Exactly. I think Jill/Derick made the right choice, for so many reasons.

Jill and Jinger are being very wise not to depend on the future inheritance. Partly because JimBob isn't exactly 90 and teetering on the brink but mainly because as you say I would wonder how much money that would actually amount to in the fullness of time. He may be a shrewd investor sitting on millions - maybe - but even so split 19 ways it still isn't going to amount to an inheritance that would keep any of them on easy street.
Plus, if MEEEchelle dies at any time before JimBob, he's fathering as many more kids as he can. If God smites her dead tomorrow, JimBob has plenty of time to produce more spawn. They won't be fighting over 1/91th of an inheritance, more like 1/40th.

Does anyone think there's any chance that Jasper will be revealed to be the father of Hazel's baby?

Is Derick comparing how the J'kids were treated on 19 Kids and Counting to human trafficking?

So far, Derick is the only one who has expressed any criticism of Jim Bob and Meech. He took a mild, "we were lied to" swipe at them in the Dillard Official Statement, but none of the other J'kids/spouses has even hinted that JB and Meech did anything wrong. I would feel furious and used by my parents/in-laws in a similar situation.

I'm curious to know when Jill and Derick found out the severity of Josh's sexual assault on then five-year-old Jane Doe #4. Did they find out from pretrial motions (last month)? Did Derick just find out during Bobye Holt's trial testimony? I didn't get the impression that Jill knew she was lying in the 2015 Megyn Kelly interview when she, Jessa, JB, and Meech falsely minimized what Josh did in order to try to keep the family on TV. I would feel very angry at my parents if I knew they lied to me to get my support to protect a sexual predator and continue to enrich themselves.

Dillard Family Statement On Josh Duggar Verdict Today
QuoteToday was difficult for our family. Our hearts go out to the victims of child abuse or any kind of exploitation. We are thankful for the hard work of law enforcement, including investigators, forensic analysts, prosecutors, and all others involved who save kids and hold accountable those responsible for their abuse.
Nobody is above the law. It applies equally to everybody, no matter your wealth, status, associations, gender, race, or any other factor. Today, the people of the Western District of Arkansas made that clear in their verdict. As a Christian, we believe we are all equal at the foot of the cross, and, likewise, we are all equal under the law. Jesus warned his disciples, “…{B}eware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. Therefore, whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops.” (Luke 12:1-3).
Moreover, “[h]e who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the Lord.” (Proverbs 17:15). We have been lied to so much that we wanted to hear the evidence for ourselves in court. After seeing all the evidence as it was presented, we believe that the jury reached a just verdict today, consistent with the truth beyond a reasonable doubt.
Josh’s actions have rippled far beyond the epicenter of the offense itself. Children have scars, but his family is also suffering the fallout of his actions. Our hearts are sensitive to the pains Josh’s wife, Anna, and their seven children have already endured and will continue to process in the future. This trial has felt more like a funeral than anything else. Josh’s family has a long road ahead. We stand with them, we are praying for them, and we will seek to support them however we can during this dark time.

It's hard to find exact results with the trial, but there's articles where it's mentioned in early November.
... it may be a newer revelation only unveiled in earlier motions from this trial. But it wasn't freshly revealed in the testimony yesterday.
Thanks Zella. I hadn't seen the revelation before yesterday. I had long suspected it was true, but had never seen a confirmation, though I was looking. JB, Meech, and Josh are the absolute worst.

That was in the original police report. The Duggars never talked about it in the interview, but it was part of the release 6 years ago.
I read the police report in 2015 and did not see the accusation of penetration of at least one of his sisters in it. The report did describe the accusation of fondling two girls who were awake. So we knew back then that JB, MEEEchelle, Jill, and Jessa were lying on camera that Josh only inappropriately touched girls over-their-clothes, he confessed immediately, and the girls remained asleep.
I found an article in Salon from 2015 that also did not notice the accusation of penetration.
Quote"This is why I never use softening, minimizing language," Field writes. "I say assault and rape and abuse. And, if it comes to light that Josh digitally penetrated his victims, I’m going to start saying Joshua Duggar is a rapist."
I'm surprised that this new detail, if it is indeed new, isn't getting more notice. The severity of Josh's alleged sexual assaults was even worse than what we knew before.

From the People article:
QuoteAnd so in one evening conversation with Jim and Bobye, that is what Josh did, according to Bobye who testified that Josh shared more details about how he touched Jane Doe four in 2003. "When she was sitting on his lap he put his hand under her pantaloons and under her panties," said Bobye, who was crying and had to pause to gather herself, apologizing to the court.
Josh touched the girl outside and then inside her genitals, said Bobye, whose voice began to hitch.
This is the first time I have ever heard that Josh penetrated one of his sisters. Maybe I missed the revelation somewhere? I knew that JB, MEEchelle, Jill, and Jessa all lied in the Megyn Kelly interview that Josh only "inappropriately touched sleeping sisters over their clothes, without waking them up" because I read the redacted police report years ago. Megyn Kelly agreed to help the cover-up for her own reasons. But I don't remember the penetration detail being reported before.
What a horror that the Duggar girls were forced to forgive Josh and lie about his assaults in order to protect him and their parents' fortune and reputations.

I went in completely spoiler free. Jennifer Carpenter was the best thing in the episode. I liked seeing Dexter again like an old friend, but almost everything that happened was predictable. Not looking forward to anything Harrison related. Years ago, I hated that baby. We'll see...

Ben's shilling a Christian TV network on IG. Am I the only one that finds his voice grating?
Am I the only one that finds Ben's "me and my family" grating? Is he still a "teacher" for the SDRT?

This is very interesting. He breaks down just how many years Josh could serve when found guilty, or if he takes a plea. There's not much wiggle room with the feds.
Informative video. Josh sentencing is discussed from about the 6 minute mark through about minute 14.
This guy says that the federal minimum sentencing guidelines means that, if found guilty, Josh is facing from 12 - 20 years, which may be reduced if he takes a guilty plea before trial, or the judge is lenient for a reason that they have to justify.

Jack: No thank you. I'm good. The only thing I'm planning on doing today is drinking this Ensure. It's good for active seniors, but I think it should be good for active freshmen, too.Ensure isn't vegan, Jack!
Oh wait, he was just vegan for one episode. Never mind.

QuoteI understand Josh is still their son, but--just like every other piece of shit parent who chooses to protect the abuser over the victim--it's clear they don't give a flying fuck about those girls over their heir apparent/the person they choose to protect, and that makes me so mad I just about choke every time I think about it.
This is a rough transcript of part of the Megyn Kelly interview with Jim Bob and MEEchelle in 2015.
QuoteMegyn Kelly: As a parent did you feel guilty when you learned that the behavior had continued, and that other girls in the house had become victims?
JB: Yes, I think as parents you feel like a failure when one of your kids does something wrong, like, "If I had done more training, or maybe something else, that this wouldn't have happened." But the truth is that kids will make their own choices, and they will make their own decisions, even though you've taught them what's right and wrong.
MK: I'm asking more as the father of these girls, than as the father of Josh. It must have been very hard look at your little one and know that the behavior had been ongoing, as difficult as your position was.
JB: Right, I was so thankful though that Josh came and told us, and our girls, even though this was a bad situation, as we've talked to other families who have had other things happen, a lot of their stories were even worse.
Jim Bob and MEEchelle cared about protecting Josh and only Josh. The girls were an unimportant afterthought who should be grateful that it wasn't worse. I'm so angry on behalf of those girls, who are now all young women.

S00.E162: Wild Blue Yonder
in Doctor Who
I didn't understand Donna's saying "brainbox" proving she's human because people "can believe two completely different things at the same time." Does that term have two opposite meanings? Merriam-Webster says that a chiefly British definition is "a very intelligent person." Is it also slang for a stupid person in Britain?
I feel kind of stupid for not understanding this.
