Girl in a Cardigan February 11 Share February 11 I just started watching this show in preparation of the Phil Dunster-featured season 2, so I thought I'd see if there was any discussion here. Just finished the first two episodes and I'm very intrigued. It definitely helps that it's set in SF (where I live), so I'm constantly looking at the background to see where she is or what's going on around them. I've seen the husband in another Phil Dunster-adjacent thing, so it's funny to see him here, playing an American. Loving the premise and I'll be back with more thoughts as go through the series, even if I'm talking to myself. 😂 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151824-season-1-general-discussion/
Girl in a Cardigan February 11 Author Share February 11 Just finished episode five and I'm locked in, but I'm still dying at Sophie taking BART to places all over San Francisco (in empty cars!) or just walking down Market Street in the middle of the night with no one around. The locales are beautiful because our city is beautiful, but some of the logic is ridiculous. (And don't even get me started on the Palace of Fine Arts!) 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151824-season-1-general-discussion/#findComment-8577767
Girl in a Cardigan February 12 Author Share February 12 Wow - I just watched episode 6 - "The Myth of California" and that was INCREDIBLE! Great work by Oliver Jackson-Cohen for anchoring the whole thing. Didn't even feel like it was so much longer than the previous episodes. Can't wait to see how the last two episodes wrap things up before season 2. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151824-season-1-general-discussion/#findComment-8578420
Girl in a Cardigan February 12 Author Share February 12 I promise I'll stop replying to myself soon - but I just have such a huge nit to pick in episode 7. Sophie goes to meet Baden at the transit station or whatever to confront him. But they establish both before and after that scene with The Pacific Central Station - which is famously in VANCOUVER. WHY WHY WHY would they do that?! San Francisco has an iconic Ferry Building, which is obviously not a train station (the CalTrain station isn't picturesque and doesn't go further than San Jose - you have to go to Oakland for the Amtrak), but if you're just looking for a gorgeous transit center, we have that (it's not open at night because again, it's just for FERRIES, but it's fiction, so who cares). Totally took me out of that scene. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151824-season-1-general-discussion/#findComment-8578437
Snazzy Daisy February 13 Share February 13 My favorite part of Surface S01 is Stephan James as Baden. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151824-season-1-general-discussion/#findComment-8580250
