Snazzy Daisy October 27, 2024 Author Share October 27, 2024 Two mentally unwell characters with biblical names — Eli and Noah who develop an eerie, inexplicable bond. Eli is grieving. His wife, Lynn has committed suicide, leaving him in pain and denial. He is haunted by Lynn’s presence and he thinks her death is an “inconvenience”. Eli has recurring dreams of falling into an empty swimming pool, cracking his bones and head. In his nonverbal, fugue-like state, Noah keeps seeing water coming down the wall that turns into a monster. In a session with Eli, he throws a fit, screaming in 17th century Dutch. Quote “I’m scared. Save me. Please save me.” In school, Noah sees the water-based monster in a shape of big leech trying to wrap around his classmate’s neck and he stabs that kid with a pencil. Eli has a photo of a farmhouse on his fridge, probably left behind by Lynn. And Noah draws the same isolated farmhouse.
