Thank goodness I'm not the only one who thought Jessica Lange's accent was horrible and impossible to distinguish between German and French. So bad. Bates' accent isn't much better either, some weird mix of Scottish and Irish. Both are unnecessary and distracting. Overall, I think Murphy is trying way too hard this season. Subtly is key. We want to believe these people actually exist in the world. I don't.
Life on Mars is one of my favorite songs of all time, so I really enjoyed that scene.
Also, I've been trained to keep an eye out for foreshadowing of future season themes, "Life on Mars" + Jupiter, Fl = Space, Sci-Fi, Aliens next season?
The clown is the saving grace for me and probably why I will keep watching.
