  1. I think "emotional arc" confirms that they will get back together. I mean, it could be anything, but assuming the break-up is legit, I am guessing the "emotional arc" means they are reuniting. It would not be much of an arc if they start broken up and also end there.
  2. The Requiem and Existence scenes DEFINITELY weren't spoiled though. I remember that everyone in the fan base was super concerned with how Existence would end and remember no one had a clue until the day it aired.
  3. Yes, if I recall, the bedroom scene in IWTB, the pregnancy reveal in Requiem and the last scene of Existence were all very tightly guarded and no one knew about them beforehand (until the day the episodes aired when people used to get an early feed). So I am sure there is something that is being kept secret here, especially if the major questions are not answered in the current script. Honestly, anything they would break up over seems like conflicts we've seen them have - and resolve - before, which is why everyone seems to be having such a hard time with it. Like, OK, Mulder gets super obsessive. He's always been that way. There has to be something big. And yet, I still think that whatever the big thing is, CC and team will want to preserve the integrity of the MSR, as it is at the core of the show, and is setting into a motion some kind of story where they are reunited. This is speculation but think it tracks with the kind of storytelling 1013 does - the characters and their bond are at the heart of everything.
  4. Actually danax6's source saying neither the split or going back to the FBI are explained is actually a good sign to me -- makes me think there are definitely pages / scenes being left out, maybe just between DD and GA. There's no way these things won't be explained.
  5. I think that the Marla person just kind of enjoys playing with people. I guess my main question is, do they reconcile and how quickly? I can't imagine CC ending the whole thing with M&S NOT together (and he sure is introducing a lot of romantic tension to heighten the drama). I really doubt that Tad will be any kind of actual threat on an emotional level - I can see them playing him as more Fowley-like in nature. However, to also present M&S as united when investigating random cases, we can't have them at total odds. I am wondering if we'll see something like: M&S have been estranged, but are ... close? About to get back together? Tad and events of ep 1 / 2 add a bit more tension. Romantic tension carries over to MOTWs. M&S get back together for real and are recommitted following myth arc drama. Otherwise: M&S are totally estranged, forced back together during ep 1 / 2 M&S investigate MOTWs (I have a hard time with this if it is coming off of total estrangement?) M&S get back together and are recommitted following myth arc drama. Most unlikely to me: M&S are estranged, forced back together during ep 1 / 2 M&S investigate MOTWs M&S decide not to be together
  6. It totally is like CC. And I wish, but if she really did date Tad, I think that negates it. I do like the theory that the vacuum cleaner is a clue that Scully is getting ready to come back.
  7. I think the psych ward thing is speculation but it did make me read that sidebar with a different perspective. CC is really driving home the "Mulder is CRAZY" business to the point where it seems like if the break-up is real, this must be why. Speculation: what if Mulder does what he has done so many times during the series -- runs off to chase a lead? He totally could have thought he was protecting Scully, but she is fed up with worrying about him and moves out. He comes home to see she has left and she is holding strong. I still am just hoping the break-up is short term, like a year or less, and the Tad thing was maybe just a dinner or two that Scully was not at all invested in. The only way I can wrap my head around it is if it is if we look at it all like a codependent relationship. Scully sees Mulder as harming himself and harming her and she is recognizing that her continual support is not making things better and maybe only leaving will do that. I still did not necessarily want this to be the conflict here ... but I think there are ways to execute that are true to character.
  8. Does anyone remember them EVER actually spreading false info? Beyond the werewolf thing in IWTB? I've followed the show / fandom since it started and remember that most spoilers ended up being true so am curious what others recall. We definitely don't know enough now to draw any conclusions (and the set photos / previous quotes look contradictory), but I was really hoping they would not go this route. Assuming it is true, the worst case scenario is probably that they get back together in the last episode, but then, if they are estranged, WHY would they be investigating X-Files in the standalone episodes? And wouldn't this create a very odd tone? Best case scenario is that it really is some kind of undercover / misdirect situation and we find out at the end of episode 1 that Scully is still with him / working with him (which feels pretty viable and similar to how they have handled things before). Otherwise I guess that we'll just route for the estrangement being brief and externally motivated and resolved quickly. I mean, if we take the spoilers at face value and the split is about Mulder being obsessive and in a dark place or whatever, it makes very little sense that Scully would not be helping him and working with him, as she has always done.
  9. I definitely have concerns, but ultimately, when you look at the entire history of the franchise, CC and team always reaffirm the Mulder/Scully relationship. I mean, there have been some threads many did not love, but when it comes to the big things, they generally always land on the side of Mulder and Scully together.
  10. My guess is that it won't be a real split -- more like Mulder's so deep in the throes of obsession that he is staying in the house working all the time and Scully couldn't deal with it / had to leave to function as a normal person. Similar to the conflict in IWTB, but not with the characters actually separated in a long-term sense. Maybe even married. I just always come back to the fact that they really NEVER split voluntarily in all nine years of the show and then through the last movie. And with CC's and Gillian's comments about liking where the relationship is and it maturing, I just think there is more to the whole "living separately" thing than is being teased. That said, I am a little wary of the "Mulder's in a dark place" stuff. Feels very similar to what we have seen before, while not out of character. I hope it's backed up by new news about colonization or something. I always hated when they had Mulder not tell Scully things to protect her, but I imagine we'll see something along those lines.
  11. On the house topic, I also think it is a good sign that according to the call sheet, part of the EW photoshoot is happening on that set. That may mean nothing of course, but it points to them being together to showcase the domestic setting. Also would Mulder really live in a house on his own? I guess if Scilly just left him (just to play devil's advocate to myself), but otherwise I would think he'd be in an apartment.
