I waited TWO WEEKS for someone to get punched in the eye. They ended up hitting themselves in the face with a cardboard shield. Thanks for making a fool of me, show.

It's never a real punch! Don't you know that by now? Never!!

but that's the only thing I have figured out about this show. The rest of it tonight kind of mystified me... I really thought Anthony had a chance to be there for the long haul. Is there something we weren't shown? Thy seemed to have a nice time on their date. They weren't showing him much so I assumed he was a sleeper. Usually there would be more explanation after someone with a promising 1-on-1 gets sent home.

Also she she gets impatient with Will - is it possible he was just taking things a little slower? Or is he definitely a famewhore who was hanging on to try to be the bachelor? Say it ain't so, Will!

Meanwhile she continues to hang onto Eric against all common sense or reason... he seems like a 15-year-old.  And Matt and Adam, huh?? Again they are not editing this to show us any reasons why.

I do agree Rachel really needs to be desired but I worry that may be clouding her judgement in favor of Bryan above all, just because he kisses the most/hardest. I still haven't really forgiven him for the "sloppy seconds" comment on Ellen.

  2. I'm interested to see how the show will play this. What will they say about the missing week? I understand some of the participants traveled together during that week, we may have missed whole relationships. Will they have to pretend none of that happened?

  3. Super excited about winter BIP. But what does this mean for The Bachelor? It is usually Jan-March, right? They gonna move it up? Or skip it this year so they don't have to answer why they aren't choosing a black Bachelor to follow Rachel?

The last scene with all the women and children was so tranquil.

Yes, and I appreciate the ending but I thought it odd that Renata brought Amabella when max was there. Just two days ago she thought he would kill her if she told on him.

I agree entirely, but wasn't that kind of the prevailing attitude at the time? Rebecca and Jack are/were 10 and 15 years older than my parents, respectively so I genuinely don't know.

That's a good question. I would say the attitudes were mixed, much as they are now. There were plenty of female breadwinners and high earners in the 1990s. But two-parent families were more likely than now to be able to be supported by one main income. My mom worked and most friends' moms worked, but it was for lower pay and seen as supplemental. There was more pressure on the man to be a sole provider --whereas now there is more pressure on/need for both parents to earn.

  6. gonna stick up for Rebecca here. He endangered himself and the family by drinking (and covering it up for weeks), and started a bar fight, plus he said what she is doing isn't a career. On her side.

the Buffy poster threw me off. One thing about being (close to) the same age as the kids, the little anachronisms throw me off. Buffy didn't start until 1997. The kids were born in 1980 but I thought they were supposed to be 15 when Jack died ?

(Maybe they never actually said that, just hinted?)

Not the pears specifically. I meant the dispassionate impersonal gift + card that businesses tend to send for occasions.

Seriously- it was clear none of the writers ever worked an office job. Took me out of it because I couldn't understand why they were upset. Until he said he was allergic. But that didn't seem why they were mad.

I never saw anything from Nick towards Liz other than, "why were you here?" He's ascribing underhanded motives to her coming on because she makes no sense and has never made sense when asked very clearly and directly why, when she had months, if she thought she made a mistake to contact to him, wait to come on national television where she would be competing with 20+ women for him.

You could be correct. But even if she did want to get on TV, Nick is the last person in the world who should be fame whore-shaming, as Jaclyn88 pointed out above. He had already won- he got to be the bachelor and he got to reject her back. It just seems petty/excessive for him to continue to pick on her. That's what makes me think he maybe had feelings or at least a bruised ego from her rejection of him. He can't let it go. They all want to be on TV- that's the baseline.

I will say, the one thing I still don’t understand is what Liz had to say. When I watched her speak with Chris Harrison, I found that she still didn’t make much sense to me. I’m not aware of any attempt she made at connecting with me before we met again that first night at the mansion. So watching back, I have no idea what she is talking about. If this was something she was so adamant about, I wish she had said something to me when I came onto the floor so we could clear things up. I guess Liz and I will just remain in a state of misunderstanding.

He needs to let this go. He still has a huge chip on his shoulder.  I don't think Liz had any bad intentions. My interpretation is since she never  knew if he was even that into her (she thought he was only asking for a phone number to be polite), she also doubted he would give up his bachelor gig for her. Rather than have him choose between pursuing something with her and the temptation of being the bachelor (and her likely lose), she decided to show up on the show. I'm sure she thought she had a slight edge and that was it.

Meanwhile, I think he liked her. He took her rejection a little tough and then ascribed underhanded motives to her coming on the show instead of calling him.

he seems unable to understand her point of view, but his harping on it is only making him look bad.

Re: Abby, is it possible that she wants to move out because she sees herself as an obstacle to Madeline and Ed's marriage? Abby is the reason Madeline still thinks about Nathan and that attachment has come between her and Ed on a couple of occasions.

I'm going to vote yes to the first part but not to your reason why. Not spoiled or anything, just a gut feeling.

  11. OMG Ed and Abby are sleeping together, aren't they. Sigh. I liked him, too. But all the clues--

    -BCPs

-Ed and Abby's adult talk about her mom seemed pretty familiar...

    - we know Ed and Madeline don't have a lot of sex

-now Abby doesn't want to live there any more

I expected it to be revealed this episode. Maybe we aren't to find out until the end.

i also had the feeling that Jane's rapist might be one of the dads.

What Andi really said was, "Please have sex with multiple women, rather than trying to prove I was wrong to sleep with you on my season. Seriously, that's not a battle worth winning. I'm not going to call you out on Twitter. Maybe. Also, having sex on television is very feminist."

Exactly! I bet show producers were worried he wouldn't sleep with them all and thus ruin suspense/drama/the show. Because he would have been afraid of looking like a hypocrite since he called Andi out on this behavior. So they called Andi in to set him free.

Regarding Raven, I was listening to hear whether she had ever had an orgasm or if she just hadn't with her ex. Pretty sure it was the latter- never with her ex. Sounds like they didn't have the trust/communication for her to feel comfortable telling him how to help her. Here's hoping she has learned that if she doesn't feel comfortable expressing her needs, it isn't a relationship worth pursuing.

  13. Bob Saget is so ... off.  Is he high? He doesn't seem like Danny Tanner at all. The mannerisms are way too much and too campy. It's like he forgot how to act.

Which is weird because he seemed fine in the How I Met Your Mother voiceovers.

maybe he just forgot how to be Danny. And his plastic surgery is distracting. :(

This so much. I hated this because: a) it's a slam at a whole generation disguised as a joke b) there's no sense that Rory knows them, which, come on, she grew up in Stars Hollow and didn't go to Chilton until she was what, 16? and c) they fawned over Rory like she's some sort of idol. Hated it as much as the fat shaming, it comes from the same mean spirited place.

Just finished "Summer" and came over here to join the chorus about how mean and hateful these new versions of the Girls are. The fat jokes, the boy slaves, the treatment of the 30-something gang, the treatment of relationship with Paul, and discussing surrogates like an escort service are just not funny and basically horrible and I kind of don't want to watch Fall. I kept waiting for the rest of the joke with the boys, like they hired the kids to follow them around with leaves. Were they always this mean? Someone upthread mentioned that there was fat shaming in the regular series; I don't remember it, but it's been a while.

Also, agree that editorship of small-town paper would at least pay a small salary, considering that Taylor said the reason the paper was folding was not because it was unsustainable but because the editor was retiring. These small-town community papers are actually sometimes lately doing better than the larger city newspapers, because of very local reporting and ad revenue.

What I am enjoying - the cameos, the nostalgia, the way they recreated Stars Hollow. They got so many awesome people to come back! Loved seeing Vanessa Marano, Sutton Foster, Carole King, Milo V and Matt C (The Good Wife totally biases me toward Logan now; although he's being awful, I want Cary to be happy). Mae Whitman! Was she ever in the regular series? I love that they sent Emily and Lorelai to counseling - that alone is worth the reboot if they can make it pay off in some way to advance their relationship.

But I really don't like this Petra/Anezka story!  It's bothering me from so many angles at once.  Being frozen like that for three months would be an unbelievable hell (that locked-in thing is absolutely my worst nightmare), and they've treated it with such lightness.  It doesn't track for me that Anezka would have the emotional coldness to keep re-injecting Petra every 24 hours, it does not seem to fit with the rest of her personality.  Nor do I quite believe Petra would come out of her paralysis with her vengeance fixated on Rafael... yes, he said something bad about her parenting, but also he was responsible for saving her, and I feel like she had the same doubts of her own mothering last season!  (though I can kind of buy the anger at him for not noticing that it was Anezka and not her)  Also, absolutely one of my favorite scenes in all of last season was Anezka's Mother's Day toast to Petra... I really thought their growing sister relationship was great, and I'm less interested in this poisonous version we're getting now.

Yes! Agree on all counts. Not to mention, if you had been lying in bed 3 months being tube fed and (maybe if anezka remembered) being turned over every once in a while to prevent bedsores- you would not just jump out of bed with no recovery.

The one interesting part of this I thought was that Petra wanted to join forces with Anezka and take the hotel.

but yeah... all of it felt really off and I'm going to miss sympathetic Petra.

  16. God, I missed this show.

I was sure Michael was going to die when they showed all the flash forwards. Did you catch their very diverse, awesome family in the BBQ scene?

I had a lump in my throat the entire hour.

I really miss Petra. Anezka makes me very uncomfortable. Yael is crazy talented.

i hope nothing prevents Xo from getting the abortion.
