  1. Can we just have an entire episode of Avery and people reacting to her? She was the best part about this episode!

    "Where'd she go?"

(Kiki and Dillon sharing the turkey burger and him sharing the pizza story was cute too, but not as cute as Avery).

How very scary for her to have to think that way for over a decade.  You're well read on the subject....how much was Marcus the OJ, Jr?  Was he also mean spirited?

Marcus, I am not sure about. He was (like so many athletes out there) a womanizer, but I don't recall him ever being accused of being mean.

The hypocrisy on the part of OJ is interesting.  OJ takes Marguerite, who was with his good friend Al Cowlings, and there were no consequences. Flash forward to 1994. His good friend Marcus Allen dates his estranged wife Nicole and OJ becomes unhinged about it. He threatens Nicole. And threatens to tell Marcus' fiancee Kathryn.

If OJ was incandescent with rage at Nicole over some perceived or actual affair it tells me that he is that guy that feels as though he should be able to cheat on a woman, but she dare not cheat on him.  Even when separated.

I just think that the person you pick to spend your life with may say something about you....good, bad or otherwise.  So understanding a person's spouse may provide clues to understanding them.

If Nicole used drugs and partied.....so what.  If anything I think it makes her a more three dimensional person, and she is part of OJ's story.  If Nicole used drugs and partied, it just adds to the idea that OJ was so intent on protecting his image that he never tried to seriously get her help, but instead heaped abuse on her.

And just on a curious note, what in the world did OJ do to get her to call people and tell them that it was a false report of abuse?  Why did she keep those pictures?  On the one hand she was protecting him, but on the other hand she kept evidence of his abuse.  I just wonder why.

I've read a lot of books about the case and their life together. Nicole used to tell her friends that OJ was going to kill her and get away with it. That he would "OJ" his way out of it. Perhaps she thought that documenting all of the abuse with photos and her journal would help tell the story of the "real" OJ after she was gone - and put a little tarnish on the picture of himself that he painted for the world.

The fact that Kolkom wouldn't say anything about Nicole and Marcus spoke volumes without him saying a word.

It was apparently well-known in her circle of friends that she was seeing him and the word was that Marcus was actually at her house at some point in the 24 hours before the murders (when she had told OJ she wouldn't see him anymore).  It wouldn't surprise me at ALL if OJ knew they'd seen each other - and that and Nicole snubbing him at his daughter's dance recital that day (among other things I'm sure) built a serious amount of rage in OJ. I mean, this is a guy that a YEAR later (on the '93 911 call) was still ranting about Nicole and Keith. He doesn't let things go.

My favorite bit was near then end of the episode when Rachel catches Joey with the naked picture of Monica and Ross at some point shakes his bottle of tranquilzers and says, "this isn't good for my rage."

I use this quote ALL the time.

My favorite, along with so many of you guys is "The One Where Everybody Finds Out." It's just awesome from the beginning where they're talking about Ugly Naked Guy's boxes ironically marked "clothes" to Chandler's bulging bicep to Joey not losing any of Phoebe's buttons because "It's not my first time" to Phoebe's "I'm very bendy" to Ross at the end screaming at the window "GET OFF MY SISTER!!!!"

(Don't know why I never looked at the Friends boards before this... great stuff)

  5. I gave up on Idol a few years ago. Only came back last night for David Cook's performance and Stevie Van Zandt's mentor sessions.

J-Lo forgetting Stevie's name reminded me why I left.

  6. I really want to see Room. I knew about it before last night's show, but I thought Trevor explanation of the plot was really poor. Fortunately, Brie Larson is funny, smart, and engaging.

You should definitely see it. It's extremely moving and Brie (and her co-star Jacob) are amazing. I cried. A LOT.

Trevor is well and truly settled in now and taking ownership of the jokes and the skits and he's looking very comfortable doing it.

I'm with you on that, shok. I think he's definitely finding his groove... and it'll be interesting to see how the show evolves as it goes along..

  7. I was happy to see my old favorite Kirk back, but then he ruined it by using the non-word "conversate".

OH MY GOD... I wanted to reach through my TV screen and thwap him upside the head when he said that. Come on, Kirk. You are smarter than that. Aren't you? :)

As for the rest of the show, I am thrilled that production is taking the comedic route for this. The crabs. The douchebag reference then the immediate entrance of JJ, the bird stuff with Ashley, Clare and the raccoon... it's all just so perfect.

  8.

Luke Spencer has made me sneer more than a few times in the past several decades, but - dammit - I started watching this soap when I was three years old (while my grandmother did her daily ironing)....and I have been there for all of Luke's hijinks, wild international capers, dangerous escapades. I wanted a better swan-song for this soap opera staple!  Even if IRL, Tony Geary is an egotistical bitchy bitch, I wanted a goodbye that made me stare at the TV screen, made me feel my age (old), and made me remember that it hasn't all been bad. Instead, I feel cheated. Both the writers and the actor clearly said, "Eh, fuck it," ordered a farewell cake, and called it a day. Believe me, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Jonathan Jackson visit (he really is a fantastic actor, IMO), and it's good to see Genie Francis full of life and style (not in a rocking chair and frightful wig). Don't get me started on the resuscitation of Frank Smith and Lil' Jake -- total bullshit.

Anyway, I don't like feeling cheated by a soap that I've stuck with for nearly four decades. GH was dinner table talk with my grandmother, aunt, cousin, and me. For Pete's sake, in grade school, my cousin and I would do pretend "cocktail" parties in which we would dramatically say, "A toast! To Luke and Laura!" and clink our plastic Tupperware cups. (We also toasted Robert and Holly, fyi.) Shit, we even toasted them at the dinner table sometimes (my family has a goofy sense of humor). So, this long overdue goodbye needed to pack more gusto.

So, I plan to fix myself a nice shandy and a piece of chocolate cake and search for my own compilation of YouTube GH flashback scenes:

    • The L&L wedding
    • Scenes with young Lucky
    • Scenes with Ruby
    • The Weather Machine
    • The CAMPUS DISCO!
    • Scenes with Bobbie and her original face
    • Bromance with Sean Donely (plus Tiffany)
    • Bromance with Robert Scorpio
    • Romance with Holly
    • Romance with Anna
    • The really well-acted scenes with Tracy
    • Warm scenes with Lila Quartermaine
    • Hatred for Scotty (80's only)
    • The shit with Heather Webber from long ago
    • Sinister scenes with the old Mikkos and Stavros
    • His old friendship with Alexis
    • When Carly was new in PC, and they realized they were related

Can I join you? I will bring the chocolate cake.

I started watching in 1980, in the height of Luke and Laura madness. Their wedding was on my birthday, actually. There are so many amazing Luke moments from that time period (and beyond) that it was extremely disappointing to not have his last episode include some sort of montage. It's not difficult to do. Shit, I'd have gone over there to produce the montage for them! It just felt like it was just any other story, not the final scenes of a legacy character, and a character that helped put GH into iconic status.

  9. I chuckled several times at some lines. In some ways, I think The Rock might be *too* pretty and shiny for this role and show. Someone more desperate and clearly more needy might have been a better choice. But let's see what happens.

BLASPHEMY!! The Rock is *never* too pretty for anything. :)

I liked it as well. I remember that ESPN show you were talking about and yes, the NFL was very quick to shut that down. But it's a different time - SO many instances of bad behavior have played out in real time in the press and through social media that the league can't sweep it all under the rug. Hopefully this show won't be all d-bag players and bad behavior, though.

Also, props to the powers-that-be for getting Don Shula and Larry Csonka!! GREAT cameos. I hope to see more like that over the course of the season.

  10. The continuity time warp on this episode was killing me. It started off being so "early" that Liz's young kids weren't up yet and Tracy was just rising (I could buy Sabrina being up early with AJ. Babies always seem to wake up far earlier than anyone wants them to!). Shirtless Dillon had already swam laps and worked on his screenplay. But at the same time, Michael and Rosalie were both at the office, Valerie was working away at the police station while Nathan was already out on a case and Maxie was up and dressed and ready with all her accusations.. and at the same time (or very close thereto), Nik was at the Metrocourt eating steak.

  11. I was all set to not watch today's ep, but then said "ah, what the heck." And I was pleasantly surprised. Not by the show itself, mind you.  But because I recognized WABC-NY entertainment reporter Sandy Kenyon, who had a bit part as the prison guard who brought Liz to Jake.  Go Sandy!

Also, the baby who plays Ava is amazingly adorable.

    I'm OK with Mad Michael.

When is KA's last day? Dear Lord, it can't come soon enough.

  12. You know what, show? You've now gone too far. You had Nathan eat a burger WITH the bun, fries AND drink a milkshake? Do you really think we believe a guy with that body eats carbs?! COME ON!!!!

I didn't hate the Johnny/Maxie scenes and I smiled at the Harper reference. It was cute. Kirsten played it right.

I agree- Olivia and Lulu can never break up.

    As for the rest.. meh.

  13. I really want to see Lee on the show. I want to see with my own eyes what Karen and Drita were fighting over for three seasons!!

If I'm remembering correctly, Drita said during one of the reunions (maybe last year??) that Lee never wants to be ON camera, so I don't think we'll be seeing him on the show any time soon. However, if you do a Google search, you can see a couple of photos of him. :)

Add me to the list of people who never thought Ang would get this angry and (eventually) violent. I would love to know exactly what it is that Renee has said "around the Island" that would set Ang off.  I don't recall seeing anything on Twitter that would do it. Then again, I wasn't looking out for it. I did see Renee posting a lot about "true friends" and "loyalty."

  14. How is it that Ryan Paevey has been on this show for almost a year already and he hasn't had one love scene. Ridiculous. Isn't that what they hired him for?!?!

    OH MY GOD..

He HASN'T had a love scene yet. That really is 100 kinds of wrong.

  15. Ava egged Michael's adoptive father to shoot his bio-dad, and just gave birth to a child that could be either Michael's half-sister or niece. "Whore" was a very gentle slur under the circumstances.

Yeah, I'm with you on this one in regards to calling Ave a "whore." She was sleeping with Michael's brother and schtupped his stepfather on his real father's grave. I don't like the word, but in this particular instance, I could see why it wa the go-to word.

"You cost me my whole life with my real father!"

PREACH, MICHAEL!!!! PREACH!!  I'm not the biggest CD fan out there, but I am loving these scenes.

So... when Nathan asked Anna in the hall if there was anything he could do for her, did anyone else want Anna to just plant a huge kiss on him?

    Just me?

  16.  And VA has way more chemistry with Super Swerve deVry than him.

The fact that you called him Super Swerve has made my day, JSBT. :)

I LOVED the Michael/Carly smack down and thought that both actors did a good job with it. Michael's single tear as he was watching the video got me.

And I'm with everyone who says FREE AVA from the Nina story. It's just too much. Also, I get that it's not sinking in for Silas about Nina because he got the text from "Ava" saying Morgan was back, but I mean... I don't know. Shouldn't you maybe head over and check in on the patient.... juuuuuust in case? Nina is crazy, hence dangerous. And not even Morgan could stop her from marking names off her revenge list.

  17. Cattitude, your devotion to the very pretty Det. Special Kitty makes me smile every time I see you defend him. :) Seeing that pretty face of his also makes me smile. Too bad we didn't get any Nathan today.

Tracy calling Ava Breathless Mahoney made me spit out my water today. The line - and the delivery - were perfection.

The dragging out of the Sonny-killing-AJ reveal till this stupid Halloween wedding could very well be the death of me.  I know... it'll lead into November sweeps. But still.. agh.

He reminded me of a beefier Keanu Reeves. Same acting skills, or lack thereof.

You'll change your mind when you see his new movie, John Wick. Ok, you won't - but you'll love it every time you see his character kill someone in awesome style! His character actually shoots -- and kills -- people. Unlike the assassins on GH (Ahem, Shawn).

  18.

I still think Maxie and Nathan are cuties together, terrible writing not withstanding.  And I'm liking Nathan/RP more and more, I don't know why.  Well, yes I do, yes I do.

Swordqueen, if you're like me, you are liking them more every time RP smiles... Hellloooo...

  19. Dear Producers,

If you edit future seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette like you edited the end of this crazy-ass show (the couple updates and credit bloopers), I will love you forever.
