And quite frankly, I do believe he is that irresponsible, although I guess I'm a little more surprised he did so when working, because they sure as hell weren't following the rules in the spring when cases kept climbing minute by minute with their "responsible parties" and whatever was going on with Aisha and the car park thing, whilst they had a kid with asthma in the house.

Yeah, same. It's not that I can't believe he would be this dumb, because he's shown that he is, but I am surprised that the was this dumb while he was working. I guess we don't have any proof that he did go to this party, but that seems like the most logical explanation. Although for the life of me I can't figure out why his wife decided to come out and say that she had it too and admit that she was in LA when she got it.

These idiots really do need to shell out for a publicist to save them from themselves. And if by some miracle they do have one, that person should be fired immediately.

Yeah, I don't think there's any photographic evidence of him being there, but the Page Six source says he "hosted" the party in Palm Springs. It sounds like it the source might be someone from the set of Heels, and I get why they'd be angry enough to go to the press if he did that and put the show at risk. I'd sooner believe that flew from Atlanta to PS than the the theory going around that EBR visited him in Atl and then spread it to PS -- which seems to be only based on a fan saying she saw him in Atl at a restaurant with his "wife" when Cassandra was in Vancouver (but I might be missing something).

I wasn't trying to sneak in some shipper theory about him getting sick from some clandestine meeting with Emily. Despite his history of asshole behavior, I would really like this one to be a coincidence.

I totally believe that he would (and did) fly in for his wife's birthday, because he's flat-out said that the pandemic was over for him and he's been traveling so I have no reason to believe that a quick weekend trip to an ill-advised party would be out of the question. I'm just surprised that he was somehow smart enough to not get caught considering a couple of the name-dropping Instagram happy people he surrounds himself with. And while I recognize that he's an idiot, I was kind of hoping that he wasn't the kind of stupid asshole to put the lives and livelihoods of his cast members and the crew at risk so he could fly out to a party that they have literally every year. Honestly I'm also kind of surprised that he'd have the audacity and the balls to do it and then claim publicly that his biggest fear was letting everyone down because he's #1 on the call sheet when surely he had to have known that someone from the show/network would catch wind of it and know that he had traveled? Guess not lol.

He must be pretty shaken by something behind the scenes with the network since Carina felt the need to remove her absolutely rich commentary about quarantining from her picture with Emily, considering she's been a well-documented COVIDiot throughout and his wife went on IG to give some dubious account about how she got it while talking around the fact that she had a party.

To make a long story short, fuck them all.

  3. Well, well, well, looks like they found out the hard way that preventative testing isn't a thing, no matter how much you try to tell yourself that you're being responsible so you can hang out with your frands.

Cassandra definitely had her yearly Casschella birthday party, and the JAR are a bunch of idiots, not only for throwing/going to a party during a pandemic, but also for being dumb enough to post pictures of themselves there so that people could put 2+2 together.

Everyone involved and who went are stupid, awful assholes and I seriously hope that their stupid, awful asshole behavior doesn't wind up getting anyone killed. Carina swore that they didn't expose anyone when she posted about being sick, but I don't trust her, so...

I also hope Stephen coincidentally got sick at the same time and wasn't irresponsible enough to travel to a dumbass party and spread it to who even knows how many people in transit to/from, especially when he would've been going back to a set full of people (and crew that doesn't have the money/insurance he has) but that seems like exactly the kind of thing he'd do.

Ok, I don't get this. KC needed to pull it back after going for it *because* apathy is the opposite of love? If she was really going for it (which she did) why did he want her to pull it back and be less hate filled in that case? Does he mean she was supposed to play the layers so we see the love there as well? I mean I completely believed Laurel hated him in that moment, and I think it was called for after what happened. The actual problem is that they had no chemistry in fight scenes or in the scenes where they were supposed to bond/still be  in the same episode. And the last part was also part of the problem.

Yeah, his reasoning for telling her to pull back makes absolutely no sense.

And I also believed she actually hated him. Like legit, rage-filled, burning hatred, and not the fun kind where there's some sizzling attraction underneath and you just know they want to bang it all out. Granted, it would've been difficult to play that because there was an allegedly dead sister in the mix (although a sister on the periphery is a feature not a bug of Oliver and Lance girls' relationships). Yet another way they set Lauriver up to fail with a backstory that should've been thrown in that garbage can (but I am also glad they didn't do that, LOL).

Whu? There are no theme parks open. The camping parks are barely open.

To be fair he said that when it seems like he was planning on staying here in the US because our theme parks are open for the most part. I just included it because the gist of the commentary from him was that he was done with quarantine and wanted to get back to his regularly scheduled life programming and it seems like he went somewhere that was closer to that than he can get here since disease is rampant and LA is closing down again.

Is he doing it for his family?  BC is doing great, Ontario not so much but it's still better than California.

He mentioned being done with quarantine and wanting to go out to eat and take Mavi to a theme park and whatnot, so I think he’s just going somewhere he can do that, although I think it being any better here in a month is a pipe dream. He waxed poetic about what his life would be like in Canada a podcast or two ago, so maybe he’ll just stay up there and come back when it’s safe, since he’s privileged enough to be able to do that.

Amell really thought he needed to tweet out a picture of poop on his roof to his millions of followers? Really made him feel better to have people take it in since he had to?

Yeah, I don't really know what the point of posting the picture was unless he thought people wouldn't believe him without photo proof.

I'm surprised he doesn't seem to have any kind of security at his home and I'm also surprised that this is the first time someone's taken a dump on his property.

  8. Of course he can't just understand that these Black men and women being murdered by police is wrong without relating it back to his kid being in a situation that she won't ever have to be in because she's privileged in a way that Stephen refuses to admit that she (and he, and a lot of us) are privileged. I guess it's good he's not being a belligerent dickhead about it in this one post, but he doesn't have a great track record with sticking to these epiphanies he has. Chances are high that he walks it back in a podcast, if history is any indication.

He does have a job - he got hired as a lead on a show on Starz. It was supposed to start filming in March but got delayed because of the COVID shutdown.

That being said, I fully expect him to continue being a mess, because he doesn't seem to be open to the possibility that he could possibly be wrong about anything.

For the record, Toronto is racist, as she said, although not as bad as some places. SA went to a preppy boys school so he would have been insulated from seeing it.

Wouldn't going to a preppy boy's school generally make it more likely he would've seen racism in action?

    Quote

Apart from you know, every other reason why he should have thought twice or 10 times before what he said initially and how he responded to people, he's going to have to be careful otherwise this might end up costing him jobs in an already very uncertain time if it picks up steam.

Agreed. But if he hasn't learned already that he needs to not be such a combative asshole when he replies to people who are calling him out, I don't think he will until he faces some kind of actual repercussions from it apart from being "canceled," which isn't actually a thing. But repercussions would probably make him even MORE combative, haha.

  11. He's such a condescending, tone-deaf asshole. He simply doesn't possess the capacity for self-reflection or the ability to admit that he could possibly be wrong about something. He doesn't want to better understand anything, he's not replying in good faith, and anyone who takes the time to try and teach him will likely be thanked by him admitting on a douchebag podcast a year or so later that he was definitely always right and regretted even engaging.

His ~friends indulging in his victim complex have only made his worst impulses worse.

They talked A LOT about the looting and ended the show on that, which made it seem like they cared more about damaged property than damaged humans. SA said that he was thinking about grabbing some neighbors and standing outside the mom & pop convenience store down the street from him to protect it from looters. Drew said it was unlikely the protests would reach the Hollywood Hills.

He does care more about the property than the people. Anyone who is ever able to get through to him and change his mind about anything should probably become a crisis negotiator.

    Quote

They also suggested viewers leave links and resources for places to donate/learn more in the comments, as it seems like they didn't think to do research and include any of that before filming.

I don't think they really care enough to do that much research. Maybe Drew wants to, but Stephen doesn't. I think he's only saying something now because he was tired of being called out for not.

    Quote

Drew mentioned that his wife had cried a couple of times over the weekend and SA said that his wife had too and she "doesn't want to make it a pity party but she's really bummed out"

Were protestors blocking her favorite brunch spot or what? I truly don't believe any of these people are bummed out about anything other than being inconvenienced and/or worry about their property, since Stephen's wife at least used to be invested in quite a few businesses in LA (no idea if she still is or not), and he seems to be super concerned about that.

Meanwhile, this is how KC ends racism after her followers pressured her to say something. Paint the hashtag on the wall of your safe and secure million dollar house. In awe of her courage and her strength.

Apart from the general uselessness of the gesture, the upshot angle of her ass for the whole thing adds yet another layer of bad taste.

And now that he seems prepared to talk about it today, I wish he'd have chosen a black guest who's voice he could amplify instead of Grant Gustin (who, to be fair to GG, has been posting about it all weekend).

To be honest, I really don't think he cares enough to amplify a voice that isn't his own. He said the other day that he doesn't feel qualified to speak on the issue, even though you don't have to be an expert to understand that systemic racism is wrong and say so - but despite not thinking he's qualified, he's gonna chime in anyway.

His silence has definitely been pretty loud, especially considering - like you wrote - almost all of his Jar friends have spoken out. And Carina, who name drops him at every opportunity, left him out of all the BLM posts she made where she tagged other high-profile people. After his not all Texans!!1! BS and subsequent breakdown and regret over his apology, some of his other questionable racial stuff, and the fact that he's married to someone who bought toned-down All Lives Matter merch and gave it to her friends...I really don't think this is an issue that he cares about much, if at all. I fully expect his opinion to be a complete shitshow, although I hope he surprises me!

  15. He's pretty tone-deaf. Between the thousands of dollars buy in for his auction during a time of massive unemployment and complaining about his gardener being too noisy the other day, I seriously doubt it would've ever occurred to him to treat today as anything but normal (which is probably is for him and is probably for the best given his history of social commentary lol).

Did he mean the "prelude to a big break" blog that we used to discuss? Last time I checked he'd taken it down. I remember his writing was ok on that, nothing special but serviceable and interesting seeing him talking about auditions and frustrations before Arrow. Lots of titbits about a pre famous Italia and Robbie as well. Though it was definitely less gossipy than some clips of an old vlog he apparently did.

Yeah, I actually enjoyed most of his blog and thought he was an okay writer? He had a good voice from what I can remember before he wiped it. He also came off like less of a douchebag then than he does now so maybe bringing someone else in would've helped with that, haha. I think canceling a book about fatherhood was probably a good idea, because at that point he was still relatively new at it and from what I can tell had and still has a nanny around most of the time? Doesn't seem like he could meaningfully contribute anything on the subject, but that's never stopped anyone before.

I got an email from Cedars-Sinai last week because a few of my doctors practice there, and found the below interesting. He keeps touting the antibody tests they've taken, but looks like they aren't as reliable as he thinks. But whatever, I hope his kid stays safe and healthy.

I find him elaborating on it pretty funny because if you're following guidelines and being responsible and not putting other people at risk, have at it. No need to post about your meaningless negative tests or anything. The only reason people took issue with what he was doing before was because he WASN'T being responsible or following guidelines and he was lying about it because he for whatever reason just had to post what he was doing on social media. I hope Mavi stays healthy and has a great time at Six Flags.

He said he made a deal with a publishing house and had started working with someone "because obviously I'm not going to write it myself -- which in and of itself rubs me the wrong way because I don't want someone to ghostwrite it. But then I just decided to pull the plug because I'm not an author." He mentioned that it was about fatherhood and he only had one kid who was only three at the time so he didn't entirely feel like an expert. Near the end of the chat he said that a bunch of commenters were bringing up the blog he used to write and saying he was underestimating his writing talent. He kind of laughed that off and said he might have to go back and read that blog, but it tends to be cringe-worthy at this point.

    Thank you!

I'm glad that he was talking about his previous deal because I was thinking...who is lining up to get this guy to write a book? LOL

SA did a FB Live yesterday and said he'd do another one today, but honestly with everything that's going on in the US right now I can't imagine he will (unless he plans to address it).

I can imagine it. He's either going to completely ignore it or say something stupid - I would be honestly and pleasantly surprised if he addressed it any kind of meaningful way that didn't end with him throwing a tantrum, apologizing and leaving social media for a break, and then coming back and doubling down about not being sorry about whatever dumbass thing he said, lol. Maybe in the time since his last social media drama he's grown a little bit and will skip one of the previous steps.

Curious about the reasoning behind him pulling the plug on his book, but not enough to actually listen to him talk about it. He allegedly pulled the plug on some other book deal too, didn't he? Or maybe he's talking about the same one.

I'm glad he's being somewhat honest (apart from the lies about his responsible social distancing in the past) about intending to go out and about with life as usual and am not at all surprised that he's going to run out immediately and take his daughter to a theme park, although I think he's in for a rude awakening about how long he's going to have to wait for a ride. I think it's funny that he went on that useless tangent about his wife testing negative and everyone being asymptomatic - none of that matters? You can be negative one day and positive the next, especially when you're out and about going to restaurants and theme parks. But I guess it was a checkbox on his justification for just getting on with his life, since he's probably going to start posting pics and whatnot and wanted to address his reasoning beforehand.

It would've been better to do this on Omaze or something so that everyone has a shot at it and they could raise more money. It's a real boneheaded idea to launch something that at the start is already out of reach for most people, especially now. It's kind of amazing that something can be charitable AND tone deaf at the same time, lol.

It wasn’t my intention to enumerate every single negative thing everyone did in my original post. EBR tried to help SA with his technical issues but she also teased him about it as much as as everyone else and even said “we can play without him.” When I watched it my first reaction was (and continues to be) that they all had some eyebrow-raising moments, but overall SA had more than the rest and a generally petulant attitude, especially for a charity event. YMMV.

I just noticed that whenever Cassandra was criticized for something you replied noting something that someone else did - it seemed as if you wanted to even the score because you think she's unfairly criticized by a certain group of people on Twitter, and were calling me out as if I was intentionally glossing over Emily and Aisha's reaction just to go after Cassandra. I'm perfectly happy to call anyone out on their behavior if I see it!

I don't really have much of an opinion on the behavior on the stream because I only watched about 3 minutes of it. I watched Cassandra's bat-eating joke because I saw some people mention it on Twitter and thought it probably wasn't as bad as it was being portrayed and was surprised that I found it worse (which is probably why I didn't notice the reactions to it). I saw Stephen being frustrated by some teasing because he didn't really understand the game they were playing. My only comment on it was that it didn't seem to help his attitude, which is true no matter who was participating.

I don't really watch any of this stuff because I find Stephen to be all too happy to overshare asshole stories on his own, and I find him and his wife being antagonistic to each other unbearable.

  21. 43 minutes ago, Trisha said:

I thought it was racist and terrible. Sorry if that wasn’t clear enough. I also thought it was terrible that EBR and AT laughed at it. That probably deserves a callout too.

Yes, thank you for bringing it to my attention - I would've gone back and looked if you'd mentioned this awfulness in your original post. I missed it when I watched it because I thought she was laughing at something Aisha said in the background. But she said she was going to make that joke too, and in addition to Aisha, Stephen laughed as well, so we have a whole round of racist garbage reactions. Now everyone is properly chastised for their trash. 😊
