The TV Series is based on a manhwa (Korean Comic) of the same name from 1997 written by Yoon In Wan and illustrated by Yang Kyung II and republished as a webtoon in 2016. It follows three powerful individuals who come together to protect Jeju Island (and the world) from evil forces threatening to break through. Will they band together to defeat these evil monsters, or will their emotions get the best of them, and they fail? Cha Eun-woo is portraying John Skelp (Kang Chan Hyuk), a Korean expatriate who arrives to Jeju Island from the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Manhattan in New York in the United States. He is a Catholic priest who performs exorcisms and rescues innocent souls from evil, but growing up in the United States, he retained his knowledge of the Korean language by watching K-Dramas. Lee Da-hee as Won Mi-ho, a wayward heiress from a family that runs a large corporation (the Daehan Group), a spoiled affluent girl who is banished to Jeju Island by her father owing to her arrogance, which leads her to commit a grave mistake. She causes big trouble and is sent to Jeju Island, where she works as a high school ethics teacher. She then gets involved in a case related to ghosts. Kim Nam-gil as Pan/Van/Ban, an immortal and amoral monster hunter who is not quite human himself. Raised as a protector since he was a child and trained to be a weapon against wicked demons. Despite his lack of expressiveness, he feels regretful for not being able to defend all the innocent lives lost by possessed victims. As an immortal being who has protected the world from evil spirits for thousands of years. He now fights against evil and kills victims who are possessed. He may not show emotion for his actions, but, within his mind, he feels guilt. Only a woman can end his cursed immortal life. Sung Joon plays Goong Tan, also an immortal, he and Ban were raised together to defeat evil. But due to an incident, Goong-Tan no longer wishes to work with Ban. Go Doo-shim as Geum Baek-joo Park Geun-hyung as Jong Ryeong, the head of a secret organization which to prevent goblins crawling out of another world to destroy the world. Jung Soo-bin as Lee Su-ryun, a high school girl who has a special relationship with Ban and Mi-ho. Yoo Yi-joon as Kyung Jun. She falls for her aunt’s plot and becomes the center of a controversy after beating up a person in the middle of the city. Mi-ho is sent to Jeju Island until things quiet down, but she comes across a lust demon in a wedding dress. S01.E02: Episode 2 Not only was Mi-ho chased twice by lust demons, but the police are now also treating her like a drug user. She is trying to come up with a plan to escape Jeju Island and go back to Seoul. But before she could get on a plane, she ended up in a life-threatening car chase with a lust demon. Link to comment
AnimeMania December 31, 2022 Author Share December 31, 2022 Episodes 1-2 The fight scenes are interesting, although I wish Van didn't look or act like there was no way he could lose. I guess Van's Suit is immortal too, since it seems to get torn in every fight and still looks brand new. Do Korean car not have airbags? It would have made Mi-ho walking away from the car crash unscathed seem more realistic. Link to comment
