But you don't go to the top of the line.  And Houston bore the brunt of the refugees from NOLA.

WIC is far more important to this family.  A benefit I doubt they take full or any advantage of because ................. just because.  Look at the WIC limitations in food options.  Nobody in that family cares a rat's ass about those two little ones who  are already way too heavy.  Yet I continue to read posts about how mommy needs to care for herself or find herself or whatever.  Must be some of her juggalo buddies posting here.

You can get WIC and Food Assistance (SNAP/Food Stamps) both.  WIC restricts what you can purchase, but Food Assistance doesn't.  Or, doesn't to the extent WIC does.  You can get chips, candy, cookies, etc., on Food Assistance.  The gross income standard for Food Assistance is 130% of the FPL.  For Nicole, Charlie, and the two kids, the gross monthly income standard would be $2633.  He could work 40 hours a week at $15 per hour and be under that (40 hours per week x $15 PH = $600 x 4.3 = $2580).  $15 an hour is an above average wage for that area, so it's like he's earning less than that.

Ain't a show with no juggalos

thanks pers, sounds like it got good as it went downhill. Still waiting for it here.

still don't know what a juggalo is.

I believe Juggalo and Juggalette is what the fans of Insane Clown Posse call themselves.  I don't know a lot about them, other than they like to drink Faygo.

We have a saying from one of our church Presidents, "Get on your knees and pray. And then get on your feet and work."  It's one of my favorites.

    Oh, I'm so stealing that.

I think it was Grippos - local brand of chips. She had them in her cart I believe...(I've since moved from the area and have an eagle eye for them)

Grippos are amazing.  But, they sell the seasoning now in a jar, she could have used that instead of the chips themselves.

I had hearings in Marion, Ohio, yesterday.

I think she should have left her parents and kids here in Ohio and headed to Texas with the BF alone.

  5. I'm re-watching Erica.  Her sister and her BIL as just awful.  I get that they are probably tired of dealing with her, and they need to draw boundaries, but you can do that without being so nasty, I think.

  6. They aired this episode again today.  I have to say, I'm fat (I can take care of my own needs, and I don't require the fire department to leave the house, but I'm legitimately fat), and I am not nearly as lazy or whiny as most of the people on this show.  It's a mind-boggling amount of laziness.  And Lupe gained over 80 lbs in one month!  That's verging on impressive, IMO.

  7. Ok.  Random thoughts:

    1. I cried throughout the episode.  I miss Michael.  The scene with Jane comforting Petra when Raph went to prison was so touching.  I love that they supported each other.  And Raph supporting Jane when she read her book about Michael.  Abuela tucking Jane into bed.  I'll admit to being an emotional sap, though.

    2. I kind of love that "cold, unfeeling" Petra is turning out to have better behaved kids than Mateo.  Not just better disciplined, but their teacher also called them sweet and kind.  Petra is a good mom and I love it.

    3. That said, I don't love kids in tv shows.  I have a 6-year-old; all her shows have kids.  I get my fill of kids on tv thank you very much.  Hopefully in the future they will be off screen until sometime next year when they're young adults, as is typical in soap operas.

    4. I'm still hoping that Xo and Ro are end game.

    5. Minka Kelly.  I'm not a fan.  Although, the narrator seemed to imply she wasn't going to be around long (saying something about how he had forgotten about her).  Hopefully that's the case.

Oh god. Oh no. Minka Kelly has arrived. Won't someone take pity on me and stop trying to make her happen???

I really, really don't like her.  I once had a dream she and I were plural married to Nathan Fillion.  I was totally his favorite wife.  There's some valuable insight into my psyche right there.  :)

  8. I would have been happy with either win.  I felt bad that Ahhhnold kept saying that no one knew who Matt was throughout the show - am I the only one who watched Clean House?  I met Matt when they came here to Cincinnati for a special episode.

I wasn't super familiar with Boy George before this; I was aware of him, of course, but I think the height of his popularity was just a bit before my time.  I was very impressed with him, he's a bit of a diva but that's to be expected of a celebrity, he was mostly sweet and very kind.

I liked having a finale where I felt that I could root for both contestants.

  9. I kind of like Devin and Ursula.  He seems kind of dumb, which would drive me crazy, but each to their own.  I wonder if consummate was his word of the day?

Billy and Bethany I think might work out.  They both seem to want it to work, which is half the battle, IMO.

Tahnee and Matt, I don't know, neither of them seemed thrilled with the pairing.  There was something about Matt I didn't like.  He sort of looked like a Ken doll, like his head was molded.

  10. My grandmother's husband had an aortic dissection.  He survived, but the surgery he had to repair it eventually led to his death years later.

I kept seeing "Jane the Virgin" in the trending column on FB this morning, so I thought I better watch before I get spoiled.  They have been foreshadowing something bad, but I wasn't expecting this exactly.  My heart is broken.  I was totally with Rogelio on #TeamMichael.  I'm so sad about it.  I can't see Jane and Raph together at this point.  I still have hope for him and Petra.

  11. Just watched this one for the first time.  SO much whining.  And thinking she knows better than the doctor.  News Flash: if you knew better you wouldn't be 700 lbs.  Also, I don't think bingo counts as "getting out and doing more."

  12. The wigs are weird.  I get a pretty strong gay vibe from Chad.

They bought her one set of lingerie for their anniversary?  Who gets to see her in it first?  Or do they all "celebrate" together?

She said she wished there was a manual on how to deal with your two husbands.  I'm pretty sure it would say, "Don't have two husbands."

I'm very familiar with Wichita Falls(many consider it the armpit of Texas-it's not a very attractive area but the people are nice).

I learned about it on an episode of King of the Hill.  :)

Ashley looked a lot like one of the nurses in Dr. Now's office, the one at the end when he approved the surgery.  Just chubbier.

Does Dr. Now keep apartments in Houston for the people to use?  I'm new to the show, so I don't know if they've ever mentioned it.  I've seen episodes where he's told the client they need to move closer, I was wondering if there were places he had for them to stay while they were there.

  14. I couldn't believe his mom said, "you're going to blame me," or something to that affect when they were having coffee together.  Who else is to blame for her abandoning her children?!  It sounds like she had other stuff going on, but her is her child and was an actual child when this happened - I think it's a bit much for her to expect him to understand what her issues were.

Law school sounds like a horrible fit for Michael. He hated desk work, he doesn't test well, and he wants excitement. What the hell is he thinking?

Agreed.  I would have thought maybe doing something like being a private detective would be more up his alley.

I don't know what it is about Brooke that makes me not like her. I've felt this way about her since she was the co-host of DWTS. She seems nice, but just something about her bugs me. Kudos to her winning the task though because fitness is her strength and she did a great job demonstrating the product, but I think Laila was the one that ultimately helped spike the sales.

You know what?  She's just the worst.  I can't stand her, either, and I've never been able to.  What is she even famous for?  I do feel bad that her husband is a dick, though.

Tatia looks and behaves a lot like the girl from 90 day fiance.

I thought it was her at first, because they kept showing her in profile!  I only realized I looked closely at her face.  Same fake boobs, same weird lips, they look a lot alike.  I wonder if there is a plastic surgeon in Russia in the business of giving women this "look?"

Did Nico have to help bathe her and have to "wipe her butt" when he was alone taking care of her? If he did that is child abuse, no wonder he acted out.

Oh, geez, I hadn't even considered that.
