Again, I really don't see the purpose behind it, and it is clearly another product for people with a lot of disposable income. Poor kids are told "eat your dinner or starve," and the vast majority of them will go for the former. Then there is also the question of whether it is proper etiquette to encourage children to play with their food. Do you have to stick a tube into every kid's lunch bag? What if your kid only wants the ketchup, but you're forcing the parents to pay for a 3 pack of ketchup, mustard and mayo every time they buy it?

My first thought was it's probably a bad idea to "coddle" kids this way . . . we'll let you paint your food and in return you'll agree to eat it. My folks did let me drown a couple despised meat items in A-1 sauce to mask the flavor, but we already had that in the fridge.

I know that I've ranted before about the voice overs but:
"Though when there is no data, any move can be extremely scary. We have to solely practice medicine on a hunch, relying on instincts and hope. ..  Before there was a cure for diabetes, . . .

This made me crazy because there's not yet a "cure" for Type 1 diabetes, which is what she's referring to.

With Meredith, Maggie and now Kai leaving, it's become misery porn for Amelia. First she sees her father murdered in front of her as a child. Her three sisters are witches to her and her mother makes Ellis Grey look warm and loving, all of which cause huge emotional issues around abandonment.. She has a drug addiction and an addicted boyfriend who dies in front of her.  She is pregnant, the fetus is anencephalic and she carries it to term so that she can donate the organs because it will die within a day or two.  Her only sibling who loves her is killed in an accident and Meredith doesn't even tell her in time to say goodbye to him. Her marriage to Owen is a mess. She finally has a baby and a good relationship with Linc which gets ends for plot reasons. Now first Meredith, then Maggie and now Kai are leaving her. The only person she has left to count on is Richard. Will Amelia start using drugs again???

    Enough already. This isn't entertaining.

After reading this through twice, I remembered that Amelia also developed a tumor and needed brain surgery.

What happened with the dental floss?  Was it a no deal?  I zoned out in the middle.

I never understood why people bought those single use picks, but I do see them strewn all over.  Ugh.  Now I understand it has a use for children.

I have no idea why people throw those picks in parking lots. It seems like every time I'm in a parking lot, I see at least one of those things. Are they flossing in the car or what? Can't they take it to the garbage can? Then again, I could never understand why so many people threw their face masks in parking lots and vacant lots either.

If Kai had been brought to Seattle Grace simply as a new character I think I would have liked it more - it is the love interest that made Kai less interesting.

I couldn't agree more. I have trouble with the whole pronoun issue and I think the character of Kai could have helped me understand this better. But now I'm just disgruntled because they pushed her and Amelia together, and that makes no sense to me at all.

I guess that the Linc and Amelia are blue dead with Amelia saying that he may be perfect for Jo. In real life, the story of two longtime best friends moving in together and growing to love each other would have me cheering. But for a TV show, it's boring. Opposites attracting is a more interesting story than two old friends finally getting together.

The only way this would have been effective is if the story was written and the characters portrayed as though they belonged together all along and didn't realize it. The viewers would be cheering for them now. But it was never like that. There was no romantic chemistry. They were buddies.

Plus, Linc and Amelia were great together. It's beyond annoying that the pair was split up apparently to connect Amelia and the Minnesota doctor.

  7. I was wondering today, ahead of tonight's episode, which characters and storylines I actually have an interest in.  The only one is Helm working at Joe's Bar. Suddenly she's all confident and glam, and we get to hang out at Joe's Bar again.

Exactly. My grandparents house caught fire six years ago. I remember their house was unlivable. Granted, the fire affected the main part of the house and not "just an attic," but I remember walking through and the straight up smoky smell throughout the place. I refuse to believe that Meredith's house is actually livable, mainly because of that smell.

That fire sure looked like it would do a lot more than leave a hole in the roof. From what I've seen, repair work can take forever too. There's a duplex on this street in which the renters sort of blew up the garage with fireworks on July 4.  Repair work didn't begin for a few months, although that might have been issues with insurance considering the circumstances. It's still not done and nobody lives there yet, so the home must have been substantially affected.

if you want to learn more about the issues with clothing donation, I recommend reading everything that Aja Barber writes.

Thank you. I'll look into her writing. The whole fashion thing is something I don't relate to at all, so it's mind-boggling to me. I almost never buy clothing, and it's almost never new. I wear it until it falls apart.

I hear what hula-la is saying about the unsold or un-upcycled textiles.  In addition to tons of unrecycled plastics clogging the oceans and waterways, textiles are a huge problem in their own right.  There are not enough upcyclers or thrift shop buyers and sellers to accommodate the mountains of textiles dumped in Africa, Asia, and South America.  We desperately need more recycling centers that will take textiles and repurpose the pulp.  My state recently (finally) banned putting textiles in the trash. My city’s recycling center has a program where we can drop off any amount of clothing for free, or they will do curbside pick up for 2 large trash bags for $10.  I stopped bringing used clothing to Salvation Army and Goodwill after hearing how some workers take goods home themselves and many resell on EBay.  I donate to the local Veterans center and the women’s shelter instead.

I wasn't clear on whether it was OK to send clothing that is too worn out to resell. That would be the attraction for me. At this moment, I don't know of anywhere I can take it besides throwing it in the trash. Some of the fabric can be cut up for rags, but not everything is suitable for that.

I know what you mean about thrift shops. I used to be an eBay reseller and I'd run around the region and buy lots of stuff to sell online. What was profoundly disturbing to me was seeing the back rooms at some of these stores packed to the rafters with donated clothing. There was no way it could ever all be placed in stores or sold. Where would it go? Why is there so much of it?

With most programs you can select with your keyboard, but you have to do a lot of keyboard navigation to really do it.

I do tons of copying and pasting for work and personally do find it much faster to use the mouse to select and then the keyboard to actual copy/paste, but have never had my hand cramp up from it. And I've done more than the 50 times a day the guy on the show mentioned. Maybe because I am on a Mac and the "command" key is much closer to the C and a V than "control" is on a windows keyboard? His little device seemed like it would be harder to use because it is a separate thing attached to your computer and not by the rest of the keys.

That may be it exactly. My little finger and index finger are four inches apart on Ctrl-V. Doing that repeatedly in a short time frame causes hand strain for me. But if I would get into the habit of using both index fingers instead, that solves the problem.

I really have to weigh in to clarify how pointless I found the copy/paste device.  As I said upthread, I use the mouse, not because I am a dinosaur but because it makes the most sense for my work, which is not accounting or data entry, but rather writing (letters and legal briefs).  You still have to move the cursor to highlight what you want to copy or cut and then move it again to where you want to paste it.  There are keyboard shortcuts for that but I just find the mouse easier.  You can do keyboard shortcuts for highlighting one word, one sentence or one paragraph, but when like me you have to highlight just a part of something, the mouse (or touchpad if that's what you're using) is easier and more accurate.  YMMV.

It really is the dinosaurs not wanting to use the mouse, I would think. We didn't even have mouses for non-Apple computers back in the day. I was thinking about keyboard shortcuts last night when I was doing all this copy-pasting. It's because I'm highlighting a template document (ctrl-A), copying (ctrl-C) and pasting it into Scribens (ctrl-V), Grammarly (ctrl-V) and Copyscape (ctrl-V). Sometimes I'm doing this with Copyscape several times in 5 or 10 minutes. It's a lot faster than using the mouse.

Copy Paste guy was too over the top. It's too much of a novelty item to be successful.. Maybe he can market to older gen people who have trouble understanding/using combination key presses..

I liked that product although I'm not sure it's any better than what I can come up with on my own. The thing is, it's because I'm older gen that I am so fixated on using combination key presses. I spent years using WordPerfect as a full-time word processing worker, so having to move my hand ALL THE WAY over to the mouse makes me crazy. LOL.  I do so much ctrl-C ctrl-V that sometimes my hand cramps up.  But I can avoid that by using my two index fingers instead of using just one hand. That doesn't come as naturally, though.

Though she was not nearly as annoying as I expected outside of 'oh I make my own jica at home' and 'oh you have not tasted jica?'

That was my thought . . . I expected to find her a lot more annoying, but at least with what they showed, she was OK for the most part.

Even though this show is long in the tooth, there are still plenty of people who watch it versus watching the news, and if one person learned something new or had their mind changed, then this episode was worth it.

I was thinking that even if nobody changes their mind, maybe this episode will convince some additional people to go vote for women's health rights next week.

Not necessarily.  A 10-year-old rape victim had to drive to Indiana to get an abortion because she couldn't get one in Ohio.  The new/old laws are so messed up that I can't even type this without getting angry...

That's different than someone's life inevitably being in danger from an ectopic pregnancy. I must admit it's mind-boggling to think that legislators believe doctors should wait until the life actually is in danger rather than prevent that from occurring beforehand. The doctors know what's going to happen.

Just to clarify, I am totally pro-choice and think it's outrageous that a 10-year-old rape victim has to go out of state for an abortion.

  17. I have a problem believing this woman could not find any doctor in her part of Idaho who would terminate an ectopic pregnancy. Her own doctor wouldn't, but surely there are others because technically doing so is not illegal there. The law says abortions are allowed to save the woman's life.

I'm also confused about where they were going when the highway traffic got jammed up. I was thinking they could bring the woman back to Pullman, but that's only like 10 miles.

  18. For me, putting a pizza box in the refrigerator not only takes up a lot of space, but it also dries out the leftover pizza and makes it taste a bit like cardboard. I was intrigued by the container, but we mainly store leftover frozen pizza that we cut in squares. Many restaurants that serve pizza in the Green Bay area also cut them in squares. So big plastic containers work best for that. Wax paper in between levels of slices if necessary.

I did not like the live show aspect at all, for reasons that have all been mentioned here already.

I think Kai and Amelia have more chemistry but I think Caterina Scorcese can generate chemistry with anyone. I just don’t feel like the pairing is as amazing as Amelia/the show keeps trying to tell us it is. As already said it just feels like they’re trying to tick the LGBQT box given nobody can stand Schmidt and the wooden plank he calls his boyfriend.

To me, it feels like they're trying to tick the unconventional pronouns box.
