Huh, i do not get the love for this version of Quicksilver. I thought that scene in DoFP was horribly cheesy. I never got why people proclaimed it best scene eva!

The running sequence at the Pentagon?  While it was heavy on the cheese, I thought it was visually stunning (and the only thing I liked about Days of Future Past).

They didn't flesh out Steve more, they should have added a flash back scene about Peggy and Bucky, it would have helped us understand why he was holding on to that world more. How much their loss motivated him.

I don’t think Steve was/is “holding on that world” nor was he motivated by the “loss” of Peggy and/or Bucky; I think Steve is motivated by loyalty, integrity, and a sense of justice.  You didn’t need a flashback with Peggy and/or Bucky; it's been established since The First Avenger that Steve Rogers is an extremely loyal guy with a ton of integrity.

Personally, I think flashbacks would have bogged down the storyline.

Why would Clint come out and help Steve?  He announced his retirement to avoid having to deal with the Accords.  What was his motivation?  Or is he like Tony and secretly doesn't want to stop?

I think Clint's main reason was to help spring Wanda who was under house arrest.

And in enraging news, why did no one die? So they wouldn't get back together and be in one piece when Thanos turns up. I'm sorry, I thought I was paying to watch one movie, not three. Especially when the next part is two years away. If you make a good enough movie, the audience will come back. Do they really not trust their audience that much? Considering how terrible Doctor Strange looks at this point, I think I'm out.

Honestly, I see all MCU movies as building to The Infinity Wars so I don't expect complete resolution to most issues until then.

This movie dealt the ramifications of the Avengers’ previous actions, the Accords, and the mind games played by Zemo – which all lead to the eventual splintering of the Avengers team as we knew it.   I do not believe it was ever the intention of the film makers to resolve the central issue as it is pretty irresolvable; I’m fine with that as it makes perfect sense to me.  That’s how it goes with groups/families sometimes, something comes up that causes a huge division; you stay divided for years; and then something comes along that makes you put aside your differences for the greater good.

I knew this was Marvel's plan since they announced a Phase Two (and then Three) so it doesn't really bother me since we have Dr. Strange to look forward to in November.

Steve's face when he found out who Sharon was--priceless. The whole funeral sequence other than that was heartbreaking.

I love, love, love the fact that the Sharon’s eulogy (taken word from word from a speech Cap gives Spidey) is used to reinforce Steve’s belief.

Just got back and loved it. Tony and Steve fighting was hard to watch at points, they really went for it. Especially loved the introduction of Spidey and the Black Panther's arc.

What got the biggest reaction from the audience was anything Spider-Man and

    Giant Man!

Just FYI; there are two end credits scenes. I heard somewhere there was only one. Decided to wait until the end just in case and caught it. Just in case others were only expecting one as well so they don't miss it.

I saw the film this weekend - I can now safely venture into social media (I was so afraid of being spoiled).

During our screen, the cheers for Spiderman started when the title card "Queens" showed up.

I think the loudest cheer/gasp was for that awesome motorcycle stunt (the one where Bucky grabs the bike as it goes by him).

I'm glad I saw the movie when I did - the audience was very engaged and vocal (in a good way) which made the experience so much more enjoyable.

Most of Steve's "Secret Avengers" don't have solo properties going forward so the impact of this film will be negligible on them, but I do wonder what this means for the next Ant-Man film (incidentally, Scott fit very well into the group, though given that in the comics he's so closely connected to Tony Stark it still felt kind of weird to see him on Cap's team in the film).

I think that's why you Hank Pym say he didn't trust Stark in the Ant-man film - maybe it was to pave the way for Ant-man to join Team Cap??

I did love Ant-man fan-boying over Captain America - becuase honestly, wouldn't we all?

I really wish Sharon had Natasha's role in Winter Soldier so they could build their relationship more, but even if she was downgraded to a minor character I still liked her. I mean, she stood with the SHIELD tech guy and saved him from Brownlow. That's worthy of caring about

But I guess I'm in the minority because of my fondness for Emily VanCamp -- who does not deserve the crap she's been getting from angers shippers and trolls on social media. I just hope the Russos give her more buildup in Civil War and Avengers: Infinity Wars.

I think Emily Van Camp is fine as Sharon Carter and I'm fine with her portrayal of the character.  I thought she and Chris Evans sparked during the few scenes they had in Winter Solider (especially the hallway scene).  Honestly, I see more romantic spark between Sharon Carter and Cap then Black Widow and Cap, so I’m fine with how it all played out.

I, for one, buy the fact that Steve and Sharon would try to steal a kiss; wildly inappropriate timing and all – and (for me) it was worth it just to see the high school boy reactions of Bucky and Falcon.

I don't know much of the details of Arnold, but I like how he essentially seems to be going traitor over furniture. It's just so petty. Yeah, dude, they're totally just refusing to pay you. Not that the shoestring government is basically worthless.

For the most part, the characterization of Benedict Arnold is the one thing the show gets right; he was bitter about not being paid or having his contributions to the war effort acknowledged; he felt “entitled” to the biggest house and the best war contraband as is “due;” he was entirely smitten with Peggy Shippen and was motivated to “provide” for her; and he had a huge ego.  I only hope that the show indicates that Peggy was an active participant in Arnold turning traitor; stoking his bitterness and setting up the meetings with André.

I do NOT like how the show makes it seem like Peggy is turning on Arnold because of her tu wuv for André (while it was true that she had a relationship with him, it is also true that she tossed him over once the Colonial Forces re-captured Philadelphia).

  9. Yea for the return of Townsend.

I know the show needs to ramp up the drama - but really, NO ONE knew about the Culper ring members for decades - but to have everyone and their uncle know about Able and the spy ring is just stupid.  You could have created that tension by just letting daddy Woodhall and Rogers know the truth about Abe.

Still, so far this season seems loades better than the ending of season two (which was good for the first half).

It was also odd to hear Coulson talking about not letting their emotions get the better of them when it comes to Daisy, even though that is literally what he has been doing the whole time. Not that hypocrisy is a new thing for him. Man, if Gregg wasn't so much fun to watch Coulson would probably be thoroughly unlikable.

Oh, that annoyed me to no end; plus the fact he called her one of his "best" agents.  Really?  After less than two years, Daisy is one of your best?  When you have the likes of Bobbi, Mae, and Mack around?  No wonder S.H.I.E.L.D. gets its arsed whipped on a regular basis.

And of course Mack had to say that Daisy was "special" and "strong enough" to resist Hive's mind whammy.  And dude, I get she's your partner (for all of five minutes) and you feel responsible for not seeing her conversion to the Hive collective; still you don't deal with a mentaly unstable, mind whammied, earth shaking, girl with authority issues unarmed.  Especially after she choked out Fitz.

Lincoln, just when I think you hit the bottom of the idiot barrel, you manage to scrape some more idiot into your actions

What is with Hive's/Brett's accent this week?? Ugh, it was taking me right out of the show. I think a stronger actor could have carried the Ward/TraitorWard/Hive gig, but I don't think Brett is carrying Hive well.

God I hope Shield takes him out next week. I cannot handle another season if Hiiiiiiiiiiiive.

Honestly, I think Dalton is trying to make the best out of the craptastic dialog he's given; and to me, he's the strongest actor in the series.  While the writing hasn't allowed him to showcase it much lately, he does have more than one expression.

Agreed that the Theon thing is odd.  He doesn't want to be forgiven and believe he deserves his punishment.  Great, then escort Sansa to the Wall and then accept that Jon will kill you.  Hell, I thought he was going to ask Brienne to behead him.  It would have worked since Oathkeeper is made from Ned's old greatsword.  But apparently Theon doesn't want to die.  Theon will no doubt make the Iron Islands stuff more interesting but I always liked him interacting with the Starks a lot more.

For the record, the current Iron Islands storyline is already a lot better than the entire Dorne storyline.

I suppose one could say that Theon feels death is too good for him; that he has to live with the torment, guilt, and knowledge of all the wrongs he has committed and that he needs to spend the rest of his life making amends (though he never can).

This is what bothers me too. Davos and SHireen had one of the closest relationships in the whole show, but Davos hasn't even acknowledged her death (or Stannis's really) and is all about Jon for some reason. It makes no sense

While I think Davos would have wanted to see Shireen again, he sees the big picture and realizes that the realm's best chance of surviving the Others and White Walkers is Jon and his ability to unite the Wildings.

To me, it makes perfect sense that he's willing to (temporarily) put aside his distrust/dislike of Melisandre for the good of the realm.

If Jon on the show warged into ghost that the show did a terrible job setting that up

The show has shown Jon warging before; he had "dreams" and there were the conversations with the Wilding who could warg (Skinwalker, Skinchanger - something like that - at times I get names and timelines mixed up).  My friends who haven't read the book thought that Jon warged into Ghost and then back into his own body.

I think that we've seen so much of Ghost is becuase Jon warged into Ghost so he was only mostly dead not not most sincerely dead - and when the magical sponge bath happened, Jon left Ghost and became Jon again.

Well, that's the story I'm writing in my head anyway.  =)

Paige is just so much better than the other three female celebs and it showed badly.

And still I find that I can't warm up to her - I'm not surprised she's technically proficient and picks up choreography well/quickly, she does have years of dance training (albeit it NOT ballroom) which gives her a huge advantage.

I found her routine technically strong yet devoid of joy – I can’t quite figure out what it is about her that is a bit off-putting; I don’t actively dislike her nor do I find myself looking forward to her routines.

    9 hours ago, RedFiat said:

And as far as I know, there has been no hiding of her dance background. Unlike some performers in the past, her Wiki page clearly states her dance experience.

But the show never mentions her extensive dance background - much like they hid Riker's dance background.

I am looking forward to an explosion of hexenbeist activity.  I think once Adaline re-establishes her relationship with Diana that things could get really interesting.  I predict that Adaline and Diana will help bring down Black Claw, but Adaline will sacrifice herself in the process for Diana/Kelly/Nick.  Then Juliette will step in to help raise Diana and there we have the new Grimm family.

Why?  What is wrong with being confident?

I hated everything about this episode - I thought nearly all the dances were lackluster.  I'd rather the show let the pros choreography their own routines rather than force them to use/copy other work.

I was glad to see Lincoln as a distinct character without being saddled doing the schmoopy shit with Daisy. Her betrayal will be enough, I hope, to scotch that boring romance, because how can any of them trust her again like they did before? I know I couldn’t. Of course, breaking them up also opens the door for Lincoln to be the “fallen agent”…As long as it’s not Mack, he’s been through enough loss this season, show!

Oy, "Fallen Agent" had me rolling my eyes - everything about it was so bad.

This show has lost its mojo - I don't know what happened; it started off horrible, steadily improved, and this season seems to be a huge drop in quality.  I don't know if I can stick with the series for one/two good episodes per season (and frankly, I doublt that this season's payoff can make up for the mess they created).

  22. The final trailer:

The effects look great.  And for those complaining that Wolverine was not in it, here he is -- that's bait the schmucks, even though it's just a cameo.

So Mystique is not only recruiting new mutants into the ranks, she’s training them, planning battles, and giving motivational speeches – alrighty then.

MCU's Quicksilver can't mention Mutants or Magneto

Huh, I really, really thought they were going to skip Wolverine in this movie...damn.

I'd take Wolverine over Mystique (I do not like what this round of movies is doing to her characterization).

  23. Inhumans has been pulled off release schedule -- it's not clear if it's being postponed or killed entirely.

Eh, I don't care about the Inhumans. They're kind of lame, and I don't really see any stories about them that won't replicate some parts of the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. And if that story that Vin Diesel was slated to play Black Bolt is true, then I'm fine with it being axed.

I'm much more interested in Captain Marvel and the still slight prospects of a Black Widow movie.

That's a shame, I was looking forward to seeing a proper treatment of the Inhumans (and not the garbage on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) - their Marvel Knight run (1998) is still one of my favorites.

Black Widow doesn't interest me, especially as she's written for the screen - and I find her barely tolerable in the comics.

Now, Captain Marvel - that I could get behind.

Inhumans would be a tough one. With the perfect director and the perfect actor for Black Bolt it could be awesome. But without getting the perfect people for those jobs having a main character that doesn't speak could be bad.

Isn't this true for just about every Marvel movie?  Think of what a mess Ant-man could have been without the pitch perfect casting of Paul Rudd.
