It truly shows their utter lack of character that Carly and Jason are both well aware that pregnant Kristina was there, but they were totally worried about Sonny and are all teary eyed over him. Zero concern for Kristina or Dex's physical or mental state. For a loving father, Sonny sure didn't utter one word of worry about Kristina's physical or mental state either. All self-pity that "my daughter's afraid of me."

That tracks, because all three of them are stink-faced garbage people. And none of this means a goddamn thing because we all know that as soon as the latest round of musical writers kicks in they'll excuse it all away on Sonny's tampered meds, or some other BS thing, and all will be forgiven and forgotten. So why are we supposed to care?

Though I give credit to KMans, she really gave it her all and actually made me feel bad for Kristina despite everything. I couldn't stand her on Days but I've been enjoying her on here, much to my great surprise.

And an exclusive peek at Joss' reaction when she finds out Kristina witnessed Sonny's violence firsthand:

and this will set off a war between the sisters. At which time TJ can say "I told you so." So I guess he wins either way.

Say it with me everyone: STFU, TJ.

  3. Oh, how awful. :( I read parts of her book but I'm not up on the ins and outs of the skating world like many of you here, so any clues pointing to him went right over my head. I've watched him over the years and never had any idea - now I feel really bad about it. I do hope Gracie is able to find some measure of peace with this decision.

  4. So I'm behind and have just started Wednesday's episode with everyone arriving for the wedding, but what the frigging hell is the dress code for this thing? Fugly? Everyone looks like they're wearing markdown picnic tablecloths from the dollar store. And is there some kind of cleavage contest among the ladies to try and out-boob one another? FFS, when Olivia is the most tastefully dressed there's a big, big problem.

Oh, and Sam can apparently teleport now? Because in one scene she's inside with Dante talking to Blaze and Kristina, and it literally cut away to Sam standing outside next to Michael as Sonny and Natalia arrived. I can't believe that made it to air without someone in the editing room catching it.

That all being said, Tracy's scenes with Ned and BL were classic soap and absolutely lovely. More of that, please.

I haven't gotten to Violet's song yet, but watching her sing = time Carly isn't onscreen so I'm all for it.

I guess I should count my blessings that Stafford isn't playing Nina anymore.

Just in general, yes. It's one positive thing GH does have going for it these days.

  5. Whitewater Romance may just be the worst Hallmark movie I've ever watched. Definitely joining my personal Hallmark Hall of Shame, if not leading it. And you know what, I almost feel kinda bad saying this because clearly from a production standpoint this movie took a lot of work to make happen what with the locations and the rafting action and all. But it was terrible in almost every way. The leads had no chemistry separately or together (sorry Cindy, I tried to give you a chance, I really did). The plot made no sense - actually, it was like anti-sense, it kind of ate back on itself and left me with fewer brain cells than I started with. They wasted a basket full of eggs in a stupid game, which I realize is totally insignificant in the grand scheme of anything but still pisses me the hell off because do you know how expensive eggs are these days?! And how much those chickens had to go through to make them? The only, and I mean only, redeeming qualities were the gorgeous scenery and William DeVry. I loved him on GH too, voiceover, and it was really great to see him again even in this crapfest (and at least the other characters didn't all spend the entire movie telling us how he was the worst thing in the history of existence, so I guess this movie has that going for it over GH, so yay?) I'd totally love to see more of him in other, better movies (I'm fine with Danica being gone personally but I know there are plenty of other actresses who'd work well with him).

A Lifelong Love is another recent entry to my Hall of Shame, though at least that one could have worked with a few edits to the script. And I'm not liking Hallmark's latest scam of "check out our new movie, it totally didn't already air last year or anything!!" And in that vein, heads up on the Big Sky Bridal Path movie they're advertising to "premiere" at the end of the month, I'm 99% certain it aired last year (and wasn't very good IMO).

    Do better, Hallmark, come on.

What are all those papers on Jason's desk for? Coffee orders?

Dossiers on his kids so he can remember their names and what they look like?

Though I’d lay odds he still thinks their names are Jack and Donny.

Sometimes just because writers can change things doesn't mean they should. Or it that it remotely makes it a good idea or good writing. There is such a thing as "tweaking" stories. I think 180º turns & completely changing characters into new people for the storyline & not any organic reasons is just lazy uninspired writing.

Between the strike writers, the former writers, and the current writers, this show has some serious whiplash going on - if it were a person, it'd need a live-in chiropractor! And I kinda hate to say it, but I liked the strike writers best. The characters felt most true to their history under that regime, and I actually enjoyed watching for the most part. Heck, some days I even looked forward to it, crazy as that sounds. It was as though those writers, whoever they were, actually liked the show! The former writers clearly hated the show, and the current writers don't appear to have ever heard of it before, let alone watched it. (And I know, I know, Mulcahey and Korte have a long history writing for GH, but that is sure as hell not the vibe I'm getting when I watch. IMHO).

As it is, I can barely stand to watch either, and have spent more time fast-forwarding than I have watching. It's really sad. 😢

Can someone please explain why Patrick and Korte thought it was a great idea to intersperse Joss and Trina talking with scenes of Dex coming out of the shower and taking off his towel? Were we supposed to swoon over the sight of him?

No way, Trina can do so much better. (Though I suppose Dex might be a step up from a cholera ghost? Maybe? Definitely not Joss, though)

  10. OK, now I had to track down their Bollywood program as well. How did I somehow forget how incredible this program is? Their speed, their precision, how effortlessly connected they are throughout... Absolutely out of this world. Studying with actual Indian dancers was such a brilliant idea, and paid off so beautifully (and every attempt at Indian-inspired choreography since has been sadly lacking IMO).

And I have to wonder... has ice dance slid downhill that much in the last decade plus, or were these two simply that outstanding that no one has been able to quite match them since? (Not that there haven't been fantastic teams since, of course, but still).

But I wonder why they added that limitation that Aang can only contact other Avatars at their shrine?

I think this was touched on in an interview somewhere but I can't find which one... But I believe this limitation was added to define the extent of Aang's Avatar powers, so he wouldn't just be able to ask one of the other Avatars to get them out of whatever problem was at hand. Apologies if I'm misremembering but that was what I understood. (Avatar State, yip yip!)

Kyoshi definitely is even more of a hardass in this version than the original, which is saying something.

  13. I can't think Paul and Kimberley would agree to do this sequel if they couldn't make the script work - maybe I'm being naive about that but I'm going to stay optimistic and hold out hope it's another winner like the first. (And I say this as someone who firmly believes that Christmas belongs in December and no other part of the year, lol).

I just love that this is the second time Isaac sneezing didn't end well for someone. First Nigel, now Patience...apparently it's a bad idea to be around Isaac when he's sneezing :p.

I’ve been thinking this too... Isaac’s allergies are dangerous for those around him! 😆

Also, had she been convicted, would that really mean that her school age son would be left penniless?

"Penniless" can mean very different things to different people. For Hetty's social set, I assume it's more along the lines of not be able to live in the manner to which they are accustomed. And possibly having the family name tarnished by losing their fortune would be as devastating a blow. Just my spec.

And because it can't be said enough, this was by far the best episode of the season and probably one of the best of the entire series. Just brilliantly done.

  17. I agree Rose's pregnancy hasn't had a big impact on what we've seen on the screen. I was just thinking that it had to be at least a consideration in the writers' room, that maybe she would be limited physically on what she could/would do, and they'd have to write accordingly. And I'm not saying this was the case for Rose but I have read of some actresses needing reduced shooting time during pregnancies, which would obviously affect the scripts. Though I bet we can all agree the wardrobe budget must have been increased this season to account for extra coats and sweatshirts. :D

As for Sheila, obviously any storylines for Flower had to be shelved this season, though I'm looking forward to more Flower next year. And she is one of my favorites - I find that she and Pete bring a lot of heart to the show that the other ghosts, while hilarious, don't necessarily replicate, and I do feel her absence in that respect. JMO, of course. :)

  18. I haven't watched all of today's airing but it's listed in my DVR as the Gala, and in the first hour I saw no signs of the Gala. Way to go, NBC. (Any signs of Adam's LP? Yes, I am stupidly optimistic)

I hit the mute for Jason's LP

I love Jason Brown more than any other skater I've ever watched, but I too have had to mute his LP music all season. Groban's a big no for me, and I just can't hear Impossible Dream without thinking of the movie American Dreamz.

Maybe I'm just cranky. I don't know. I guess we'll know soon enough if things get better.

For me the disappointment comes from the fact that I know this show can do better, because they frequently have in the past. Somehow it's harder to take when something great lets you down rather than when something generally mediocre continues to be, well, mediocre. My 2¢, FWIW.

That said, I do think the limited/rushed preproduction time due to the strike, along with the complications of Sheila and Rose's pregnancies, are a big part of why this season has been IMO largely subpar. So, I'm still hoping season 4 can get back on track.

  20. Not quite sure what to think of all this - I don't want to immediately jump on the doom and gloom bandwagon, but all these bts changes don't give me a great feeling, so... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Found an article with some additional not-promising tidbits but I have no idea if this site is remotely reliable or if this is all pure spec pulled out of thin air, so take with a barrel of salt: https://knightedgemedia.com/2024/04/christine-boylan-jabbar-raisani-showrunner-netflix-avatar-the-last-airbender-season-2-exclusive/

There’s a possibility that production will also move out of Vancouver, though not confirmed. We have also been notified that Netflix may give each subsequent season a lower episode count to increase the number of views each season receives. However, this is also not set in stone just yet.

Carol's adjustment period seems to be focused only on being dead, being a ghost, and dwelling in the B&B now.  I don't think I've heard her say anything about her life - Jerry, Laura, little Pete, missing donut holes, nothing.

Thank you, this has been bothering me too. And it's not just Carol, I don't even recall Pete saying anything about what Laura must be going through, how sad little Pete will grow up without grandparents, etc etc. The show is taking a very shallow approach to Carol's death, one that's purely for the gags, and it's rather disappointing. I much prefer the early seasons Carol who, while far from perfect, at least came across as a loving mother and a more or less decent person.

Other than that, this was one of the better eps of the season. "What about unicorns?" "Oh, they're totally real."

  22. I didn't even bother with Easter Bloom since it looked to be on the religious side from the ads, and that's an automatic no for me (along with Amish movies and most royal movies).

Recently caught a rerun of Sand, Sun and Romance (I think that's the title?) with Paul Campbell and Tricia Helfer - that's always a fun movie! Paul's pretty impossible not to like, and it's kinda fun to see Tricia in a rom com considering I usually see her in scifi-fantasy shows as a villain, lol. Also, Cancun is gorgeous.

  23. I actually enjoyed Shifting Gears. Cars aren't my thing at all but the story held my interest, and I found the characters likable. Her final paint job was pretty cool looking, too. I think part of the reason Tyler seemed so slight and short was because he's so frequently paired with Lacey, who's barely over five feet tall IIRC and would make anyone look like a giant in comparison, lol.

Found a great interview with Tyler - apparently Hallmark has launched a mentorship program for women directors (founded by Ashley Williams! I almost feel bad making fun of her for so many years now) and this was their first effort. And the director was none other than Crystal Lowe, aka the nerdy girl from Signed, Sealed and Delivered. Hollywood is such a boys club I really give Hallmark credit for giving more opportunities for women behind the camera as well as in front of it.
