Haven’t checked the rankings in a few days.  Joseph has regained the number 1 spot, with Monte and Michael switching off for 3/4.  Brittany has dropped far, but she is still more popular that Terrance.

Could somebody be so kind as to give me the Cliffs Notes version on why Joseph is so popular?

  2. It's also great to see that after being screwed over by the Russian Skating Federation so many times, Anastasiia Gubanova was able to obtain Georgian citizenship and start skating under that flag. Unfortunately, she continues to get low-balled and not get the marks she deserves. Her PCS at Finlandia were downright CRIMINAL. The Dutch judge rightfully had her third. I don't know what the other judges were watching. She has better presentation and interpretation than any other skater in the world today, in my opinion. Injustices like this are so incredibly depressing.

  3. The only record Aliona has left in the senior division is for the SP TSS. And I have no doubt Valieva will topple that soon, unfortunately. I'm a bit miffed that Valieva's PCS from the short at last weekend's Skate Canada was higher than the PCS Kostornaia got for that world-record short from the 2019 Grand Prix Final. (Re-looking at the protocols, at that very event Zagitova had higher PCS than Aliona!) Hard disagree from me. On both! Sweet Jesus on a cross.

Ravel's Daphis et Chloe might have been good for Kamila. It's been used before but it isn't in warhorse territory.

Another piece of music that I think could have been interesting is Wagner's Entry of the Gods into Valhalla. The way that it builds is perfect for an Olympic performance. I think it would have worked well for Anna or Kamila.

Those are good choices! I think there are probably dozens of pieces that would be a better fit for her than the repetitious and droning Bolero. I like Bolero itself, but there are few skaters who can effectively do it justice.

  5. skatingscores.com is the most amazing resource! You can re-score any program and it is SO MUCH FUN! Personally, I think Valieva is a very good skater, but she is definitely being overscored on PCS. I had her PCS for the LP a full 5 points lower than the judges did. OTOH, my marks for the LP TSS of Kostornaia (who is my favorite current skater) was only about a tenth less than what the judges actually gave her! Amazing! LOL

I also absolutely agree that the PCS are not scored accordingly and with enough differentiation. I make sure to do that when I score programs. I feel Valieva's Bolero deserves higher marks for Transitions and Composition than for Performance or Interpretation. But she is scoring in the 9s across the board and I just do not agree with that. At least not for her Bolero.

I have no idea why they kept that LP from last year for her. Maybe because it worked for Alina Zagitova and they're superstitious? (Zagitova kept her junior LP for her senior debut season and won the OGM.) To me, it takes a specific kind of skater to pull off Bolero, and Valieva is not it. Something lighter and lyrical would be much more complimentary to her strengths.

I also really dislike Aliona's music this season. I must have re-watched her short program she had for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons 5 or 6 times yesterday--the Max Richter. That music was just MAGIC. I do not like the Billie Eilish Forever selections. And the short program music is downright ghastly for her IMO. I think she has some of the best skating skills in the sport, and she deserves better programs to showcase them.

I have no idea who these people are. I never remember faces or names. I remember when I first met my cousin's boyfriend, we spent an hour talking and then I saw him passing on the street, he waved at me, I had no idea who he was and he said to my cousin that I'm weird :P

Really? That seems like a terrifying condition to never be able to remember anybody. Have you ever gone to a doctor about it?

I also think that (weirdly) H/D's free dance would look better on C/B, and C/B's free dance would look better on H/D.

Don't forget a lot of the pressure athletes are under is also self-imposed. Figure skaters tend to attract harsh perfectionists. Nathan seems like that prototype -- someone who is always seeking perfection in everything he does.

I hope you were quoting me in agreement because I hope that's what my post implied 😄. ITA 100%.

Not really.  The Olympics are not what they used to be.  If it wasn't for Simone's issues, the Summer Olympics would have passed with barely a blip.  I don't know anyone who actually watched them outside of fans dedicated to specific sports.  They are no longer Must-See TV.

As for the Winter Olympics, few people even know they will be on this February. And men's figure skating was NEVER as popular as women's skating. The best he can hope for after winning is Dancing with the Stars and a tour in Japan.

Hopefully, he can get his head together.  If not, there are plenty of others waiting in the wings. In any case, he has a full life ahead of him.

Despite the significance to the public at large, the Olympics are still the pinnacle for figure skaters and has more importance to them than any other competition. Just because they may "not be what they used to be", or "no longer Must-See TV" and his discipline has "NEVER as popular as women's skating" has nothing to do with how much it means to the athletes. Their nerves will react accordingly, as we saw with him in Pyeongyang. I imagine he is under amount an immense amount of pressure--not just regarding the vultures in the media, but from his own incredibly high standards and expectations. He has accomplished everything else in his sport--the Olympic Gold medal is all he has missing. And despite most fans not thinking any less of skaters who don't win the Olympics, it is still something that matters very much to the skaters themselves.

Daria was terrific and usually the Russian ladies bore me. She reminds me of Caryn Kadavy for some reason.

    She definitely resembles Caryn physically!

Wow. That is most definitely an interview of some sort.

"Xavier won by knowing when to lose and winning when he had to, and was liked and admired by all in the house. How many times have we ever seen that? In addition to winning all nine votes, not a single negative comment was made from any juror when it came time to insert the keys! If that's not proof of God and miracles, then what is?!"

Yes, when I think of holy miracles, I think of a lack of petty comments from a jury on a fairly trashy reality show. I'd assume she was joking, but based on the rest of the interview, maybe not. Lol.

    Also this:

"My takeaway is that Azah has a healthy fear of the Lord — and that's the first step towards true wisdom. She spoke about how she did what she could to glorify Him in her actions and speech while playing this game where lying and deception are both allowed. "

I think I'll just leave the irony in that one alone. And she wants Frenchie back? I guess he was the one spot of crazy in an otherwise drama-free season, and even a holy reality TV show host knows that one's reality show cast must bring the crazy.

Oh my God, Julie is batshit crazy. Like one of the hosts was saying on one of the post-episodes on RHAP, this would never fly if Julie was a believer of any other religion.

  11. I'm a man of my word and tuned in! (I hadn't watched an episode since like the second or third week.) Kyland getting the boot was even sweeter than I anticipated! But that was scary. He is so delusional that I almost didn't think he would accept defeat and voluntarily leave.

I feel so bad for Tiffany bc not all of the CO was on equal terms. She had to sacrifice her game in a way X and Ky never did, and that's not right. I don't care what anyone says.

  12. I've barely watched this season, and even I'm sad about Derex going. I'm even sadder about him and Claire having a pretty good idea about the CO, yet not saying anything. (Or have they?) Maybe SB would have done something differently if she had that information. Derex has seemed to almost work against his best interests time and time again, so that sucks.. Hopefully he'll get invited back.

Thankfully Big D has no shot at winning HOH next week

    I sadly to evict Britini.
    I sadly to evote Brent.

I sadly wonder why Derek F. is unable to correctly construct such simple sentences.

So, that was apparently a very quick veto and Christian won. So, not only is Whitney gone, but Christian just made himself target #1 for next week by solidifying him as a competitive threat.

Both of these things sound glorious, ngl.

Whitney is fine going home to her kids.  Said to Hannah, when Hannah said they might be trying for a Derex backdoor.  Whitney? I am also fine with you going home to your kids.  I hope that happens this week.

How many kids does she have? Wow, I don't really know her that well but she really doesn't seem like a mother to me LOL

  15. Does anybody know what race Hannah is? From her conversation with X I saw on one of the episodes, I'm guessing she's black? But why wasn't she in the CO from the beginning? (I got a late start to the season.. and it's actually good for once. FML)

  16. I really don't think it's a coincidence that casting the most diverse group of players has resulted in one of the most enjoyable seasons in an extremely long time. It's beyond pitiful that it took so much pain, suffering, and time for TPTB to finally listen and do something about it, but I am so happy that they did!

They have some nerve talking about representation after bringing Loni Love's racist ass on every other week. It feels awful as a mixed race person to see her, and worse to see nobody else has a problem with it. Fuck them.

They decided Kandy was a good narrator weeks ago, I think that's really why she's stayed. They tried to make me think Olivia was a secret diva, failed at that, but she didn't play the name game. Hence, she's gone. It's better that way, I think this season won't be remembered fondly, though maybe she will (editing be damned).

Oh well. Hopefully all stars starts in three weeks and this will be buried. Plus Spain and Australia!

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but what did Loni Love do that was racist?

I may be alone on the Gottmik train, but I hope she can pull out the win. I started out loving Symone, and maybe I'm just fatigued at this point but I find myself being more intrigued by Mik now. Their track records are pretty much even if you consider Symone has been in the bottom twice now compared to Mik never having to lip sync. It could wind up being a photo finish...

Is it just me, or does A’Whora look a lot like Adore Delano?

She does, but apparently she's not happy about it LOL. She said something on Twitter, and then Adore basically said, "There are far worse people you could look like." Haha. Apologies if someone else has already relayed this.

I've been finding myself singing, "Release the beast, Bimini" apropos of nothing on a regular basis for days now. Sigh. I really don't like that both seasons all the queens on the winning girl groups have gotten RuPeter badges. In my head, Bimini deserved a sole win for that challenge. Thank God she finally won this week. There had been far too many weeks of her being passed over, and I had quite enough really. I hope this gives her some momentum and she can make a run at the crown.

It's so odd. I didn't think much of Bimini on Meet the Queens at all. But once the series proper started, almost instantly I loved her! That usually is not how it works LOL. On the other hand, I loved Awhora on MTQ but then wasn't feeling her at the beginning of the series. Although I have been liking her more of late.

I've been absolutely loving this season, although Snatch Game was easily the weakest episode. I was surprised that most of them seemed to struggle, although Bimini truly handled that character (being American I've no clue who she is) like a champ! The season 1 SG was much better, obviously. A thing I've noticed with DragRace of late is it's wayyyy too overly produced and like it's being made for stupid people. The abundance of music with varying tones to let you know how you're supposed to think about what is being shown. The never-ending reaction shots of Ru and the judges to know how you're supposed to think a queen is performing. It's really so annoying LOL, and also tends to give away who is going to win or wind up in the bottom. I noticed it with Lawrence's Snatch Game character.. They wanted us to think he was doing HORRIBLY, but in reality I thought it wasn't that bad. I thought Ellie was quite good (Little Britain/Vicky Pollard was one of the few references I actually knew), and didn't get enough credit.

Poor Tia just didn't have a chance and she had to have known it. Her zero accolades up against LAWRENCE CHENEY and his three RuPeter badges. But like the professional that she is, she stood up there and did the damn song (like you're supposed to). There are no words for how much Ginny's little stunt bothered me. Tia left with so much dignity and respect. And she is truly hilarious; I imagine she'll be pretty successful if things ever open up again. I know so many fans who just love her to death (and maybe even more than is merited to be honest lol).. but it kind of really was her time. Although leaving before Sister? I don't think. Maybe that psychic is an actual person in the UK, but it just seemed like a tired variation of what we've already seen on prior seasons MULTIPLE times before. I was not impressed.

It will be exciting to see how it all finishes. I can't imagine Lawrence not making it to the end, but I'm not quite sure the front-runner thing will wind up playing to his advantage (see Gigi Goode). I think he most likely will make a lovely first runner-up. I low-key expect Tayce to turn into something amazing every week, and it's yet to happen. Maybe it just never will...
