I started watching this because I like the actors, I don’t know much about The real life George and Tammy. And I am not country music fan so I guess I was just watching this for the nostalgia. Can’t really get into it as of yet. I will say that the scene in episode one at the dinner table with the whole family and George was a little bit upsetting if this really happened in front of those kids. So far no one is very likable.
It really happened. George’s version of the story from his book is that both him and the husband had been drinking. Tammy and her husband started arguing when the husband started insulting her. George already had feelings for her, so didn’t like that and flipped the table. Tammy’s version also had him throwing the chair through the window.
They don’t have a happy story at all. He was a violent drunk, and she ends up addicted to pain pills due to a bad hysterectomy.
If I remember correctly their daughter gave Jessica permission to tell the full story warts and all.

Is that where they fimed this season too?
Not 100% sure but I think so.

Per multiple Twitter accounts, They’ve already started filming season four in Serbia.
I wonder if they’ll do them back to back again.

They talked up HBOMax so unless something changes, they’re still going to do some scripted shows. I think there’s still going to be some cancellations and dropped content but that wasn’t announced.
They could’ve done without the man vs woman slide. Basically HBOMax = Men and Discovery+ = women. The only Discovery show I watch/use is Mythbusters and that’s just for some of their experiments for my science classes. Also, they had 90 Day Fiancé as a major franchise alongside their DC content, Game of Thrones, and Harry Potter.

This is all rumors so far.
From what I can gather, he’s trying to erase the WB debt they took on with the merger by using tax write offs or whatever you call it. They’re supposedly firing 70% of the HBOMax development department which would mean little to no original scripted content. Some of the successful HBOMax originals will go to the HBO cable network or be sold off to other streaming services. Some will be like the Batgirl and Scooby movies and will canceled to recoup the money through taxes. If they cancel a show for tax purposes, it’ll supposedly disappear because no profit can be made from that show.
There’s a meeting later today where people will get a better idea of what’s going to happen. However, they’ve already announced Magnolia content from Chip and Joanna Gaines joining HBOMax in September, so I don’t have high hopes.

Discovery is killing HBO Max and canceling shows in production--some that have completely wrapped and are ready to go.
I'm so sad. This was the best service.
It’s probably the streaming service I watch the most. My yearly payment is coming up, so I switched to monthly until I know what their new streaming service is like. No way I’m keeping it for the Discovery+ shows I never watch. I’ve been trying to figure out which shows I watched are HBO vs HBO Max. May need to do some HBOMax binging since they’re already canceling and/or disappearing things.

I tried to watch Happy Valley on AMC+, as I just got it. It says I can only watch if I get the Free Crackle App. 🥴……..so, I got season 1 on Prime. I’ll figure out seasons 2 and 3 later. May need Crackle. Lol
No idea why it came up as Crackle unless it’s one of those prime things where you have to choose ‘More Ways to Watch’. It’s still showing up as AMC+ for me both through prime and their streaming app. I have AMC+ through a $1 a month special for the entire year.
You don’t have to worry about season three yet. It was being filmed this spring.

I just started watching State of the Union (Season 2) after getting my 99 cents special on Prime deal. I started with season 2, because Patricia Clarkson is one of my best friends….in my mind. Lol. She’s featured in season 2. I admire her as an actress. We’ll see what else AMC+ has to offer. I was already getting AMC through my cable service.
If you haven’t seen it yet, Happy Valley is on AMC+. It was well reviewed and won some tv BAFTAs.

No, unfortunately. The subscription starts the day you sign up for them. But on the bright side, Amazon promotes these .99 cent specials a lot throughout the year. This is tied to Prime Day, but check back around major US holidays and they often have them then. I have not paid more than .99 for a slew of streaming channels in years. I especially like it during Thanksgiving or Christmas when I have the time off to sit and binge.
this time around I got PBS masterpiece so I can catch up on Sanditon and Endeavor. And Paramount Plus so I can catch up on Strange New worlds that I had to drop after after my last .99 cent Paramount plus ended a couple months ago.
If you haven’t watched Miss Scarlet and the Duke on pbs, I recommend it.
I also do the 99¢ specials especially around the holidays. I watched Yellowjackets that way. They do those 99¢ specials for Black Friday or cyber Monday too.

I’d like a season three only because I’m wondering if part of the quality drop was due to Covid and the scrapping of their original plans. There had to be more changed than just adding the Laura Peterson character. Also, it’d be nice for Jennifer and Reese’s scenes/storylines not to be separated due to Covid bubbles. I hated the Italy stuff, so that’d probably be gone too. As good as Steve is I never cared about Mitch. I never understood Alex’s pull towards him because I swear their first time having sex sounded like date rape when they talked about it back in season one. I definitely could be remembering wrong.

The Bradley/brother scene reminded me of Abby and her mom on ER. I’m still bitter that Maura Tierney didn’t win an Emmy for her work in those scenes.

I’ve always liked Tafoya as a sideline reporter but this appearance changed my opinion of her, and it wasn’t for the best.
Also you can’t tell me Kaepernick wouldn’t have been better than what the cowboys had playing in place of Dak last year. He was never going to get that chance because Jerry won’t allow Kneeling. It’s never been about his talent level because he definitely could be a backup. Unless he’s refusing to be a backup.

I was really impressed by Mickey Guyton!! I'm a lapsed country music fan & barely knew her. She has a lovely voice & seems like a very nice person whose "paid her dues". I'm glad they introduced her to their "viewers".
To be fair, even if you did still listen to country radio you may not know her. She finally had her breakthrough because of online media and streaming. Country radio won’t play her music. They’ll play a redneck that likes to throw around the N-word but not Mickey’s well-reviewed solo stuff.

Just so you know HBO Max is offering 6 months at 50% to try and bring back people who subscribed through Prime. The deal is good through Sept. 26th.
That’s what I ended up doing.

I’m confused about this HBO vs Prime ordeal. I have/had HBO through Prime. I received the email about my HBO subscription being canceled, but I’m still watching HBO Max right now. Wonder how long that will last.

Fun seeing Louanne Stephens (Ruby from Longmire, Grandma Saracan from Friday Night Lights) in the opening act as the woman in the car.
Thank you. It was driving me crazy trying to remember where I saw her from.

There is supposedly one more episode C Is For Cop before a 4 week hiatus. Not sure why a streaming service even a weekly one is doing a hiatus. Maybe the Olympics or maybe CBS is still stuck in a half and half mode even for pay services.
Katja Herbers has been telling people they need time to edit. They probably should’ve just delayed the start of the season.

They really toned down the sexual attraction angle between these two.
I’m not surprised they toned down Kristen and David after I saw an interview with everyone in the show. The Kings mentioned being bitten by the obsession with two characters on The Good wife, and people ignoring other things on that show. I would be okay with Kristen and David being best friends because I really liked their friendship season one. I’d also be okay with a relationship down the road. Hopefully wherever they head with it, they tread lightly with her having four kids. Also I prefer there to be no adultery between the two characters especially if he actually goes through with being a priest.
I’m liking Sister Andrea, and I do think she’s good. She’s helping David believe in himself even if the ammonia is cheating.
If she’s not losing her mind, I’m thinking Kristen has a good Jinn because it’s always around when she’s tempted.

What weird mixed message, renewed>hiatus! I hope it's not one of those shows that's give a take backsie. I hope that's more about getting the show into a cycle of airing in the fall/Halloween marketing.
Wasn't sure where to put this but I strongly recommend if you can, to check out Katja Herbers new to American Dutch film The Columnist, it is very much in the arch horror / serious issue vein of Evil and at one point both Herbers and the actress who plays her daughter use a nervous tick that Herbers has also used for Kristen, where she cycles each finger touching her thumb. I loved the movie but certainly it could be divisive, and shares a lot of the same ground with last years much bigger Oscar nominated Promising Young Woman, but I think that film lacked the courage of this one's convictions and was both tonally/morally muddled. This one keeps it simple, and lets the cheerfully malicious revenge story play out to fully campy surreal effect.
I’m betting it’s an editing issue. When they found out they were going streaming, they went back and added a scene to at least one of the first five episodes. I think they said they originally cut it because they knew it wouldn’t get past the CBS censors. Plus Katja gave editing as the reason when someone asked Paramount+ to make all the episodes available.
I started watching The Good Wife late, so I’ll either keep it for that or do what I usually do and cancel temporarily.
I second watching The Columnist. It was interesting. Katja was great, and it had funny bits mixed in. I liked it more than Promising Young Woman too.

For those that were wanting to see it, Ashes to Ashes is coming to Brit Box US on July 20th. I know the Dailymotion app and website can be annoying with the ridiculous amount of commercials.
I get the streamer through Prime and immediately turn off auto renew when I want to watch something on Brit Box. I don’t know if the regular Brit Box app is that easy.

I came across a lovely Spanish drama on Prime called The Vineyard (La Templanza is the Spanish title). I'm only on episode 7 but am enjoying it quite a lot, it's filling my need for an epic drama like Outlander or Bridgerton. It's lush, romantic, gorgeously filmed and the moment the lead characters meet is electric. (It should be watched with subtitles, the dubbing is terrible, the true voices of the actors gives it so much more emotion.) Here is the trailer (you don't need to understand Spanish to get the gist):
I liked it too, and it’s definitely better with subtitles and the original language. I’ve been doing Duolingo, and I was that Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme while watching. “Hey I understood that phrase!!”
During the beginning of the pandemic I also watched a French show called Bonfire of Destiny on Netflix. Neither of these shows are going to win awards, but sometimes you just want some cheesy romance escapism. BoD is the cheesier of the two.

Flipping channels, and I was wondering if Geoffrey always comes across as a bit of a dick? He seemed pretty short with Alex.
Maybe it’s only because it’s his cooking segment because he seems nicer during the other segments.

No. Laura and Ann Skelly are both from Ireland, but they do have different Irish accents.

l think the cast member is probably Katja. She shared an article about her dad being ill. He doesn’t have much time left to live.
