indeed June 10, 2014 Share June 10, 2014 Weevils are appearing all over the streets of Cardiff, and then disappearing again - but not by alien forces. People are abducting them, and using the Weevils for their own purposes, so Owen investigates. Gwen: What time will you be back? Rhys: Not sure. Gwen: But, I'm in tonight. Rhys: Well I'm not. ... What can I say about this episode? Ianto eats grapes. It's a winner in my book. LOL Link to comment
itsmeyousee June 24, 2014 Share June 24, 2014 One of the best Interviews or interrogations ever Indeed. They are so non plussed and have a great connection. But that whole side of the ep i love, love Jack, love Ianto and love Tosh. They all work so easily together and i'm why can't TW work this this all the time. Compared to the last ep where they were dreadful and i wouldn't depend on TW to help me with squat, yeah i trust this lot.. The bad side , I don't think Owen is bad in this. I just don't care about his pain, while i get the fall they are going for with him, truly don't care. He shouldn't have been screwing Dianne to start. But the dude the weevil/real estate dude , dreadfully casting. He is so slimy you can see the oil dripping off him and why on earth did they give him a line about "the darkness is coming" How would that dude know ? seriously lame. And of course the big one Gwen and Rhys. I'm sorry that if i was Rhys after the shit he has had so far Gwen belongs would have been out on the street after that dinner. He is being so lovely and trying so hard just to have some time together and she looks bored shitless. Gwen isn't even listening to a word Rhys is saying. Then she comes alive cause she sees Jack and can't wait to run off and leave Rhys and Rhys shouldn't yell at her WTF Are these writers nuts ? Why the hell not ? And of course it's gets worse and i have you tell i don't know which part is worse. The fact that Gwen spills the beans to Rhys about Owen but has retconned him first so he won't remember and that's after Suzie/Max wouldn't that be considered dangerous to Rhys or the reason she has done it. Which looks like it's because Tosh dumped Gwen instead of Owen because Gwen had no idea about Dianne or her constantly trying to crawl up Jack's arse in the ep take your pick really for her reasoning. But it has to do with other guys that she has been with or wants to be with and she wants to relieve her own guilt. It has absolutely nothing to do with Rhys. And then she comes back to the Hub, leaving Rhys by himself. Not knowing what reaction Rhys could have to retcon, all to crawl back up Jack's arse again. She brings two pizzas and only calls out for Jack,, so to me Gwen isn't expecting anyone else to be at the Hub OMG "heart of Torchwood" having a heart would be a surprise at this stage. It is the most mind blowing act of selfishness i have ever witnessed until Gwen will top herself in other eps. I am truly and utterly at a loss for what the writers are expecting me to think or how they want me to sympathise with Gwen. I swear to everything these writers do not watch any part or talk to anyone else on this whole show, truly mind blowing. Link to comment
Swansong June 24, 2014 Share June 24, 2014 (edited) I am truly and utterly at a loss for what the writers are expecting me to think or how they want me to sympathise with Gwen. I swear to everything these writers do not watch any part or talk to anyone else on this whole show, truly mind blowing. It's because she's so huuuman! I guess her retconning him is supposed to be mitigated by him shouting at her earlier, but I can't say I agree. He's kind of an arse, but she manages to be an even bigger one. And they don't even convince me she does it because the relationship means all that much to her. She feels guilty about the affair enough to retcon him so she can confess without consequences, but not enough to make even a cursory effort on one of the supposedly rare times they're out together? Whatever Gwen. Why am I supposed care about this relationship at this point? But I guess that's Gwen logic because she doesn't apparently consider that then she'll likely just have two more things to feel guilty about on top of the affair. Although I guess she gets over it all since later she has no compunction about telling him there'll be no more secrets between them when all this is still sitting in the treasure chest. I probably wouldn't mind that she's such a hypocrite if the show didn't keep trying to sell it as something else. And I agree about Mark. One of the dullest guest characters imo. Him saying there's something in the dark. Did a weevil tell him that? Laziest attempt at foreshadowing and plot building ever. At least Owen's reaction to Diane leaving him in this episode is somewhat measured in comparison to how he is in the last two episodes of the season. He actually manages to make Ianto's response to Lisa in Cyberwoman seem reasonable in comparison at that point. I enjoy the interactions between Jack, Ianto and Tosh too. There's a look they both get when Jack does something at one point that is priceless. I don't much care for this episode because I find Mark's male angst pretty tedious, but I'll watch this episode just to watch those three interacting. Edited June 24, 2014 by Swansong Link to comment
itsmeyousee June 25, 2014 Share June 25, 2014 If that's being "Huuuuman", i'd like to be a weevil please LOL. At least they seem to care about each other. Link to comment
