's going to mean we'll get more garbage like their versions of contemporary and jazz, but it is what it is.

  2. I don't know if I liked Charity's freestyle as much as her other dances this season, but it was definitely different. Now that they include everything goes "jazz" as a dance for everyone, there isn't really much to get excited about with the freestyles anymore. I appreciate that she at least tried to be unique.

Was Ariana trying to channel Beyonce? Her dance was a hot mess, whatever it was. I really think Alyson was better than her on both dances. I agree with those who said Alyson got ripped off yesterday.

But racism?  When a Latina won?  I'm wondering about that reading the comments here, but it's not towards Charity.

People on this forum aren't making racist comments, but there are a lot of them on the show's Facebook and Instagram pages. The fact that they don't delete that garbage pretty much says it all.

  4. They tried a judges' save after Bones, but that only works if someone is in the bottom two. I'd rather have the fans vote for who stays and goes over the judges, even if one dancer is better than the other.

Unfortunately, social media is here to stay and people like Alyson and Jason are going to have a harder time winning unless they have massive followings on social media and can shill for votes. Charli was good, but does anyone actually think she won because of her dancing? I'm sure her most of her stans who voted for her never actually watched the show.

  5. The top four were very close in scores. In the past, people with a perfect score didn't always win. The popular folks could overcome a couple of points difference. Hell, Bones overcame a huge deficit to win.

Ya'll are forgetting that Xochitl has a lot of stans on TikTok who probably voted for her. Alyson was popular 20-30 years ago. Jason was popular 10-15 years ago. I don't think their fanbases are as huge as people think they are. Remember, Bones actually has a current show that crosses over with the DWTS fan base. He was last in scores and still won.

Xochitl wasn't my favorite (Jason was), but she deserved to win as much as anyone else. Any of them would have been a deserving winner.

I think it's possible Xochitl would have been eliminated and the show doesn't want to lose Val's freestyle for the finale.

His freestyles aren't very good, though. I don't even remember a single one that he did, except for Laurie Hernandez which was pretty good. My tin foil hat still thinks some of the pros tell TPTB that they won't come back unless they make the finals.

So Maks is going to be the new Ballroom Judge on #SYTYCD according to Krystyn Burt's Twitter feed.

And Harry is joining the DWTS tour which is a bummer.

Maks just needs to go away. I wouldn't pay to watch Harry, but it makes sense they included him to get money from all the Harry/Rylee shippers.

Did anyone catch Gerry's granddaughters' expressions  when Theresa said she knocked his boots off? They looked really disgusted.  I felt her comment was tasteless and fell flat.

But why? Old people do it, too. That's what I love about this show...it shows that us mature folks aren't dead yet, lol.

My sincere hope for Rylee, who is incredibly talented, is that she's brought back next season and is given a partner who has at least some modicum of musicality or dance ability.

I would like that as well. She is cute and brings some youth to the pro side. I don't think she and Harry are dating, either. He definitely seems more like her big brother. His family is in Australia I assume, so it makes sense that he spent Thanksgiving with the Arnold family.

If they are dating, however, good for them. They are consenting adults and maybe he doesn't want to be a player anymore. Those reality shows are all heavily scripted anyway.

  9. Leslie reminds me of a good friend of mine. She has also been divorced twice and can't seem to get her life together, although she is nice. She would be great as a BFF, but as a spouse, not so much.

I wouldn't feel too sorry for Leslie. She is pretty and a ton of men are going to be lining up to date her, now. She needs to be careful to weed out the bad ones, but she'll be fine.

Entertainment Tonight said all the women and the producers knew Gerry’s actual dating history.

I'm not surprised at all. It's not "reality" at all.

In the second episode I think it was, at the cocktail party, Gerry was dancing and just acting silly with the women, caught Theresa’s eye and winked at her.  That made me think they had a definite connection.  That and when he asked her to help him with the frosting on his lips I; the first episode.

I agree. He liked Teresa all along, and the women probably knew it.

  11. It doesn't make sense to assume the viewership would drop if they dumped a low vote getter. If Xochitl or whoever was going to get eliminated, why would the ratings drop if no one voted for her? I don't think anyone left is bringing in massive ratings or social media interaction. The only one who was actively bringing social media attention to the show was Harry, and he is gone. I do agree with previous posts that they might have had five people to help him get in the finals.

I can't remember who you are talking about but I don't think you can deride someone who has been working so hard for such a time for crying at bad news.

They were probably talking about Sailor Cook, Christie Brinkley's daughter. I thought she was a decent dancer and had the potential to improve, but she got eliminated early.

  12. Maybe it's an age thing? My husband never cried when he was young, but he does now. Gerry's crying never bothered me, although it was a bit melodramatic at times. I think people are going to be pissed about his lying though. I think parts of that article are probably true, but we have to take it with a grain of salt. We are only hearing one person's account, and that is from an anonymous source. I'm sure he embellished his resume and faked the born again virgin drama, but that isn't so horrible. He didn't do anything criminal. If he just admitted it, it wouldn't have been a big deal.

Not finale worthy? I'd rather someone who gets appropriately scored go to the finale over someone who has been propped up by inflated scores just to stay in the competition. That is dishonest. Alyson obviously has a boat load of fans voting for her. The majority who bother to care enough to vote should have a big say in who is finale worthy imho.

She isn't really appropriately scored though. Bruno gave her awful jive a 9, when he gave Jason the same score for his much better dance. Alyson probably deserves 7s and 8s at this point. Bones deserved 6s and 7s. Harry deserved 5s.

Most of the bad dancers also tend to be popular, so they will never be scored properly.

It wouldn't be uncommon for a man married for so long to go out and date someone right away. My friend dated one!

I agree, and I wouldn't judge him on that because people grieve differently. However, he shouldn't have lied to the women and said he dated very little. He could have easily said that he dated around, but never found what he was looking for. I wonder if the woman he picked is going to stay with him now, unless he was straight with her behind the scenes.

Do they not vet these people when they sign them? Or did they fully want and expect this?

  15. I'm okay with Alyson winning. She doesn't suck as much as Bobby Bones, and at least she doesn't have a crap attitude. Her waltz was pretty good, and it would be nice to see Sasha win. I don't think her winning would hurt the show's reputation. At least Harry is gone.

It should be a good show, but three hours is too long. I would prefer three or four finalists with little fillers.

For all the griping about Charity, Ariana leaves me ice cold when she dances. I want her in the finale simply for Pasha's choreo. She looked like she was going to stab someone in the final seconds of the show.

I find it very interesting that Charity has the same performance quality and ability as Charli D'Amelio, but she's being nitpicked to death every week while Ariana gets a pass and Charli, y'know, WON the show in a walk. Whatever. I like her, I love Artem, and at this point I'd be happy if she won it.

They've been hitting her with the "she doesn't connect with the audience" BS that they usually reserve for black women on this show for weeks. When Derek tried with that trope yet AGAIN, Bruno told him off. I'm no expert at dancing, but Ariana, Charity, Jason and Xochitl all look like pros to me.

"I also think it might have been Harry in the final 5 instead of Alyson if she didn't work so hard in getting the Taylor fans to vote for her. She had a full on campaign that Swifties can't resist. I for one am not a fan of any theme nights because the cloying for support based on a singer whose music didn't always fit the dance style tipped the scales into full on selling advertising instead of enjoying a dance show."

This. I couldn't put my finger on it, but this is probably why she bugs me. She seems fake and immature to me in a high school type of way. I don't think they were protecting a production favorite. They wouldn't be able to put in an extra person at the last minute. I'm sure they have been planning it at least a week or two. It makes sense that they were trying to get Harry in for the younger folks, and having 5 would have probably made that happen if it weren't for the Swifties.

That said, I think Ariana and Xochitl were probably the real bottom two. I don't recall Alfonso saying "this isn't necessarily the bottom two" this time. Jason and Alyson have overcome low scores to advance, and they have been unsuccessfully trying to get rid of Charity for weeks, so I think those three are the top vote getters.

  18. I watch for the dancing, so a final with Ariana, Jason, Xochitl and Charity would be awesome. Alyson seems like a lovely person, but she isn't very good and Sasha's middle school choreography isn't doing her any favors. Why did she do a cringey handstand again? It didn't belong in a cha cha. Was that her idea or Sasha's? As much as I would love to see Sasha win, I don't think Alyson is going to do it for him.

Zendaya and Jordan Fisher are two that come to mind that were Disney and have strong careers. Jordan is now killing it on Broadway and I think he was an adopted child, but had strong support. Zendaya  of course has a very long career ahead of her and by any account the had the most successful acting  career of any contestant from DWTS

I think Xochitl is going to go in the same direction as Zendaya and Jordan. I saw her Marvel movie and she was really good.

  20. Charlie was good, but she won because of her massive social media following. No one this season even has a fraction of that. That's why I wouldn't worry too much about Harry winning. He has fans, but so does everyone else.

Last season was so boring because there was no competition for Charlie in either fanbase or ability. This season, it's up for grabs so I'm liking this season more.

  21. Why is Alyson getting free points going against Harry again? She needs to go against Jason or Charity. I don't find her dancing interesting, so I hope she and Harry are the next two to go.

I'm meh on Taylor Swift night. She seems like a sweet person, but I don't know any of her music. I wish they would go back to songs appropriate for the dancing and shelve the theme nights.

And didn't Charity get cha cha last week?

As this is the first time I watched this series, is it normal for the bachelor (or bachelorette) to see "I love you" so much?

I also wonder is it producer driven? Or is Gerry just overwhelmed by the experience and doesn't want to NOT say it?

I haven't seen any Bachelor shows before either, so not sure, although I don't doubt that a lot of it is producer manipulated. I wouldn't be surprised if he knew from the get go who he wanted, but the producers told him to act ambiguous. If that's the case, I feel sorry for the woman that he didn't select.
