  1. Ah, BB2. The peak of the Big Brother franchise and savior of the series. Hardy's slow descent into madness, Monica and the purple dishwasher monkey incomprensibility, douchebag Mike at the finale in his powder blue leather jersey proposing to Krista, crying Bunky and his unexpected and sweet friendship with Kent, autumn losing her mind over Shannons bag of chips, Nicole desperately wanting to hate fuck Will and losing her mind because of it, and the banners being flown over the house driving all of the houseguests out of their minds.

Then of course there is the evil, sexy, manipulative, charming Dr Will. I started off hating him then finding him funny enough to love to hate, and then just out right loving him. First and only time that's ever happened with a BB contestant. Still my favourite.

  2. While Nigel seriously over praised it, I still thought the Ricky and Jessica contemporary piece was a standout. I surprised myself by actually saying "wow" out loud when Ricky did that one armed cart wheel in sort of slow motion, and really appreciated the connection the two dancers had. That being said, it was hardly "the best dance ever".

I was glad to come here and find out that the ballerinas did do a crappy performance and it wasnt just me being uneducated about how it should have been danced. From the way the Russian choreographer was NOT enthusiastic in his applause I figured they had blown it but wasn't sure.

The tap routine was fun to watch and clearly very demanding on the dancers. I like to them using a prop like the stairs instead of just having them tapping around the stage. The "night shift" hip hoppers were also fun.

The rest of the routines really didn't standouts in either direction for me so I guess they were okay. I think one of the ballerinas will be going home but I have no idea which guy is gone.

  3. (Wanders in, checks out the new digs, settles in for the season)

Hey, y'all. (Waves at former TWoP posters). Another season another batch of idiot hamsters for us to snark at. Speaking of which…

Devin you are an idiot. Six people in alliance is probably too many to hold together for the entire summer and now you want to bring it up to eight? And you add these random two girls, out your alliance, and don't tell your alliance about it ahead of time? I give you until week three before they nominate your ass and send you out the door for being an idiot and too much of a loose cannon.

Props to barista girl for just going along with being the bomb squad add on. Information is an important to have at this stage and the more people who think you're on their side the better off you're going to be. Also, props to Donnie for having the patience not to leap off the swing and drown powpow in the fake champagne. And props to the challenge designers that was one of their better ideas in some time.

A promising start to the new season. I will remain cautiously optimistic until everyone starts pissing me off which should happen around week three or four.

  4. I just caught an old movie on TCM, "if this is Tuesday it must be Belgium", staring a very young and almost unrecognizable Ian Mcshane. It's from 1969 and he plays a tour guide for a whirlwind nine countries 18 day Americans see Europe type of tour. At. 27 he was very handsome but didn't have the mesmerizing intensity he gained when he got older. But he still had more than enough charisma to get me to enjoy the whole movie.

  5. "Given all the fuckin' givens" is one I have been able to work into my everyday conversations quite easily.

I've had opportunity in the last decade ( god how time fuckin flies!) to get other people to watch Deadwood. Most people end up loving it but a number were turned off by the swearing or couldn't follow the ornate and oblique speech. But most who didn't watch past the first ep or two said it was just too dirty for them. Literally too much filthy bodies and gross clothes and such. What has been the reactions for y'all?

  6. "I'm sorry, baby. It will never happen again. You can believe me this time." David Milch, to fans.

I was once able to use the phrase "unauthorized cinnamon" at a coffee place. Many confused looks but one guy cracked up so I figured he was a fan. I have yet to find an opportunity to legitimately use the phrase "pussy half-price for the next 15 minutes" so it still on my bucket list.

  7. Hey, all you pussy lickers and cocksuckers!  I loved this show back in the day, once I got past all the swearing and grossness.  It became so Shakespearean in nature for me that I ended up hearing the fucks etc as the equivalent of a "bodkin" or "forsooth" when watching Hamlet or Macbeth.  I will always rue the day that HBO and Miltch abandoned this show after the third season in favour of that horrid John from Cincinnati.

I still can't look at a can of peaches without snickering and wondering if there's any cinnamon around.

  8. For me I can point to Wendingo as to when Sam started becoming less sympathetic than his brother. Dean is all saving people hunting things and wants to stick around to find the missing kids and kill the monster. Sam was all Dad's not here let's leave who cares if people are dying. Variations of this theme have been played out over the last nine seasons, with Sam being less concerned generally about collateral damage as long as he gets to his goal. Dean has tended to be more concerned about the big picture and minimizing the harm to everyone along the way.

One of the positive things about the Mark of Cain story line, is that it changed this dynamic. Over the course of the season Dean has gotten to a point where he has no fucks to give about much of anything. Saving people and hunting things has been replaced by "kill now and often". I'm guessing that demon Dean will have negative fucks to give and won't even understand the concept of collateral damage. I'm not saying he'll end up doing utterly unforgivable horrible things but the likelihood is he won't care how the job gets done and if anyone get hurt along the way.

  9. Aw, I loved this show back in the day.  Tons of gunfire and explosions, but no injuries or blood.  The poster child for mindless violence and pure escapism.  I remember my cousins and I pretending to be the A-Team and storming other kid's backyards and tree forts.  I, of course, was Hannibal, and my rallying cry was "A direct frontal assault with a half pincher movement.  It can't miss!"

But now, in hindsight, oi, it was so very cheesy and I wince at the dialogue and formulaic plots.
