While this episode was better than last week's, I don't think it was that good compared to the last two seasons.  Overall, something seems off this year.

This show and Ghosts both having down seasons after the strikes should point to the strikes being the cause but we won’t know untill the new season for both.

Not ideal, I will admit. But consider that this was filmed during the epidemic and they had to finesse transportation by hiring an aeroplane (which they have not shown so far, but we are aware is happening "behind the scenes") and may have had difficulty finding countries where they were welcome.

Also, they would have to be comfortable that if, despite precautions, a racer became ill, the country they happened to be in would be in a position to provide medical aid to a standard that TPTB found acceptable. The country where I live (like many, I think) decided that there were not enough ventilators. A number of ventilators were ordered, paid for and sent. Unfortunately, when they reached Miami and before they could be put on a ship, they were stolen confiscated by the authorities for use by those who deserved a better chance of survival that the third world peasants who actually owned the ventilators.

We already know what the next season will be (because we saw it already as S35) and that the next season will be one of the best for a long, long while (my opinion, at least). So, I can forgive much of what I am seeing that I don't like, because I realize that it's an aberration forced upon TPTB by unavoidable external factors.

However poorly the season turns out, I'm glad they tried and didn't simply elect to skip a year.

I think it's also telling the producers delayed this season as long as possible and placed it in the lower watched spring.

🧐 I don’t think you understand what “cheating” actually means. If something is allowed, it is by definition not cheating.

Not really. Boring tasks, every episode in a location that seems the same, bunching start-times. One of the worst seasons overall so far. (Nothing will touch the awfulness of the Family season)

And sounds like there is an alliance and I HATED the other recent season that had an alliance.

Highlighted some of your awesome post @Night Cheese. You sound like an experienced educator. Agree with so much.

The media center needs of K students compared to 7th graders is huge. Why are there 7th graders at an elementary school?

Barbara was very wrong as was Janine in pushing through a new initiative without teacher support, knowledge and input.

And 7th graders are going to be on iPads or chromebooks. Reference books are out of date pretty much as soon as published in certain subjects.

And SlaughterHouse 5 wouldn't be in an elementary school library.

Not sure why in Philly, but in rural areas there are sometimes K-8 schools. I myself attended one and then we merged with the neighboring town (which had an elementary and middle school) at high school.

  5. I'm in my early 30s and after my freshman year me and a couple people just started eating in the classroom of the class we were going to have after lunch (she was a cool teacher). I don't remember what I did my senior year though. So it's not unheard of, but it also was just a few of us.

Overall, I really loved this finale.  As everyone has said, it's great to have 3 teams to root for, or at least no one to root against.  I did find myself pulling for Joel and Garrett at the end, but I certainly wasn't throwing things at the tv when Greg & John won.

I thought the final memory challenge was a bit easy, a bit too straight forward.  Yes, there was the physical aspect of having to move all the kayaks.  But the "memory challenge" part was about as easy as it could get - remember your challenges.  (OK, not as easy as "let's count poker chips", my all time disappointing moment for a finale.)  At first, I didn't realize each country/leg had it's own stand, so I was wondering if they made a mistake they'd have to shift a dozen or more kayaks down the line.  But with each stand they would only have to shift a few.

Does anyone know if 2nd and 3rd place still get some $ prize?  I thought they used to, but really have no idea.  I am also hoping Garrett gets enough to get his daughter a service dog.  I know they cost at least $20,000.  I have a feeling that even if they don't have prize money, somehow the money is going to show up for that.

A few people keep mentioning that Greg and John "have money".  Where is this coming from?  Are they uber wealthy?  Just solid upper middle class?  Obviously they've had a lot of different opportunities in life, so are people just assuming, or is there something in their bio?  I don't think it matters.  They ran an excellent race, and deserved every bit of that win.

I hope the "real" Season 35 (now Season 36) isn't a let down after this.  I hope they're going back through, giving everyone really nice edits, just so we can enjoy another season as much as we did this one.  😉

It will be a slight letdown because there won't be any airport drama.

To be honest, when Marty & Stu came from behind to win, I was actually disappointed. ("I lived in Seattle for a month! I majored in Trapeze . I was a glass blower for one whole summer. I help my girlfriend with her grunge band!") I am the first to say that the brothers were excellent racers and good people. By any metric they deserved the win. But I would have been most happy with them coming third.

Team Hirsute did well and for a moment I thought they had the race! But the confusion between "Bird's-eye view" and "Above it all" did them in. You'd think that would be the first thing to try after the first fail, but it's easy to say that when you're not actually standing there.

Rob & Corey would have been a very satisfying win, and with Corey aceing the trapeze and Rob getting it without having to try too many times, I thought they had it in the bag. But somehow navigation issues crept in on the way to the last challenge and they fell at the final hurdle. So sorry, genuinely.

It must have taken TPTB quite some time to round up three such awful bands. Awful, not awesome

Not even as an homage to Jessica Alba's Dark Angel?

    What?

A comment on the race itself: Phil opened the episode saying "This season, The Amazing Race returned to it's roots." And I think that anyone who is a fan of the race will have to agree that this season was objectively better than what we have become accustomed to in recent years. I hope TPTB take the evidence of their own eyes into account. Classic TAR didn't become classic because it was what they did first. But because what they did was great! A return to those roots produced another latter-day "classic" episode.

    Take the hint, people!

This season was filmed after the season that's airing this spring. So this was 35th aired, but 36th filmed. Next season will feature the airbus, but after that that will finally be retired.

I don't find their knowledge of everything arrogant, but I do find the comment of "oh one win, that's so cute" kind of rude. Some great teams have been taken down by taxis and other things in the last leg, so he might want to brush up on his history of TAR and realize it's anyone's game in the finale.

They touched on that in their recap.

For all of their navigation problems, and Steve lagging behind, the thing that actually cost Steve & AL a place in the final 3 was their failure to keep track of the roadblocks.  If they entered this leg with equal roadblocks, AL could have done the Riverdance roadblock, and they likely would have been out of there with a good lead on Joel & Garrett.

I could be wrong.  Won't know until someone comments about the actual time gaps between the teams.  But I think in the end, that was the biggest factor to them being eliminated this leg.

Can't say I'm sad about it.  I love this final 3!  I'm rooting for everyone!

Is she a dancer or are we just speculating she would've been gone? I honestly don't remember what any of them do for a living.
