House of Spoiler Policy

Recommended Posts

Given the fact that many folks will know what's coming because they've read Fire & Blood or The Rogue Prince or The Princess and the Queen or all of the above; to protect innocent eyes from book spoilers we're going to have two topics for each episode that airs, tagged "Book Talk" and "No Book Talk".

Each thread will have one of the following tags:

  1. If tagged "Book Talk": There is open air book talk in here. If you are just watching the TV show and you don't want to stumble into a potential spoiler you should just avoid these. Book Talk assumes you have read any of the mentioned books above. Any information from unpublished books, such as preview chapters should be in spoiler tags.
  2. If tagged "No Book Talk": This is for discussion of the TV show only, no book talk allowed - including saying "but it's different in the books". Any spoiler from outside the books, i.e. previews/other media should be in spoiler tags.
  3. If tagged "Spoilers": Explicit TV spoiler talk, open air TV spoilers inside. Always put book stuff in spoiler tags in these topics.
  4. If tagged "No Spoilers": Explicitly a no spoiler topic, don't post spoilers here. Related backstory is fine here, but not future plot points. If in doubt use spoiler tags.
  5. If no tag: Not explicitly Spoiler or No Spoiler so use inline spoiler tags as necessary. Always put book stuff or spoilers in spoiler tags in these topics.

Thank you.

Any mention\discussion of HotD extras (After The Episode, Behind The Scenes, Etc), in episode threads, should be behind spoiler tags.  There is a dedicated thread here.

How are these rules applied to spoilers from the Game of Thrones TV show, such as the fate of one character being described in season 3 episode 4?

Minor spoilers are permitted. A-bomb spoilers are not, which means if it reveals the fate of a main character it should at minimum be spoiler tagged.

Moderators do not necessarily read every single post, which is why we ask that members help us out by reporting (using the flag icon at the bottom of the post) any post which they think may have violated forum policy. Thanks.
