Just seeing the sad news now. Poor Susan. First mourning Bill's loss now. Then in 6 months or so, mourning Doug's loss onscreen.

Hey everyone! I haven't been here in months, since I can no longer easily watch Days. But I'm been reading some things online which I'd like to see, and am going to ask a friend to record some episodes for me, off of the W Network here in Canada.
Would love to know when to tape the following:
Victor's funeral
Episodes with DVD

I feel like I only log into this site now when an actor or celebrity dies. I think the last times were John Aniston and Barbara Walters. Both were much older, though, than Andrea Evans.
I don't remember a lot about her time as Tina, as I didn't watch OLTL as regularly as some of the other soaps, but I absolutely recognized her name when I saw it trending on Yahoo News, and was saddened to see why. Another actor around my age gone. ☹️

This is a nice tribute. I didn't realize till I read the post above that Jenny McCarthy was there while Barbara was still there, but you can see her at the table in the retirement clips with all the women journalists.

If they could have brought that TWAT, Chipmunk via Skype/Zoom, whatever, would it have killed them to ask Rosie to appear?
"An ABC rep and a spokesperson for the League of Our Own actress both confirmed that O’Donnell, 60, was invited to take part in the special episode, TVLine reports. However, the former cohost had prior commitments. “She is on a plane and couldn’t change her schedule,” her representative explained."

I watched today for the first time in years, as I wanted to see the Barbara tribute.
It was nicely done. A little too much Elisabeth for my liking, but everything she said was fine. LOL at typical The View technical issues and having to resort to Whoopi and signs.
Speaking of Whoopi, I thought she looked really good.
Was great seeing Joy too, and hearing her memories of Barbara.
This was the first time I've seen the new co-host, who's name I don't even know. Seemed strange having her there, but I suppose she, as well as Sunny and Sarah, are current co-hosts and it might have been weird to sit them out.
Loved seeing Debbie and Lisa. As well as Sherri and Star. Too bad Meredith couldn't have been there, or at least been on video instead of phone.
Not surprised Rosie O wasn't involved, but glad they included her in video clips.
Loved all the video clips at the end.
Nice ending with just Barbara talking, and the pic of her chair.
She was a trail blazer, and though I don't currently watch The View, I did for many, many years, and always enjoyed when she was at the table. RIP Barbara.

Just checked Rosie's site, and she posted this touching Instagram post about Barbara. Made me a little teary watching it.

I haven't been watching since the move to Peacock, but did see the John Aniston tribute, and it made me cry. Particularly the scene with Victor and Stefano. Two great actors the show was lucky to have for so many years.

If you are in Canada, the first 12 seasons are on Gem.
Thank you! I checked again, and could only find The Great British Baking Show, but Google informed me it's the same show as The Great British Bakeoff.

I totally forgot about this show until a week or so ago, and by then it was too late to watch live. So I've been watching on Gem, and just finished last night.
What a lovely group of bakers. I don't think there was even 1 I didn't like, and hated seeing one leave each week
Like some of you, I wondered if they'd go with 4 for the finale, as they were all so good. But I was still happy with the 3 finalists, and was thrilled that Lauren won. She is such an amazing baker for such a young age.
I'm always so amazed at the creative designs they come up with, but even more so the flavour combinations.
I wish I'd been able to watch and post with all of you. Hopefully next year.
Meanwhile, I can at least post about the Holiday Special, which I'll be watching tonight.
Quick question, is GBBO Great British Bake Off. If so, where are you all watching it.

What is it they say, "you don't know what you've got, till it's gone". That's how I feel about Days. Still can't believe it's no longer on regular TV. I did manage to find yesterday's episode online, but the "commercial" breaks were painful, and then the whole thing froze on me, so I gave up. 🙁

I caught it on Global just now - I watch Global Edmonton, as it airs at noon here in B.C. (I have the time shift channels.)
Just curious, was there anything announcing that it would be no longer airing on Global?
-
I decided to turn on the show today to watch the final episode on Global, not thinking that, of course, Global would be airing coverage of the Queen's passing. Since I don't have cable, I won't be able to watch Days on W network, so I guess that's it for me. I'll try to see if I can watch online, but I'm not hopeful.
Sad that this is the way my 40-ish years of being a Days fan ends. Well, I guess I'll still be a fan, just not a viewer. ☹️

Have a hug, Buff. I feel you. But keep your chin up and your eyes open - clever people might find ways to help the unsubscribed masses out. You never know.
Thanks DisneyBoy. I'll definitely keep my eyes open for a way to watch. As much as I grumble about the show, and don't watch from time to time, I'm not ready to give it up permanently.
11 hours ago, DisneyBoy said:Yeah, it's hard losing a show like this. I miss the feeling of stability good soaps provided. They were always there for us. Things change.
That's the thing, for 40-ish years, whenever I wanted to, I'd turn on the TV and there Days would be. It's been on at different times of day, over the years. And at one point, it even aired a day earlier in Canada than in the US. But for it to no longer be "over the air" just seems like such a shock. But things are changing, and I guess soon nothing will be free anymore.

I think I'm officially in mourning.
Even though I've barely watched Days all summer, and had a long hiatus in the early 2000's, I've been a fan of the show since around 1982, and knew it would always be there when I wanted to watch. Even when life was too busy to watch regularly, I'd turn it on during vacation and holidays from work, particularly at Christmas time. And since 2014 I've been back watching semi-regularly.
I always knew the show was on borrowed time, and might not be renewed each year. But with the 2-year renewal I let my guard down, thinking I had at least 2 more years to watch the lives of my Salem friends. In no way did I ever think the show would leave free over the air tv and go to a paid subscription type airing. I thought when it ended, they'd have, an ending, and we'd all wish the Salemites farewell.
But this move to Peacock in the US, and W Network in Canada, is I guess a compromise for viewers willing to pay $$ to watch the show, but I suspect it's going to leave many fans Days-less.
I don't have cable, and am not going to get it for one show. My other option would be to get Amazon Prime, and then subscribe to Stack TV which includes W network. But that would be about $25 (plus tax) a month, and don't think I want to pay that right now to watch one show.
So in 5 days, after approximately 40 years, Days will no longer be there when I want to visit John and Marlena, and all the other Salemites.
I didn't think I'd be this upset by the news, but truth is, I'm really sad.
I do hope the show is successful in its new format, and I hope most of my fellow posters here will still be able to watch. I'll miss you guys too, btw. It's the end of an era.

There is some speculation now that Global (which airs DOOL in Canada) may retain rights, so it would still be available to us on regular cable TV.
I'm not sure if that makes me happy or prolongs my suffering... 😆
LOL. I know the feeling. Part of my is ready for it to end, and the other part wants it to go on forever.
16 hours ago, DisneyBoy said:That would be nice, but I'm doubtful of Doug's ability to deliver dialogue at this point. He hasn't been on since last fall, I think, and appeared weak then...

The silence from Days is rather deafening. Makes me wonder if this is a soft cancellation meaning the remaining episodes they taped will air on Peacock and no more. If that's the case Days could very well end in a random episode and not get a proper finale..
One of the mods on Daytime Royalty posted that the news came out earlier than the show was intending. And that when that has happened in the past, Ken Corday and TPTB, just ignore the news, and finally make their "announcement" when it was originally intended. So maybe they'll say something eventually.

Today show was kind of boring.
I turned it on briefly yesterday, and also found it boring.
And though this isn't a new issue, I was seriously distracted by all of them, particularly the women, wearing winter like long sleeved clothes.
How I miss the days (pun intended) when they'd have scenes that depicted the season as being summer. Like something on a beach. Or even just a picnic in murder park.

Now that the news has had time to settle in, I too am feeling really sad. Though I didn't watch for a long time in the early 2000's, I've been a fan since around 1982, and have been watching regularly again since 2014.
I've always known the show would end, likely sooner than later, but I thought it would be announced in advance, and the writers would have time to wrap things up.
This way, fans who don't have Peacock, or don't want to pay to watch their show, will just not get to see it anymore after Sep 9th. And unless they've known about this for 6+ months and wrote things to cover the change, that Friday show will likely end just like any other Friday show, not like the last show of a 50+ year era.
I'm cautiously optimistic that Global Canada will continue airing the shows, but won't be surprised if they don't.

Wonder if Global in Canada will continue to air it.
2 minutes ago, RunningMarket said:Good question (as a fellow Canuck). I doubt it though, since it will now be on a paid streaming service.
Well, it's been a good run folks.
Another Canuck here, also wondering what that means for us. At first I thought maybe it would continue as is. But then I saw some speculative comments on Twitter about the episode lengths possibly changing, or no longer being 5 days a week, plus that they'd now be able to put more adult content in the show, all of which might mean it would no longer be compatible with Global's afternoon airtime.
I guess we'll find out soon, but I'm feeling pessimistic. 😟

Is Jake turning back into Stefan or is Rolf implanting his memories in Jake? I knew when Gabby went on about Stefan being her true love, we were getting him back somehow.
From today's episode we learned that Stefan has been kept alive by machines the past 4 years. Rolf could have brought him back to life when he first died, except Gabi gave Stefan's heart to Julie before Rolf could intervene. So Stefan has had a mechanical heart ever since, just waiting for a donor heart, and there is no better match than that from an identical twin.
So Stefan, presumably, will be Stefan and all his own memories, just with his twin's heart.

The Great Canadian Baking Show - General Discussion
in The Great Canadian Baking Show
I just finished watching on GEM. Did anyone else watch this season?
