What happened to the show 20/20? I can still find Dateline and 48 Hours but 20/20 disappeared.

Thank you but I don’t know how I will find it again since it doesn’t show up on shows I’m following or on the list of shows index

You can either follow it or you'll find it in the Nonfiction/Documentaries category, Disney Entertainment, ABC.

But how will newcomers to the site find it if they can’t simply use the search box on the front page?

The shows will be indexed eventually (indexing makes them search-able with the search box on the front page). However, every indexed show shows up as "recently added" regardless of whether it's new or not. In order to avoid cluttering up the "recently added" category with non-recent shows, the indexing has to happen step by step.
