Long Bright River is based on the 2020 novel of the same name by Liz Moore. Michaela “Mickey” Fitzpatrick is a Philadelphia police officer who's beat is Kensington neighborhood which is hard-hit by the opioid crisis. Mickey is constantly on the look out for her missing sister, Kacey, who is living on the streets and struggles with addiction. When a series of murders start to happen in the neighborhood, Mickey realizes that her own troubled past might be related to the case. Long Bright River shows how an underserved community initially perceived as victims can band together to regain their collective power.
