  1. In the game, Joel and Ellie never meet Frank.  They do meet Bill, and he's an asshole gay "survivalist" like in the show.  However, he lives in run-down, overrun downtown instead of the suburbs, and Frank, who's still his lover, lives elsewhere and is discovered to have hanged himself.

I liked the deviations from the game, but I do miss some of the interactions between Ellie and Bill and some awesome fight scenes with the infected.

  2. A missed opportunity in the series, though not for the game since it was released in 2013, is that according to some studies fungal infections in humans are becoming increasingly common due to decreases in our average body temperature -- ironically due to advancements in medical science.

I get the nostalgia for the early seasons, but they really weren't very good, terrible writing, poor characterisation that fails to define what individual character stand for, characters flip flopping between different ideas and personalities just to accommodate sloppy writing, characters withholding important information for no good reason other than to drive the plot.

I had to check to make sure I wasn't in the Lost forum.

  4. Some thoughts:

    • This season's antagonists -- including the Governor or Xavier (played by Gerardo Celasco, who looks like a handsome Latino Michael Sheen) -- have barely made  appearances, and this has made for pretty week conflict IMO.
    • ABC needs to spin Tegan off onto her own show -- I'd watch the hell out of Amirah Vann's Tegan.
    • Say what you will about Walmart Wes, but Rome Flynn is a total biscuit.  I could watch an entire series of Gabriel and Frank playing shirtless basketball.

  5. I enjoy the show, but a plot hole I can't forgive is that Serena could go to Canada or wherever, find a willing sperm donor, and give birth to her own fucking baby.

She was reacting to the shock of her ancestors reanimating and trying to kill her.

Is that what was happening?  I couldn't see shit.  The lighting was worse than any night scene in TWD.

  8. A really stupid episode.  I have nothing new to add to the discussion, but I'll join the chorus by stating that the girl looked at least 18 (an actual 13 year old would have better served the episode), and the stepfather inadvertently opened up a whole can of worms by killing the drama teacher.  What a dumbass.

Trying not to go off on a rant but I never understand why people do those DNA things.

I'm 51 and adopted, and I found my birth father, now deceased, through Ancestry about three months back through a DNA link to his half-sister.

  10. So as Eugene and Rosita were hiding in the mud on the creekbank while the Walker herd moseyed on by, I was watching with headphones and heard something like, "[unintelligible] ... do not let them get away."  What was that all about???

How is a lawyer smart enough to get her client off on a warrant issue, dumb enough to let him run him mouth like that?

Smarter writing would have had her at least attempt to and then him brush her off -- she's a woman, after all.
