Austin resident here.  The city of Austin has no tornado sirens.  And we don't have basements because most of Austin sits on limestone covered with a thin layer of soil--too hard to dig into.

Wouldn't they have had weather warnings from local news?   If they were watching a subscription service or even a cable channel, those warnings would not have come through.  You only get their notifications if you are watching the particular channel.  I can speak to this because I compulsively watch bad weather warnings and reports, shuffling between channels to see who's reporting live.  I don't know why...

I guess a better question is why he didn't have any of the dozens of weather apps that will ping your phone when something is going on.

Some cable systems will interrupt programming on all channels for tornado warnings. Doesn't help if you are watching a streaming service. This is why having a weather radio is so vital. If you don't have one, you need one.

I read an obituary recently that used the word "expire' which was  used more frequently in the past.  Another euphemism for "died" that was also used often was 'succumbed."  No one seems to "die' anymore much in obits,  the term I most often see is "passed on" or just "passed."

Passed has been used in the southern US by African Americans as long as I can remember.

My family likes to use "gone home to Heaven" but they are super religious

I would never want to be seen as sticking up for Red Rock, but . . . if the hospital actually sued the patient, that would indicate that the patient had truly made no effort at all to pay at least a minimum towards the bill.  Yes, hospitals will offer payment plans.  And every hospital I've ever encountered has an indigent care program where all or large parts of the bills are written off for those who can't pay.   There is no other business where we would fault the business for trying to collect a bill owed to them.  Hospitals are just an easy target.

Georgia nitpick - I've actually been thru Calhoun County, which is located in southwest GA (not to be confused with the town of Calhoun which actually is in north GA) and it is about as far away from Atlanta as you can get and stay in the state (both geographically and culturally).  Trust me, there is not a mountain in sight.  And there would be numerous hospitals in various towns between the two locations.

There are lots of examples where the minimum is out of reach for many people.

I just noticed that, under Dorian's name, her occupation (?) was "creeler". What the heck is that?

A creeler is the person who is responsible for overseeing the yarn in a industrial weaving facility. Since she is from Georgia, she likely works at one of the giant carpet mills.

I thought the same thing:  a dentist at 24?  He seems nice enough.....will the dark side emerge?

In many countries, a dentist only has a bachelor level degree plus a year of residency type work. I know that is the case in India.

Yes. Daniel Gil bothers me to no end. I don't enjoy watching him succeed on the course because his personality grates on me so hard. I find myself actively rooting against him, and feeling happy whenever he fails.

Until last season he always was shown with stank face watching other ninjas. He never seemed part of the community. I am not sure how much of it is editing versus personality but he just came off as sanctimonious, especially with his religous schitck.

  7. I feel like Amber exhibits many symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder. I formerly co-parented with someone with BPD and it's hard. Sometimes I felt I had to go along to keep things sane, and to keep them from going back to court for every single thing. I empathize with Gary. Not to mention I am sure Leah is upset and may have wanted Gary to go.

  8. I feel like Emily's mom was selfish. Her daughter is in the home stretch of running communications for a presidential campaign, and her mother's death is going to seriously impact how her daughter is able to perform what might be the biggest job of her career.

  9. I'm going to make a prediction about how I think this might go down.

CPS will put some reunification plan in place and part of that will likely be the removal of the guns from The Land. I can't see UBT complying. He will cry about his rights, but his guns are more important than his kids.

Regardless I don't see Jenelle ever getting primary custody of the Roll back.
