  1. Aw, poor Gates. I liked him way more than Alex. At least Alex was polite enough to give him and Claire some privacy, taking out his ear thing.

I hope Noma's wings are growing back and that's why her nubbins hurt.

I always enjoy seeing Michael's crochet sweater. My head canon is that he made it himself.

  2. Are there only 3 hours of daylight? Or are they just all really terrible with time management? Because it seems like they always get caught out in the dark.

I'm still baffled as to why Eph is so important that the Master has to concoct plans to kidnap Zach. It's not like Eph is much of a threat. All his plans go to crap before they come to fruition.

  3. Alex's "slight case of gas" reaction to Claire losing the baby was painful. I feel so uninvested in what happens to Alex and he's ostensibly the focus of the show.

I really need to know Tom Wisdom's skincare regimen. He looks so dewy fresh all the time!

  4. I thought both she and Travis had bizarrely subtle reactions to Cal coming back to life. "What's going on?" "I don't know." Said with all the shock and horror and confusion of people wondering why a certain brand of mustard was out of stock at the grocery store. They already seem inured to things, especially Madison. By the time she really gets used to the new world order, the sight of a zombie will flat out put her to sleep.

  5. I suppose he did. But if Hannibal had actually made a pass at him, would Will have gone along with it to keep the game going?

I think if Will had gone along with it, at least before the murder orgy, Hannibal probably would have been suspicious. Then Will would have been suspicious. And then it would end up like a melodramatic opera version of "gay chicken" to see who gives away their true intentions first.

  6. I don't think it's so much that Will feeds Hannibal's ego. If anything, Will has more power to poke holes at his ego and make him feel vulnerable. That's why Hannibal was so mad in last season's finale. He gave Will a "gift" and felt spurned. I think Will makes him feel human, like his sister did, since they kept drawing those parallels earlier in the season. Does this make Hannibal a better person now? Nooo. It makes him more fully actualized. It might make him more evil, even. Because where he would kill for aesthetics, curiosity or convenience before, now he can kill with feeling. He can kill for passion! He can be even more brutal! Getting in touch with his own empathy because of Will, he can be even better at being cruel, if he subscribes to Bedelia's thoughts on the matter.

  7. So far, Tobias and Nick are the only ones I care about surviving. Well, and I guess Alicia, too, even though if she keeps walking down the freaking middle of the street with her ear buds in she's going to end up run over like her brother.

When Cal died last week, I thought they were carrying on the original's tradition of one black man out, one black man in. I thought that meant the boyfriend would be surviving. Haha I was wrong.

  8. Fet said Dutch was helping her find a new place in one of the buildings they already cleared. I don't remember the reason given. She probably wanted to move out of their relatively safe accommodations in order to get away from Zach.

  9. I can understand Madison not wanting to say "well I killed the principal" to Alicia, but say something, for crying out loud.

    Alicia: Mom what's going on?

    Madison: ...

    Alicia: Mom?

    Madison: ....

    Alicia: Mom?

    Madison: ..............

Just say, "Some bad things are going down and I'll explain when I can. For now, just stay safe." Quit staring off in dramatic silence like you're waiting for the commercial break!

  10. I'm not especially keen on Fuller's murder/suicide explanation unless he means that Hannibal lets Will murder him? Which I guess isn't exactly the same thing as suicide? Otherwise, if Hannibal had planned to survive the night, it means he had to be dumb enough to pull Will up right next to the edge instead of literally anywhere else on the patio. And Hannibal is usually more meticulous than to do something like that by accident.

  11. I don't know if Will planned for all those guards to die, but he didn't seem especially upset by it, either. I think Francis probably knew the plan was a trap and decided to follow them from the hospital, or somewhere nearby, and just cut out all the middle men.

Did Hannibal and Will take the police car all the way to his house? Did they hotwire another car somewhere en route? Because I feel like somebody should have been able to track the missing police car(s) pretty quickly.

  12. Fuller's interview someone linked above disappointed me. I thought he alluded to changing the ending to give the shippers something they wanted. To me this show was a work of art, and art pieces need to stand as organic to the artist. It would be no different than an artist changing a painting to please an art patron. I'm sure these things are done in some cases, but it ruins the art for me. It still was quite beautiful and I will still want to own this season, but I wish Fuller would have said this was his intent all along.

In this interview he specifically says he changed it to not be fan service: http://www.vulture.com/2015/08/bryan-fuller-hannibal-finale-campy-sensual.html

The writers and actors tried to make it more overtly sexual and Fuller's the one who scaled back on it.

But he has been calling it a love story all along.

  13. Ah, so it was written specifically for this show, and that scene. No wonder it felt so on-the-nose. In a good way, to me, anyway.

I've seen the theory floated on tumblr that Will and Hannibal didn't jump off the cliff at all and that's why you don't see them still falling when the camera looks over the edge right after. It's not like it goes from slow motion to regular speed, so it seems like we should still see them on the way to impacting the water.

I don't know. I'm perfectly fine with having the ending up in the air, so to speak. If they took the fall, then I think they both meant to die. If it's only a symbolic falling, like the imagery of both Will and Bedelia sinking through miles of water (or blood in Will's case) earlier this season, then I'm fine with that too. I mean, anything's possible. A pig gave birth to a human baby. Chilton survived levels of bodily harm that should have killed him multiple times over. Jack went along with Will's "fake Hannibal escape" plan. I can't begin to predict what's "logical" on this show.

    • Hannibal looking over at Will, as if asking for help, when Francis was talking about killing him... and it almost looked like he winced when Will got stabbed in the face (he probably was internally screaming "not the face, not the pretty face", I know I was, thankfully it is not so bad)... and then during the fight, they pretty much communicate with eyes as to what their next moves will be. Well done, show...

Yes, loved the two flinches when Francis attacked Will. Hannibal, who had no reaction to being stabbed by Mason and barely a reaction to being branded by Cordell, flinches at the sight of Will being hurt.

When Will said that line about beef and cows, I was like... Will, you just recently had that conversation with Bedelia. You are not beef to Hannibal. Nobody feels a stab of hunger for a burger and then is satisfied by merely looking at it. Trust me, I've been on 500 diets. It doesn't work.

  14. Fuller's been calling it a "love story" since long before the show even premiered, so I can't see it as "pandering" to any particular fan base. This has been his design all along, more or less.

But yeah I don't think Will and Hannibal died. They may have intended to, but the post-credits scene seems to imply that at least one of them is still alive. Bedelia picked up that fork at the end to use as a weapon against whomever had cooked her leg.

  15. Well, holy crap balls.

Okay, that Siouxsie song sounded like it should be a James Bond theme. It was amazing.

I have to admit I guffawed at Jack's face when he found the ruined escape plan. I mean, come on, Jack. Come on.

I was so worried for Will's pretty face but the stab wound didn't look too bad.

Well, luckily his murder husband is a doctor, so he'll get stitched up right proper.
