In the next upgrade, can you change the verb to "are" as it'll only be wrong if one user are there, but now it's wrong if any number BUT one is there.

Short answer, no.

Long answer, unfortunately this is part of the platform software the site uses which is baked in. We have no control over that and are at the mercy of the the software folks - who don't appear to have it at the top of their priority list. Which means, it may be fixed it the next update release, but probably won't be.
