The main character is Ana who comes to live with her uncle as a young girl. He is the head of personnel for Velvet and he and Ana- along with the seamstresses and sales clerks- have living quarters in the store. Ana falls in love with Alberto, the son of the family who owns Velvet. But his father sends Alberto away to London to keep them apart. Ana becomes a seamstress in the store and eventually a designer. surfgirl February 12 Author Share February 12 Por favor mis amigas y amigos, someone please tell me I'm not the only one watching this Spanish series? I'm really enjoying it. The opening is pretty cheesy but the characters are really great and I recognize a lot of the actors from the other Spanish series PBS aired a couple of years back called La Otra Mirada. It's sort of like a Spanish Upstairs/Downstairs but set in a Madrid department store called Velvet.
