  1. I'll put this in spoilers just in case.

    Spoiler

I'm glad that Brad won! I think he was the most talented and I wanted to eat that final right off the screen. Mainly the main dish. Even Leah struggled to say what she didn't like. She just said that she felt the sides were needed. That's why he gave them to you, Leah.

Also seeing above, so it should have been Kelah. That would have been nice as it seems like that would be a come from behind story. I'm not sure why Leanna was in the final then.

These judges are really annoying me with their stupid comments.  Telling Leanna that using dental floss was genius - that tip has been around for years.  My husband uses a bakers bench knife which works just as well.

I was confused by this too. As I could have sworn I've seen this used on the British Bake off, so not very new.

  3. I just finally watched this show. Despite hearing about it for a while. I have to confess I'm not sure I've ever seen the Addams family. Like I know what it is but there were clear stuff that went over my head due to this such as her uncle randomly appearing and being very annoying or Thing.

Anyhow as for the story itself. It was an entertaining watch but agreeing with above, Wednesday needs to learn how to integrate people. You can't just accuse them, as they aren't going to confess. And she was wrong twice, and due to not waiting for the proof.

I honestly was suspicious of Tyler from the beginning. It seemed obvious that he was an outcast. I'm not sure how much was him or the creature. Like he generally seemed scared when Wednesday kidnapped him. So was he innocent but being used? If that's the case he's dad should have told him the truth about his mother, then none of this would have happened.

One thing that bothered me about both of the love interests was that they were so pushy and controlling. She made it clear to both of them, that she didn't want a relationship. But then they got offended when she didn't act like she was already in one with them. Also how much time had passed, it didn't seem like she had enough time to have two of them after her.

As for the other characters they fit the usual stereo types, Queen Bee who turns out to be a decent, Nerdy best friend who saves the day, etc.

As for the teacher that was behind it. So if I understand correctly she faked her death, went back and got a job at the school where she hates the students do to them being "different". Waited around for years for a specific student to come at some point. To use magic to conjure her ancestor to kill them. And didn't see the irony in that.

Anyhow some thoughts. I can see why people watched this how. I did know somethings going in, such as Edin's (sp) wolfing out at the climax (though this was also just predictable) and the infamous dance scene.

  4. My husband and I watched this as a relaxing show. I of course compared it right away to the British Bake Off. Even to how they have the contestants walk into the tent Cabin. But I did enjoy the first season anyway.

I will say I called from the first episode that Silvia was going to win, without being spoiled at all. I however, do think she was the most talented of the chefs maybe I bought into their hype or just like Mexican food (which I do). Foo being a close second. So I do think the right people were eliminated when they were. However, one thing that bothered me in the finale was they showed each time Silvia get "star baker" but not Foo (who I feel like won just as often).

And I agree that they need more directions on what they can make as it was to whatever you feel like. Which makes it hard to compare them fairly. My favorite was when they switched recipe though they were still allowed to do what they wanted.

And the judges were annoying. Especially Leah. I don't care about your opinion on how they should improve their grandparents recipe. Like seriously some of these were passed down and a lot to them were personal and she just says oh that's "cute" this how I will make it better.

Anyhow, I enjoyed it overall. Off to season 2.

  5. I enjoyed this series for the most part. As always the TV one is my favorite. Though I think they should have put in movies as well. The rise of the MCU would have been worth discussing, as it lasted the whole decade.

As for the last episode, it seemed like they were going at it as lets cover the year 2020. Which is such a complex year, that it did need it's own episode. And the way they are doing it, it would fall in the past decade (not this one). However at the end there they went into 2021. I was watching this with my husband, we came to the conclusion that they had to do this (despite being this decade). If they didn't, they couldn't talk about the election results, Jan 6 and arresting the cop (that killed George Floyd). And they would have to wait 7+ years to cover it.

I loved how they covered the TV shows slightly in this one as well, as I remember Stephen Cobert in the bathtub as it was a product of it's time. And of course ending it with John Oliver's FU 2020 clip made me smile :).

  6. I just finished watching the whole thing. I never read the book. So had no idea what happens or if it was a close adaptation. Anyhow I enjoyed it a lot. Are they making a 4th season?

Anyhow I was wondering if anyone else thought Tristan was just British Tom Paris (Star trek Voyager). He is a kind a screw up but a likable one, a ladies guy but you know he is going to find "the one" eventually. I think that the bartenders husband will die and he'll end up with her.

  7. The other thing I'm pretty sure I've said before. I wish they had set up that Lane works at Carole King's character's music shop and that end she retires and leaves Lane the store. As she's been such a supporter of the store since before day one and she see's Lane's passion for music. It would have been a way better fit for the characters career.

That being said the one thing the revival did get right is that Lane is happy married to Zach still with a loving (but quirky) family.

  8. I feel like that's a common opinion. At least  I agree with it. I didn't like the A year in a life. As most of the stories were done poorly or worse insulting. And then there were some character things that I didn't like. I didn't like that Lane worked for her mother (it just doesn't fit with the character) and I don't see any universe where Paris didn't become a Lawyer (maybe with a medical background). But the career she was in didn't fit the character at all. But not nearly as disappointing as Lanes was.

  9. I'm okay with this. If she wants to support the writers good for her. As for Ken, he's not in any guild as he's not an actor or a writer. All the clues are already written, he's just hosting. So he's not crossing any picket lines.

  10. My pitch would be to have the kids have nothing to with the OG characters other then living in the Wizarding world. So no curse child lol. At least not the main characters.

I've been watching All Creatures great & Small and Matthew Lewis is in a few episodes. So he's still acting. So he could then reprise his role as Professor Longbottom (if he was willing). And some of the other teachers could reprise their roles too. But having new characters would allow this to be guest star appearances or recurring roles.

Smallville had a great cast, but little structural integrity. It was like 3 different shows over the course of 10 years. Very frustrating. A lot of squandered potential.

I feel this way too. I like the earlier seasons a lot but once it gets to somewhere in season 6 it loses something.

Edit: apparently I agree with myself from 1 years ago lol.

So new comment: I don't see a continuation happening as the cast is getting to old. The best we'll probably was that random cross over with the current shows (which I honestly haven't seen). But I guess Tom and Erika reprise their roles. So good enough.

  12. I'm disappointed that they don't just make a new story. I'm thinking about new kids going to Hogwarts. It will allow them creative freedom and for audiences to not know what will happen next. It wouldn't be a prequel so you also don't know where the characters end up either (problem with the Marauders or founders story).

And on a more controversial note, it would also open it up for them to cast whoever they want. No one could complain that they don't look the way they are "supposed" too. As they would be new characters with no descriptions predetermined. Sure, people will still complain but it will be way less.

Since that isn't what they are doing, I'll see how this goes. But I personally grew up with the movies so my standards will be very high. And I will compare it to the movies. I don't think these need to be made and hope that that prove me wrong.

It had a lot of the problems that the show did. Great ideas they didn't fully explore and getting sidetracked with the "it's so cool!" factor. (Okay, great ideas may have been more the show than the movie, but hey.)

I was strangely okay with Derek dying, though did it have to be by fire? Really? The man's life hasn't sucked enough apparently. But I didn't care for the eulogy Scott gave because it sounded like they had been brothers from the very beginning which isn't true. There was a lot of animosity between them that was never fully addressed, but why would you use a TV show to explore relationships?

I also really didn't care for the Sheriff's implication that Stiles just walked away from the jeep. Stiles never walks away from anyone or anything he loves. I think I remember them saying on the show that the jeep belonged to Stiles' mom, but I concede I could be mixing up fanon with canon.

And yet I kind of buy Lydia's reason for breaking up with him. Too bad we didn't get to see his side of things, but I'm not sure what we would have seen there even if DOB had signed on.

The thing with Derek and Scott is that also 15 years or so passed since the series ended. So to Scott they've been friends for a long time, to the point where Scott doesn't even think about when they met just the past decade or so...

As for the jeep, yes this bothers me. In the series Stiles leaves it to Scott because he joined the FBI. And Derek had little to no interaction with it.

  14. My thoughts on the movie:

    Spoiler

    Pro:

    • I liked how they handled Stiles, they mentioned him often, and had an important scene about him and Lydia. That being said I didn't like that they split up and would hope they get back together. It was the best way to have him be "in the movie" without actually being in it. And honestly this is better then a cameo (Like what Gilmore Girls did)
    • Derek as a Dad. I liked it and his relationship with Eli. Though I feel like the only person could be his mother is Braden based on the math. Which does bring up questions but I'm not going into that.
    • Alison: which surprises me as I was not happy that they were bringing her back. However, the actor did the best that she could with the role and it had emotional impact.
    • The adult characters as usual, sheriff is awesome as is Melissa. I somehow missed she became a Doctor. And Parrish playing a major part.
    • The coach, always a pleasure.

    Dislike:

    • the use of the Nogisune. It didn't make a lot of sense or the incursion of Harris. As he has been dead and had no beef with the main characters (who were in high school at the time). It seemed like the writer didn't watch season 3.
    • The lack of explanation of where the characters were at the start of the movie. Like why was Liam in Japan, why did Deaton follow Scott to LA. And Malia and Parrish (really?).
    • The Kira knock off. I know there was a lot of drama surrounding this but then they just had someone else in the movie. But gave no explanation on who she is or how Liam met her.
    • Lack of some character interactions, like how did Liam and Mason not interact once, other relationships that didn't get a reason for ending (Chris & Melissa). Mason barely being in it at all. I seriously didn't even realize it was him until half way through.
    • A bit to much Eli. Don't get me wrong, I liked the character but to much focus on him. The final fight scene (with the illusions) should have been Derek, Scott and Liam. This is what would have made more sense. As they are the experienced wolf fighters.
    • Which brings me to Derek's death. It was dumb to be honest. I can see from the writing perspective for killing him off, but the scene didn't work. The Nogisune was out numbered and all Scott, Derek and Parrish had to do is count to three and the two let go and Parrish burns him. Derek deserved a death that made more sense.

Overall, I like this movie but my expectations were very low. It was entertaining and could have been way worse. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

  15. I watched this yesterday as there was nothing else on. I liked all three Celebrities. And loved when Patton was shocked that he won ;).

I will say it was a bet jarring to go from Jeopardy to this. Ken is just a better host. I was confused on what Mayim laughing at multiple times and she just seemed to be going along with the motions without the passion for the game (at least not as much as Ken clearly has). But I guess that's okay for celebratory Jeopardy. I was pleasantly surprised to see the constants however, were taking it seriously well until the end. But that's okay as it was FJ and I had no idea either.

  16.  I like this episode a lot, even if it was predictable that Astrid would end up on their side. I do wish we got a bit more of that conversation. We got some in a flashback.

I loved the team interactions as usual. Like Harry and Parker in the vents. And Beanna being like it's up to me... well then I just be someone else lol. And of course the end with Hardison. Now I want to see them break into NASA. Next season? ;).

  17. I also struggle not to say "we" when describing the Bills. But that was a hard game to watch. My family gave up after the third quarter :(. I was to young to remember us going to the super bowls. So in my life time the only time we were good is the past few years. I really did want to win this year or at least make it to the game.

But the team just wasn't there yesterday. It was pretty much everyone on the team that struggled. Hopefully next year.
