  1. Aren't GSR tests SOP for any shooting victim that comes from the scene of a multiple murder?

Can somebody tell me why everybody is so quick to believe what Allison says? I would think, after everything that has happened, there would at least be some question as to whether anything that comes out of her mouth is true.

Writers need to drag the show out to episode 13....

  2. During casually mentions that the Red Army passed through his father's estate back in the day. Any chance he's a Rusky too? It might account for sudden change of heart toward Carrie. Maybe he's in the documents too.

There is a theory amongst a descent sized segment of the western intelligence community that the Russians are behind Assange, Wikileaks, Snowden, etc., so it wouldn't be impossible that the show would go that way & include Düring as part of an elaborate Russian web set up to expose US secrets. You'll notice, in real life, the major government document stealing cases always involve the US & her allies.

  3. With this seemingly random & odd behavior from Saul thus far, topped off w/ the sudden bedding of the Berlin Station Chief, is it possible that they are setting him up to be a bad guy by shows end- and his treachery will be shown to have stretched back to being the infamous mole from season 1? Up until now, Saul has always sort of been the moral compass of the show, however, that seems to be changing & rather quickly.

  4. Ding-ding-ding-ding-ding -- we have a winnah!!!  I was thinking "oh, God, another Emmy reel for Claire" the whole time.

Surely by the now the Emmy folks are tired of it as well... I start laughing when I see it now- after my initial groan.

  5. I'm guessing the kill order was dropped off by a Saul look-alike, and is likely connected to her visit to Lebanon. Someone has been watching all of them for a while, to have discovered the kill-plan procedure between Peter and Saul.

There was definitely a Saul look a like at the post office just before Quinn showed up. I enhanced this freeze frame a bit and it's definitely not Mandy Patinkin.

  6. On the other hand, Saul seemed too blasé about flouting another country's laws; the show didn't even attempt a justification. I wonder if I'm supposed to have this impression about both sides.

I think there was some justification given; they specifically mentioned how Berlin (and all of Germany) had become a safe haven of sorts for terrorists, hackers, etc., who take advantage of Germany's strict privacy laws that protect against the German government & police spying on citizens- a policy adopted during reunification & mostly born out of fear of what the East German Stasi did to citizens.

From that (in addition to facts like the 9/11 hijackers organizing in Hamburg, Germany), I believe the audience was supposed to infer that certain measures needed to be taken against these bad actors that are essentially abusing & hiding behind German law. Perhaps that is too much to ask of the audience, but I think that's what they were attempting they do.

  7. I figured their storylines would have probably gone ass over teakettle with the takeover of ISIS. They probably had to scrap months worth of scripts to keep them up to date

Alex Gansa was quoted as saying ISIS was "too evil" for Homeland... A lot of people speculated that they Charlie Hebdo attacks might have had something to do with his stance and I sort of wonder about that too.

  8. Just came across this info about Season 5... It sounds like the writers just gave up but still want the paycheck that comes from Showtime for putting out something under the name Homeland.

"Latinpost.com reported that season 5 will be two and a half years after the events in season 4, and the story will be set in Berlin. There will be drastic changes for the lead character Carrie Mathison, played by Claire Danes. In the fifth season, she is no longer with the CIA, and fans know that she is now a mother. One of the most interesting storylines in the show is Carrie's relationship with someone from the German Intelligence. Even if they are on the same side, their relationship will still get quite rocky."

  9. Harbormaster's death from way back has suddenly come back into play.  I'm sure they'll find a way to slip out of it, but it might be fun watching Lizzie squirm for a bit.  Even if I'm distracted by the actor playing the detective, because he'll always be that slimy lawyer, Maurice Levy, from The Wire to me.

No kidding- he slipped back into sleazy Levy for a bit during that interrogation and it was amazing.

  10. Yeah, so thanks, Super Bowl, my DVR believed the network's timing, so I missed half of Blacklist.  So not amused.

They are replaying the full episode (part 1) on Thursday at 8 PM EST / 7 PM CST just before the new episode (part 2) airs at its new time 9 PM EST / 8 PM CST. Make sure to set your DVR and you'll get to see everything, including what you missed.

  11. The writers seemingly made a mistake in having the F-22s take off from Wright-Patterson as opposed to Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska (which actually has F-22s on base).

Bahaha! Doesn't anyone else on the planet watch TV to just be entertained? I sometimes feel so totally alone because I don't care if all the pieces fit together perfectly, or if the costuming and the history lines up with fact. I don't care, I want to sit down and just enjoy myself for an hour. Hell with plausibility. I am with this show until the end and I hope that doesn't come for several years.

You're not alone; I can forgive a lot of the little details that many nitpick at after each episode. It's a good network TV show and that is all it is supposed to be, IMO. The deep, realistic type shows that are meant to be larger comments on society and whatnot are for the pay cable channels.

  12. I very much like this website as it enables me to comment w/ others about shows I watch; however, in the future, perhaps it might be wise to use reviewers that are slightly more objective, or at least do not seem to have a strong such strong personal feelings about the creators/writers/etc. of the show they are reviewing. I do not mean to be out of line or disrespectful and perhaps the easiest answer to this would be for me to just avoid reading reviews here and simply using the other discussion sections of the website.

Again, thank you for providing this platform. I do not wish to be ungrateful or disrespectful; I'm just adding my (very likely) unwanted 2 cents.

  13. Really now? Why on earth would she even think about contacting the police. Sexism in the workplace is not, actually, illegal.

Discrimination based on sex/gender is ABSOLUTELY against the law (especially in CA) and nothing would've stopped her from filing complaint with California's state board and the EEOC. Furthermore, she could have contacted a lawyer and filed a lawsuit – it would've been taken on a contingency fee and she wouldn't have to pay a dime.

    How delightfully meta.

I'm sorry, could you explain what your mean? I'm not up on the latest lingo....

  14. I got that, but so what? Meh, I seem to be one of the only people who thought that whole "Imaginary character" stuff was Playwriting 101. I've seen better from high school students.

I thought it finally made Will realize he just has to give people the news; not recivilize society through each newscast.

  15. It's not. You're right that most of the time the cast has very little input about the dialogue or story, same with junior writers. But I'd guess they still have an opinion. I just don't believe they never thought or talked about it at all. Emily Mortimer once (very tactfully) said that she thought the complaints about sexist portrayals of women on the show were untrue, so they may say something at some point. But with the exception of Jane Fonda who's a bit of a loud mouth (and I love her), Olivia Munn and Emily Mortimer are generally pretty classy. They may just say nothing, which is fine...I'm just curious.

But as far as what this woman said, which may or may not be true (I have no idea), I do negatively judge anyone who bashes on Twitter but won't file a formal complaint. If Aaron Sorkin is so bad that we need to discuss his overbearing sexism in the workplace, take it up with HR, HBO, or the police. Otherwise, it's petty and a clear attempt to discredit someone in a public forum.

It has all the hallmarks of someone looking for their 15 minutes of fame. Just my opinion.

  16. Does that "measly" 2% (if that's even true) of wrongly accused start to bother folks when we consider the multi-millions that we have incarerated in the US prison system (and I know all are not for rape or sex crimes)?

2% of just 500,000 is what, 10,000 wrongly accused folks?

Yesterday, I learned here that Will had an imaginary friend. I was so excited to share this new info with my 14yo daughter that Will was actually alone in the cell.

Her reply: "Duh Mom, and Will's dad beat his mom too...."

Ha! That's good stuff; gotta love the teen years!

Yes I get the analogy don was making was online revenge. But it doesn't hold. Sloan did pose for the pictures. What's being publicized isn't a lie, just something that should be private.

Yes I see the possibility of misuse of such a site. But the show in my opinion didn't show how by using that lame analogy,

It had more to do w/ the whole idea of unwarranted invasion of privacy.... And damaging public exposure
