I liked the little look Trevor gave Hetty after she enquired about researching stable boys. And yes, that, apparently, is indeed in there.

I loved that he sat down to watch the stable boys with her! Trevor is EOH: Equal Opportunity Horny.

Do ghosts show up in digital pictures? I know they didn't show up back in the days when we used actual film photography.

    Maybe on TV they can!

I think that would be more sad than funny. Sort of a "Flowers for Algernon" situation.

Maybe we can get a ghost photography episode, where at least Jay can see their pictures.

It would be quite the twist if he somehow snaps and kills Kevin.

Well… he and Allison have now defended Patty to Kevin the exact same way at the exact same time. He is not totally unaligned to her.

Pam didn't find a new partner, she was waiting for POTUS, her one true love?

I did think she was too conveniently available, but she had another partner in season two, didn’t she?

I am fairly confident Ellen dared Congress to impeach her and hasn’t resigned as president. I’m not sure I’d want to be Presidential Girlfriend, either. But it’s a wonderful scene to see them finally meet openly and honestly and free of a sense of shame (on Ellen’s part).

  6. I rewatched the end, to see Ellen’s speech and the North Korean again.

Margot gets very thoughtful during her speech. I think she is inspired by Ellen’s bravery, and her unwillingness to let fear of secrets affect future actions.

This was an episode about letting/not letting other people take the fall for you.
SPECULATION: I am certain the Russian delegation is confident they control Margot. If Margot spills the beans, comes forward, they lose that control. I don’t believe Margot will let Aleida take the fall for anything Margot has done. The show has always pointed out how smart Margot is. I think she’ll find some version of win-win.

I think Danny will clear Nick’s name somehow, too.

  7. Loved the episode! Yay, Ellen! I was so proud of her refusal to sign a bill she didn’t like and her refusing to be blackmailed by secrets.

I found Dev’s speech about what would have happened if the British colonists gave up early and went home a little tone deaf/oblivious. Not surprised that Dev would be tone deaf but not sure if the show writers thought they were inspiring the audience, too.

European and British colonists giving up early and going home was not a terrible possible outcome, historically speaking. The whole speech bugged me.

Though it ended horribly, I was glad that Ava got her some with the hot subletter, especially after having been unceremoniously torn away from the hot cruise couple a few episodes ago.

The lawsuit plotline is so weird. It's an ongoing thread but it seems to be ignored in most of Ava and Deb's scenes together. Maybe I also just don't understand the casual thing about "rich people suing each other all the time," but I just can't imagine that Ava and Deborah continue to cultivate a decent working relationship/friendship with that hanging over their head.

Well, to Deb it’s just business and Ava probably works very hard to suppress it/is in denial.

The group that Jimmy is hanging with - they think space travel is a hoax?  The girl said something about the statue being for something that didn’t happen.

They think that the stated reason for the Jamestown catastrophe was a hoax. That the Tracy/Gordon Heroic Act is a cover story for something. I sort of lost the thread on the specifics.

  10. There’s a Ghosts exhibit outside the San Diego Comic-Con! It’s “Pete’s Friend Zone,” and it is set up like a summer camp with little games (like archery) and has a tent you can lounge in. I walked by on my way to the trolley from work but didn’t go inside.

Five's speech to Viktor, at least the middle/end of it, seemed like it really should have been given to Allison instead...

Yes. And it totally supported Allison’s point that no one ever paid attention to her feelings or her pain. Even then Five was still laser focused on Viktor and missed every single Allison Is Acting Out signal.

I wonder if Christopher was suffering from the doppelgänger effect, like Five was in the Commission bunker.  Was Christopher another version of the Kugelblitz?

Someone in my watch group thought maybe the resonance from Fei clinking her champagne flute on Christopher disrupted his ability to hold it together.

Side Note: Just because your robot mother is broken/powered off doesn’t mean she is dead forever.

I've watched several NASA/JPL livestreams of Mars rover landings, and "Seven Minutes of Terror" is nerve racking even for a casual observer.

Speaking of which… I remember watching Pathfinder land on giant screens at the county fair. I wondered if those scenes with the white tents was real footage from such an event.

I do wonder how the writers can put Deborah and Ava in a situation where they are forced to cooperate for the sake of  their individual careers

I’d be happy watching them as friends/mentors even if they never explicitly collaborate. Deb knows The Business but Ava knows The Town (Hollywood).

It was unstated on the show, but I was under the impression - and am possibly wrong - that Brenner revealed the position to the military looking for El because Owens was going to take El away to Hawkins.

I had made that exact same assumption.

  16. The fact that Lumon was founded in 1866 and the smile wall pictures in the Perpetuity Gallery seemed to be all(?)mostly(?) African-American faces gave me some real Get Out vibes.

Do we think Mr. Milchik’s smile is in that gallery?

Also, has anyone read a good analysis of the use of color throughout the season?

I wouldn’t dare presume to call this a good analysis but:

Everything Lumon is blue or green. However…

Helly’s hair, Gemma’s last dress, the fire extinguisher, the book cover, and half of The Wellness Candle are red. Mark’s pajamas in the opening credits are red. Petey’S robe is red/blue stripes. Dylan used a red strap to tie the door shut. These are all symbols of “outside.” Outside the box thinking, life outside, breaking out.

The candle is red and green. Poor Gemma is only half something outside. It is an interesting theory above that she might not have an Outie. Petey never really broke away from Lumon either.

Margo kind of reminds me of Martha from The Americans.

I had the exact same thought.

Also… what was with all The Martian references? Just some tribute to a writer’s favorite movie or something? “Work the problem,” “It’s not the worst idea,” one of the six seats was for a botanist (“anybody can grow plants on Mars”)…
