See, I would have expected him to go to his uncle Leo for this type of advice, but I guess Leo was busy in his own story.

I'm not sure if I learned that Wikipedia-ing or watching old clips, but Shane and Dipi have a son named Jay who I believe is off at boarding school.  I thusly figured he was the oldest, but Dipi mentioned in her talk with Mishti that her first pregnancy was with Yashvi.

I actually think that's a smart thing international soaps do, plant another family member off-screen for them to bring in later if they need to.

I am fairly sure they have mentioned Jay on the show before, back when the family first arrived. I also thought Jay was the oldest, and so did whoever made this thread: https://forums.digitalspy.com/discussion/2245794/jay-rebecchi-neighbours. I remember it always seemed to me like Yashvi and Kirsha were only about 2 years apart when they first joined the show, but somehow they are now 4 years apart. I wonder if they originally had Jay being the oldest and then decided that Yashvi should be closer in age to Ben (since she had storylines with him), and Kirsha should be Jimmy's age, and then they slotted Jay in between. Jimmy's age also doesn't make sense to me, because I seem to recall that when he joined the show in June 2015, he was supposed to be 9, but now he is somehow in Year 8. The actor is 13 though, so I think maybe they just aged him a bit to fit in with how old he appears to be, and to make him the same age as Kirsha. They did something similar with Ben, because he is somehow 18 already, even though he was supposedly a super genius who accelerated through high school, and Libby gave birth to him in the final episode of 2001.

    - Why did Jimmy go to Toadie for advice on his crush?  I couldn't work out what the connection was with those two.

The only thing I can think of (apart from Jimmy not having many good male role models in his life to choose from) was that there was that storyline a little while ago where Amy liked Toadie while he was separated from Sonya, and Toadie was probably hanging around Jimmy a lot. Either that, or Ryan Moloney hadn't fulfilled his scene quota for the week, so they needed to use him for something. :P

I found Izzy's bad girl antics very entertaining yesterday - swapping snark with Paul and crumbling up his brochure and beaning him with it, her fake smile (and Susan's) sliding off her face the minute the hotel door closed between them, her breezy dismissal of Mark, her bringing up Dee/Andrea with Toadie (and I've watched a bunch of that on YT, it's so soapy and great!) and saying she admired her moxie, even her casual "Alright, ya got me!" attitude when Karl and Susan busted her.

I also found Mark's sincere remorse about the accident with Gabe very refreshing because I feel like that's something you'd never see on a US soap, that kind of naked emotional maturity from a leading male.

But, ugh, the Rafael stuff is so boring, I was bummed every time the show went back to it.

Completely agree with everything you said. I loved Izzy yesterday!

Go Holly, that was Izzy like manipulation of Izzy.  Pity she didn't tell Karl and Susan what Izzy did though imo.

But Holly still has nothing to lose. She tricked Izzy into signing over the money, but there is nothing actually stopping her from telling Karl and Susan what Izzy did. I guess she could be worried that they'll have to move away if she tells them, so she's probably just waiting to see if the baby actually starts growing. Totally ridiculous plot though, even for Neighbours. :P

That new guy is behaving so weird and nobody is noticing.  And what is up with people pressuring David to connect with him and David going back after he was weird?

I thought the reason the new guy (I think he told David his name was Rafael?) was watching Amy, Leo, and David was because he knew that they're Paul's kids, but then he acted all shocked when Sheila told him that David is Paul's son. I didn't really understand what that was about. Maybe he only knew about Amy being Paul's daughter and that's why he was watching the three of them? I guess that would make sense, since he was also spying on Amy and Paul at the worksite. It was all a bit confusing.

It was the hotel's uniform. (I probably missed this, but did they mention why she's not working at the spa anymore?)

Are they ever going to pick up the Dee/Andrea storyline?

Oh! Makes sense. I did think it didn't really look like her school uniform. Thanks. Was Xanthe leaving the spa related to bad publicity Terese got when she accused Courtney of sleeping with her clients?

  7. There seemed to be something that didn't make sense in today's episode: Gary walked into the house after Ben and Xanthe had slept together, and Terese showed him Xanthe's school uniform to distract him, and then Gary left to go buy the pie, and then when he came home, Xanthe told him that she was going back to school, and he acted all surprised like it was the first he'd heard of it.

Lol at the Brennans suddenly becoming the only people in the street who don't own the boat. Seemed a bit weird that no one brought up the fact that the boat doesn't even work properly.

I still think it is totally ooc for Mark to tamper with evidence again.

Glad Paul and Courtney didn't get married, he did the right thing for once but tough on her.

I thought it was ooc for Toadie to be such a d.ck at the auditions too, that was much more Karl's speed imo.

I think it made some sort of sense when he explained that above all he just refused to let Tyler down again. (Although I would argue that he's letting him down more by teaching him that lying about something so serious is okay.) I liked how he also acknowledged that it's about time he got fired, because in real life, Mark (and Ellen) would defs have been kicked out of the force ages ago.

Yeah, that was nice of Paul, although he shouldn't have gone along with the idea in the first place.

And yeah, I agree about Toadie behaving more like Karl. Especially the bit where he didn't even let Xanthe audition.

Oh my goodness, I didn't think Mark could get any more stupid, but then he has that conversation with Paige and totally doesn't get it.

I bet that at the time when Mark destroyed evidence for Sonya, we all thought it was a writer fail because it was totally out of character for him to do that after arresting Paige on their wedding day. So it's interesting that now the writers (well, possibly different writers) have turned that fail into an actual storyline, where Paige is upset by the inconsistency. Good save. :P

Heh well Sheila thought Gary had done it so they are even really.

Yeah, but to be fair, Gary has bashed people and been in gaol multiple times, whereas the worst Sheila has done is yell at people and I think maybe she slapped someone once. It would've been pretty crazy if she had murdered Hamish.

I wonder what Gary and Sheila are covering up.

The other day when you posted this, I was about to reply and say that I thought they were just nervous because they'd interfered with the crime scene and they thought it'd look dodgy, but then I couldn't remember whether I knew that from watching the show or from reading spoilers, so I didn't write it. And I totally didn't realise that Gary and Sheila were supposed to be hiding things from the viewers as opposed to just the other characters, although your post made me wonder if I'd misunderstood. And now it turns out that they did alter the crime scene, but they also did think they were hiding more than that. I still can't work out whether the viewers already knew that Gary did that or if I just read it somewhere.

Imo Amy was way out of line and I totally get Steph's response in not being able to trust her any more.  How was Steph expecting to live though financially, was she going to draw down a salary?

No Mishti, not okay to use your sexuality to manipulate a man that way imo and to lie to Leo.  She is a hypocrite.

Glad to see Xanthe and Ben back together, that was sweet.

I wonder what Gary and Sheila are covering up.

I thought the same about Steph and Amy, but then I remembered that it was Amy who helped Nick get the wellness centre plans into motion, so even though Steph is really the one who made it happen, it doesn't really make sense to me that Steph is able to kick Amy out and Amy just has to take it.

Yeah, Mishti is definitely in the wrong, and I don't really think it fits with her character for her to be doing things like that, especially the illegal stuff.

Yeah, it's nice to see Ben and Xanthe back together. :)

  13. In that scene a few weeks ago with Dee/Andrea sitting down talking to someone, the guy she was talking to looked a bit like the guy who gave Yashvi that money this week. Does anyone know if it was the same actor? I suppose even if it was, it doesn't necessarily mean he was supposed to be playing the same character, because they probably wouldn't expect people to have taken much notice of their faces (although they don't normally seem to reuse actors for different roles unless there are few years in between their appearances).

Yeah she sure fell hard and into bed real quick.

Gary wasn't suss when the initial 'job interview' took place in a driveway?

Elly is getting on my nerves.  She needs to talk to Mark instead of everyone else and stop being so needy.

I don't understand why they make Elly's and Mark's relationship look like something that came about due to a Tinder hookup or something. They act so shy around each other and don't seem to trust each other enough to talk about what they're thinking or feeling, and they both seem closer with all of their other friends. And as Elly said, Mark never seems to want to prioritise hanging out with her. But it makes no sense because they got together after being friends for a while. Surely a friendship only turns into a romantic relationship when you realise that you get on really well and love talking to and hanging out with each other.

And yeah, Garry's interview location seemed totally ridiculous until I realised that the point was going to be that the whole thing is dodgy. It doesn't seem like they're going down the usual route of Garry being tempted by dodgyness, which is good, because that would just be so dumb of him, especially since he's already massively suss.

  15. Yeah, I know it's been more than five years since Rebecca was around, but whenever Paul talks about how he's never loved anyone like he loves Terese, it just really feels like the writers are making him say something totally out of character. I would find it much more plausible if he acknowledged that he loved Rebecca just like he loves Terese, but that he wrecked things and now knows that he would never make mistakes like that again because it hurt too much, or something like that. I mean, I wouldn't really believe that he's not going to wreck things, because, c'mon, it's Paul, but I would at least believe that Paul meant it. Whereas now I feel like Stefan Dennis probably says these silly lines to Terese with Rebecca still in the back of his mind. (I'm not sure what his relationships with his other wives were like at their peak, but that was all pre-brain-tumour Paul, so it's probably not helpful to compare the Rebecca or Terese relationships with those.)

There was no indication that it was drug related at all, it was pretty clear that Karl just meant fruit that he's wanted to grow.

Yeah, okay, cool, that makes sense. I mean, that's what I thought at first too, but then I always just assume that I'm being too naive to pick up on subtle drug references. I thought there was a bit of an emphasis on the word "seeds" when he said it, so later it occurred to me that maybe I was missing something. :P

  17. I genuinely couldn't tell how we were supposed to interpret Karl's story about his attempt to bring "seeds" into Australia. Were they trying to hint at them being marijuana seeds without actually saying it? Or was it supposed to be obvious that he meant durian seeds because he also tried to bring a durian home? Or was it supposed to be ambiguous? Pretty sure you'd have a hard time transporting any types of seeds into Australia, given that you can't even bring in soil stuck to your shoes. But if they just meant like pumpkin seeds or something, there would have been no need to be so vague about what type of seeds they were. But I was just confused, because they seemed to be hinting at pot, but shouldn't people be asking why Karl wants to grow pot? Is it for Susan's treatment, or are we supposed to just assume that Karl has always been a massive pot user? I've never really gotten that vibe from him.

That Andrea/Dee return came out of nowhere, especially since Willow is gone! And from the comments I've seen online, it seems like everyone was just as surprised as I was. Good work, Neighbours!

Just read spoilers for this week and it looks like one of my previous predictions in this thread will come true on Wednesday. I won't say anything more in case people don't like spoilers, but you'll see what I mean. I hope they do the story well.

  18. Yeah, these pairings they've brought out of nowhere make no sense: Amy and Toadie, and Jack and Steph. But I'm assuming that's the entire point, and they won't be permanent pairings. Sonya will get all worried about Amy and Toadie, and it will push her to try to work things out with Toadie. Amy will be left on her own and be jealous of Jack and Steph. Jack and Steph won't work out (because Steph looks like she's having mental health issues again), and Jack will end up getting together with Amy. And Mark will be all obsessed with protecting Gabe from Steph, and will end up with Paige, rather than Elly. Well, those are my predictions, anyway. :P

  19. I vaguely recall from when Russell was on the show that Aaron had some daddy issues relating to Russell's attitude to his dancing work and/or being gay or something. So maybe his mummy issues are something like that too?

  20. LOL at Tim Collins' line to Sonya about reversing utes and surrogacies. :D Great call!

I don't see how Toadie has any more right than Amy or Mark or anyone else to decide what's best for Willow. She's not related to any of them.

Yeah, the Steph and Jack pairing is just random and weird. The only things they have in common are that one of Steph's brothers is named Jack and her uncle Tom was a priest. :P

That actress playing the Brennans' mum was on the show playing Paul's Polish cleaner for four weeks in 2011: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Neighbours_characters_(2011)#Lorraine_Dowski
