I do have to say it again, the Bates Family sure seems to enjoy life much more than the Duggars.

I agree so much.  I like to see Gil and Kelly be affectionate to each other( and their kids)  .  They love being in love.  All the family is much more loving than the Duggers.

WTF is up with this  "Henry Tudor's Seventh Wife: Methinks I'm Hawt" look?

I agree. I also think the Jayne persona lacks all joy - her schtick is calculated and measured and dry-as-sand.  She's no happy (public) vulgarian, glorying in boundary-breaking (frex Mae West) she's a sad little mouse of a thing desperate for attention. And her "act" lacks any mental energy (which this kind of performance needs, imo,  to not feel like a late afternoon shift at Scores). She's all tit, no wit.

I am sorry but with that ugly pink eye shadow she looks like she has a really bad case of pink eye

I'm really liking Teddy so far too. Things can change, of course, but aside from a few slightly annoying comments I've found her very refreshing. She's probably my favorite new addition of the last few years. I kind of like Dorit, but I've always sat on the fence with her and have continued to this season as well. I certainly prefer Teddy to the recently exited housewives Kim, Eileen, and Eden. We'll see if I continue to feel this way as the season continues.

I like her too. She seems very down to Earth and grounded .  I know she did not grow up in the Midwest but you can tell that she was exposed to those values growing up.

Ugh. I wanted to like this show enough to add it to my increasingly vapid TLC rotation, but this douchelord has single-handedly ruined it for me. Filing suit against the hospital for keeping a baby for one more night that they deem at-risk? Does he not want his baby to be healthy or what? *Plenty* of people have to leave their babies at the hospital for a hell of a lot longer than a couple of nights. They would do well to keep in mind that some parents don't get to bring their babies home-- ever. Why didn't she sleep in the hospital with the baby? No hospital in this nation would have stopped her/them from doing so. And Doug, you're tired?! He reminds me so much of my ex-husband who stood over my hospital bed nine hours into the birth of my daughter literally AS I pushed and said that he was going to have to "get going if this didn't start to move along." Mars, girlfriend, you made your own bed with your litigious hunk o' man there.

These two remind me of how much I admire nurses. They aren't paid enough to deal with this bullshit.

I work  in  a Hospital and you would be very supersized on the tests (some are required by state law ) that parents refuse to have done on their new born.  I don't have kids and it just does not make sense to me.  Kinda of sad, you ever know what  the baby might develop down the road  and could have prevented or treated if these tests would have been done.

  5. I am glad to hear that everything came out OK . I was so happy to see that they had the baby in the hospital and used pain meds. I don't have kids but I know my family members all had some type of help with dealing with the pain . I can't remember did Whitney Bradley in the hospital ?

  6. I did not know the new season had started so I am watching it on demand . I am up to the visit to Chicago. I loved seeing that they do not do the side hug thing. Also I that Michael had her arm resting on Brandon;s leg while they were sitting in the lobby of the hotel . They seemed like a normal dating couple.

  7. Im from the west suburbs ( Elmhurst area) and its common to just say Chicago or Chicago area to people non-familiar because there is a HUGE difference between Northwest Suburbs/West Suburbs than like Peoria. IL is a big state, lol

If her family was from like Homer Glenn I would give you far away suburb or Morris or something...but Palatine really isn't THAT far from the city. If you can take the metra to the city you really aren't super far. Its not Lincoln Park or the Loop but Ill give Bravo a pass on saying Chicago.

If I am out of town and talking to people from IL- if they say they are from Chicago- I just assume either the city or Chicago suburbs, personally. However obviously talking to someone here I don't tell a Palatine resident  I am from Chicago when I am actually in West Suburbs.

I am from Waukegan and if I am asked where I am from I say the far Northern suburbs near the ILL/WIS boarder . If they know the area they may ask where. I believe if I remember right Vickie is from Cary which is maybe North/West of Chicago .

  8. What has always bothered me about this family is the lack of laughter.  The kids did not know the word"gag" except as possibly puking.  There is no laughter here really, no humor but a sadness about them with the constant Jesus this and that.  And I'm Christian.  Where is the joy in their lives?

You know I never noticed that before. That is what I love about the Bates. They laugh and enjoy life..  We have a Pastor at our Church who brings humor into his sermons . You have to have humor no matter how religious you are..

  9. OK, someone help me out here....

Why was Kathryn dressed like an old school marm? The hair....the collar necklace Shep was poking at....if she knew Thomas was going to announce his candidacy, did she think that was the look to be standing beside him for the throng of reporters that never showed? You know she wasn't dressed for a proposal. She'd have had her strumpet outfit on for that, right? With a ton of mascara.

I was thinking the same thing. The hair pulled back and the high neck blouse made her look so much older. Not a very becoming look for someone in her 20's ..

  10. The Bates family are so much more loving and caring with each other. I find that so heart warming. If it was not for the religion lifestyle I could see my hubs and I being friends with them. Loved the way the kids all helped each other and look out for each other. They all  have genuine care and concern for each other.   I am so glad that they will be back for another season.

  11. I happy that Toma won. I was pulling for him or Sonya. Both are Chicago area. I have been in Sonya's place 40 years old and not really have ever dated all that much. I am so happy that Jordan won the at home prize. I am so glad that  Blake did not win. Scott  and Matt  looked amazing . I agree about some of the dresses and how some of the players did not loose all that much .. Wonder what the "theme" for next season is gong to be..

  12. One thing I noticed is that Kellie said they are usually running late, but she didn't brag about it the way the Duggars seem to do.  This family seems so much more normal to me than the Duggars--relaxed, truly loving, and fun loving as well.

Gosh I so agree with you.. They seem like a " normal loving family"  ..

  13. I just like Kelly and Gil They just seem so much more involved and loving to the kids than Michelle and JB do.. I don't think I have heard the "buddy" system with the Bates.. Love that the kids all have outside interest, jobs and that the kids are able to education  ( I belive I read that some place ) beyond the home schooling.

  14. I was only half watching....did Josie sing the Star Spangled Banner, or did I dream it?

If so, my theory about the mix-up at the fertility clinic and her being the bio-spawn of Art Garfunkel is true.

She did a pretty good job, I was impressed.. She did a lot better then some of singers I have heard sing it..LOLO -Art Garfunkel .

  15. There is one thing that I noticed about Daya does not have much of an accent. I know that they teach English in the schools, but she should still have some kind of accent I would think. Wonder if she has lived in the States at some point?
