paramitch October 9, 2014 Share October 9, 2014 Topanga, I kind of agree and don't. I get what you're saying, but I think there are ways of putting forth a genre show like this without making it a cool genre show framed within a bad cop show. Like, right now it's kind of a Quincy/CSI/Bones clone that is secretly a much more interesting genre show set in a fantasy universe at its core. And that's what I would love to watch. However, from a network exec POV? I admit it, they're probably smart to do it this way. They get people who are seeking casual "dead guy of the week" entertainment who end up staying despite the fact that it is secretly sci-fi. But -- if it finds its feet, and gets some decent ratings (fingers crossed), I think the audience is smarter than the network thinks, and so will be interested in how this evolves. I'd like to see it veer away from "utterly inane case of the week" and into slightly more complex territory and there's a lot of room for that to happen, so we'll see. Link to comment
