  1. Alright...got hot chocolate* ready, with my Corgi and a blanket in my lap (my border collie may or may not join me, but at least one of the dogs hangs with me when I watch SOA).

    I'm ready to go...lets ride!

*I realize I should be doing a Sons tribute and drinking black coffee, but I know I'm going to be up late, anyhow. Don't need any extra caffeine!

  2. I agree with others regarding Sutter: he seems to think he is way more clever than her is. While I have generally found this show entertaining, it isn't really great television (as far as the writing - I have found myself suspending disbelief all the time - the acting is often very good). And I can't really watch the after shows: can't stand Sutter's love of his own work and everyone else's brown nosing.

  3. Wendy getting custody?  Why not?  It's not like there are a lot of great option for these kids.  There doesn't seem to be any other family members to contest anything, not unless Tara's got parents or something who could show up and try and get Thomas.  And she is Abel's biological mother and the state usually does try to keep children with a birth parent if at all possible. It's not like the state's really all that eager to put kids into foster care.  Which probably wouldn't be that big of an improvement over whatever Wendy and Nero have to offer.

As far as I remember, Tara's mother has been dead for a while and she inherited her father's house and car when he died. So I don't believe Tara has any family that we know of - I don't ever remember her mentioning siblings or anything.

I guess there is always Jax's Irish half-sister Trinity! (But her family's involved with the IRA!)

  4. Raised by Herschel!

    Trained by Daryl!

    Killed by Dawn!

    Meet The New Beth Greene!

    Say Good-bye, New Beth Greene!

Meet the new Beth...same as the old Beth.

So on a related note, I read an interview with a Sons of Anarchy actor today. In it, (spoiler is for SOA, not TWD)

Dayton Callie said he didn't know Unser would be killed until he read the script for the penultimate episode, "Red Rose."

That person was a way more established actor/character than Emily Kinney and didn't know a key plot development ahead of time. While you could claim some difference because all SOA actors knew they were filming the last season, I still think it demonstrates that Emily's short notice is far from unusual.

  5. ...and somewhere, cancer is sitting with its head in its hands, sobbing.

Well. Lots of checks on the list tonight: Juice, done, Unser, done, Gemma, done, tons of random guys, done. The club at this point is a bunch of serial killers who, with the exception of Happy, are too dumb to know it. All the loyalty oaths and hugging come across as obscene gestures.

Jax's expression as he set up Wendy and the boys going to the ranch was priceless. He was literally telling himself that they're going to a farm where they'll be happier. Sweet as it was, I couldn't buy the whole "Nero wants Unser to get Gemma out of Jax's line of fire" to save Jax, though. When you think about it, Nero hardly knows Jax, and every single association he has with him has been disastrous and blood-soaked. If I were him I'd be grabbing Wendy and the kids and low-rider-tailing it the fuck outta Charming, yelling PEACE OUT as I sped by the garage.

Charisma Carpenter giving Gem a hard time at the check in! I could see "I saved the world once...well, better finish those forms" in her eyes.

Hal Holbrook knocked it out of the park as the God who couldn't forgive Gemma, because he couldn't recognize her. All he had were the memories of before it all went bad. This old man has outlived his entire family--the longest, quietest tragedy on this show.

When Jax walked in on Unser I was expecting the old guy to say "Welp, I tried! Good luck or--ya know!" and just walk out the door. But I guess he was tired of waiting on his slacker cancer to finally get motivated and go to community college or kill him, or whatever.

I dunno, Juice seemed to be suffering plenty in that infirmary. He'd had enough.

Poor Juice. I honestly thought he'd kill Tully and then himself but he had to go out a good soldier. The club had not earned that misplaced, horrible loyalty.

GAHHHH, PLEASE NO.  "C'mon, babe! Third time lucky! You and Nero can teach it to round up all the farm animals into a gang!"

Snookums, I would have liked this comment a dozen times if I could have. And not just because you quoted me. ;) "We shall call ourselves the G** D*** Goats."

Hal Holbrook was awesome. For some reason*, I always think he is dead until he shows up on my tv.

*Because he is 89 years old

  6. I think Happy was the one who killed Alvarez's son, with an icepick.

Yep. At a picnic. Dressed as an ice cream man (or popcorn guy...something like that). With a little paper hat on. Soooo Happy. He was still Tacoma/thinking about going Nomad at that point.

Who the hell has been tending to that garden?

No kidding! When Gemma walked up to the house, I was all "are they paying someone to do the yard work all the time?" Seemed odd, since no one had been there in ages (except for Juice's brief hidey-time there at the beginning of this season).

And...did anyone else think the CGI of Gemma's headshot was a little off? I was tired when I was watching it, but something about it made it seem way too obviously fake to me - like if they didn't want that particular shot, they could have made it more believable effects-wise.

  7. I figured the unwritten rule was "No black folks allowed in the club." The show has been hinting at changing this for a long time, but it's been hard to really see it with the recurring "van full of dead black dudes" joke that the writers keep shoehorning in.

That's what I thought it was, too. But I wanted to see if anyone else had other ideas!

I was thinking, if they patch in the Grim Bastards (even though they are in Lodi - I don't know if that's very close to Stockton), would that help the Niners?

  8. Wow, I actually got a little teary at Gemma's death scene. But you can still rot in that garden, biyotch.

Wasn't expecting Unser to be a casualty...kind of sad, but he was being stubborn and/or suicidal.

RIP, Juice...loyal to the club til the end. You were a bad guy, though; you get all your goodwill because you are played by the awesome Theo Rossi.

I'm actually not surprised Jax did Wendy after all that; he deals with pain that way and I think he knows how the mayhem vote is going to go. BUT...let's hope he didn't bareback another future club member into her!

So next week, I'm guessing we get President Chibs? Will Althea quit the force and become his old lady? Will she become the new Unser? Will Nero and Wendy raise the kids at the farm? Will Tig shack up with Venus? Will Brook tell Rat she is pregnant and they need to get married? Will Barofsky die? Will Marks? Will Tyler (don't kill Tyler, man)? Will the DA arrest everyone? What WAS the unwritten rule Jax wanted abolished? So many questions!

  9. I would dearly love stats on the demographic who signed that petition. I mean, I get being sad/angry/disappointed. I can even understand an angry letter writing campaign, a boycott campaign...anything like that. But a campaign to bring back a character who had a big-ass hole blown clear through her skull?.

Carol could have made it - just a flesh wound for her. ;)

Seriously though, I am not surprised about the petition. People seem to think petitions are magic or something.

  10. It seems like this ep is being pimped out hard on the social media accounts. Sutter tweeted something like "this is the best one ever" with the best acting and blah blah blah.

    We'll see about that, Kurt!

  11. I will kind of miss Beth, actually. I didn't hate her. I even bought her "Be Good" song off iTunes - you're welcome, Emily Kinney.

It was just so sudden. And I also believe that Dawn accidentally fired the gun. But I don't see why Beth thought it was a good idea to stab Dawn with those little scissors: was she just trying to get killed to save Noah?

And Maggie made me sad, even if she hasn't mentioned her sister in a dog's age.

Glad Carol is alive, but TV healing wins again. And glad they picked up Noah.

ETA: add me to the "crazy hot Rick" groupie list.

  12. Squeeeee! I just found this thread! I love looking at and sharing pictures of critters!

    Here are my two pups.

Ummm....can't get the pictures in here! Can't get them on imgur right now and can't seem to link from Dropbox so I will have to try later!

  13. I have been watching old seasons and almost finished season 3 last night. The letters were love letters JT sent to Maureen Ashby (the woman he had been seeing in Belfast, with whom he had a child). Basically he talks about the eunni of his life and how he isn't really bothered by Clay and Gemma's closeness; he is more concerned with the club's direction and the fact that C&G may be planning something "dangerous." IIRC, there is never any proof that Gemma was actually in on anything, just the implications. And you don't really get a sense that John was suicidal.

  14. What if Jax confronts Gemma and

she has a heart attack? I mean she collapsed when she found out Abel was missing in Season 3.

Perhaps Jax never has the opportunity to do the deed?

Don't know if I need to use the spoiler since it's a speculation thread, but there you go!

  15. The possibility of Jax committing suicide has come up a number of times (especially after Jury dropped the suggestion of John's death being a suicide), but what about his boys? Does he really want to abandon Tara's kids (regardless of Wendy) to an unknown fate? Sure, Wendy could take them, but Jax better be damn sure that she is in a position to handle things. Or else who knows what could happen to them?

As far as Gemma, I vacillate between wanting her to go to jail and wanting her to die. SURELY Unser will find out and SURELY he will serve the law (though I wouldn't bet money on it). So hopefully she will end up in jail. Then she could have visitations with the kids (and that would be awful). Of course Unser could be an idiot (he has been before) and he and everyone else who knows the truth could let Gemma live, without letting her return to Charming. Maybe Jax should let someone else kill her.

  16. Can I just ask...wtf is the point of me staying up for the after show, which I do always?? The actors don't say much or give long winded answers filled with shrugs and "uuhh's" and giving all their credit to Sutter who also gives the same exact answers countless times.

They don't even answer the questions directly. They talk about the season as a whole and it's entirety, just answer the friggin question!! Glad I stay up for that.

    Now we wait 2 weeks.....

Yeah, the after shows are pretty lame. I usually FF through most to see someone in particular and, last night, I turned it off early because it is so boring. These are nowhere near as interesting as The Talking Dead. It helps that TTD has a great host who asks good questions. Someone called Anarchy Afterword a "schmooze fest " and that is all it is: ass-kissing and self-congratulations. We don't need to see that every week.

The only after show that I remember before this season was the one after the season 6 finale (with Katey and Maggie). Is this the only season in which they have been a regular occurrence?

  17. Was I supposed to recognize the road sign that Gemma drove past?

Isn't Eureka or somewhere around there where Gemma's dad is in a home?

OMG - Juice was awesome in this Ep! So sad, so confession-y! "Around here, I'm everyone's asshole" or whatever - that made me laugh and then go, "awww, poor Juice."

I knew Barofsky was the rat. It seemed so obvious, even though some interviews with key players made it seem like the rat would be a club member or Chucky. Heck, I was kind of disappointed; some of the batted-around theories about Tig and Chibs were more interesting than the actual reveal.

Jimmy Smits was pretty awesome. The scene on the phone was fantastic. And somebody put some onions in the room when Jax met up with Nero at the end. Jax crying - aww, so sad! No, really.

  18. Strange as it may seem, Juice is one of my favourite characters and has been since he was introduced.  I think it's because I really like the actor.  Plus, I love the relationship he had with Chibs.  Sigh.  (Chibs saying, "Juice-eh" and cupping his neck was so brotherly.  I've always felt that was so loving and warm -- which struck me as slightly out of character for Chibs.  It made me warm up to him and to Juice.  Especially after Chibs was the one to find him post-suicide-attempt.  There was genuine care in Chibs that we'd never really seen before.)

I agree: I've always had a soft spot for Juice. A couple of times I have been really mad at him (like at the end of last season when he killed Roosevelt to protect Gemma), but - dang it - I just can't stay mad at him. Probably because I adore Theo Rossi. He is a runner and a dog lover (like me), plus he has that smile...not to mention a killer set of buns.

  19. Watching the old episodes, I've been so amused by Juice's computer prowess!

Good thing that the iPad was already on, when they got the box with Bobby's eye! Otherwise Jax might have been all "Why did Marks send us this weird etch-a-sketch?"

And season one Jax would have laughed.

  20. I think the IDEA of the club, rather than the members, mean more to Gemma at this point. Which could then lead to her choosing family over the club.

Tara's murder screwed her in multiple ways, though. If Jax knows she did it, even if she avoided jail, he would either kill her or banish her. If she ends up in jail and Jax never knows (due to his death), she still loses her family. I don't think there is any info about the club valuable enough to give her immunity from prosecution for Tara's murder. It seems like the only way she could get away scot-free would be if EVERYONE died, except Thomas. Because Abel will probably never trust her again.
