The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin is a 6 episode Comedy TV Series with the first 2 episodes streaming on March 1, 2024 on Apple TV+.   

Dick Turpin is a real-life legendary 18th century British highway robber, and this TV Series does not even remotely attempt to depict an accurate picture of his life. Dick Turpin sets out on a journey of wildly absurd escapades when he believes he was destined for something bigger than a life chopping meat in his dad’s butcher’s shop. Turpin is a peace-loving vegan who believes in panache over pistols, but what he lacks in hard-core highway skills he makes up for in imagination, invention and incredibly pointy purple shoes. Turpin is made the reluctant leader of a notorious bunch of outlaws, "the Essex Gang", where he finds his calling. Can Turpin stay one step ahead of the corrupt lawman and self-appointed "Thief Taker General", Jonathan Wilde. In this irreverent retelling, Turpin is the most famous but least likely of highway robbers, whose success is defined mostly by his charm, showmanship and great hair. Together with his gang of lovable rogues, Turpin rides the highs and lows of his new endeavors, including a brush with celebrity, all whilst trying to escape the clutches of Jonathan Wilde.

Noel Fielding as Dick Turpin, a peace-loving vegan who doesn't want to end up chopping meat in his dad’s butcher’s shop. He becomes a highway robber and leader of the Essex Gang.

Duayne Boachie as Honesty Courage, one of Dick’s Essex Gang. Honesty lives in the moment, it’s just not the same moment as everyone else. While admittedly sometimes slow on the uptake in high stress situations, he can be prone to moments of brilliant, blinding insight. 

Ellie White as Nell Brazier, one of Dick’s Essex Gang, she has dreamed of being a highwayman ever since she was a little girl. Brought up in the lap of luxury, at the age of sixteen, Nell threw away her fancy dresses, for hiding in ditches.

Marc Wootton as Moose Pleck, one of Dick’s Essex Gang, is a terrifying looking man-mountain; but on the inside he's just a big old softie. After years of being terrorised by various brutal gang leaders, he’s convinced he’s found his soulmate in Dick Turpin.

Tamsin Greig as Lady Helen Gwinear, the elected leader of the Syndicate, a union of organized crime groups with fingers in every pie from illicit eel husbandry to diamond smuggling. A working mother who fought her way up the greasy pole of the crime underworld, Helen is an uncompromising and brutal boss.

Mark Heap as John Turpin, Dick Turpin's father, Hempstead’s irascible butcher. Lover of meat; hater of vegetables. He hides his affection for his son, Dick, under a layer of cynicism so deep not even a meat cleaver could penetrate it.

Joe Wilkinson as Geoffrey the Gaoler, the ultimate nihilist, who will tout his mediocre services to anyone in need of a jailer, security guard or general dogsbody – no questions asked.

Noel Fielding’s Apple TV+ Dick Turpin Series ‘Ceases Production’ on Season 2

After 3 month's into the filming Season 2 of the “The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin” production has ceased after Noel Fielding just stopped showing up to work.

Any speculation here? It's very odd if Noel just...didn't show up for filming. Contract dispute? He posted on IG today about David Lynch's death (RIP sir) but hasn't addressed this as far as I can see. It seems  very unlike him.
