  1. You know I was willing to give Liv the benefit of the doubt because she didn't mean to kill Cara. She thought she was killing her husband; but her willingness to throw an innocent man under the bus was too far. Fuck her and her douchebag husband. And now Liv has killed two people (granted the latter was in self-defense but it wouldn't have happened if she hadn't killed the first one) all because she wanted revenge against her husband.

I truly don't understand women like that. She should have divorced him at the very least the minute she discovered the sex tape and the fact that it wasn't a one-time fling with someone he barely knew.

Remarkably enough the most likeable person on this show (Garth) got the shortest end of the stick. Will is a gaslighting asshole but Liv; she needs help.

At first I thought it was just a plot device, and that wouldn't happen in real life.  However, a quick search brought up this story from a Minneapolis paper:

The U.S. Indian Health Service (IHS) later applied forced sterilization to American Indian women in the 1960s and 1970s, (bolding mine, to illustrate that it wasn't ancient history) sterilizing 3,406 Native American women between 1973 and 1976. In 1976, the U.S. General Accounting Office admitted that this took place in at least four of the 12 Indian Health Service regions. The numbers include women in Minnesota as well as 36 women under age 21, despite a court-ordered moratorium on sterilizations of women younger than 21. Their study, however, was very limited and the actual numbers are likely considerably higher.

The article goes on to say that doctors thought they were doing a service to the tribes by limiting births in low income families.  Frightening.

"I thought that too!!  Why not just pay for the funeral anyway??  $16 G is nothing to them!"  (Sorry couldn't quote it)  I got the feeling that John didn't really think too highly of the other rancher, but was willing to let Kayce break the law in order to help him out.  I think his objective was to stick it to the bank.

Yep. But it only applied to Native American women. I know Yellowstone is fictional, but there's no way they would have sterilized a white teenager. Especially not one that everyone knew came from a prominent, if not the most prominent, family in the area. Clearly, a plot device designed to get the audience to hate Jaime, and it's ridiculous.

I mean, the timeframes don't even add up, lol. If this show is supposed to take place in the present, Beth would have been born in 1986. Meaning she would have been 15 in 2001.

At this point on the show, Jamie has done nothing worse than anyone else.

  3. I’ve decided that I’m rooting for France because I’m sick of the Messi deserves it crap! As if everyone else should just move out if the way and let Argentina win because by golly Messi deserves a World Cup to cap off his career.

No. Like no one deserves to win a World Cup - you win the World Cup because your team wins games. It would be different if folks were like I’m rooting for Argentina because it would be a pity if Messi never won the big one but this whole deserves thing rubs me the wrong way.

I'm thinking it was just basic creepiness, let's wait for backup kind of a thing.  Safety.

The thing that bothered me though was that Mormon family was drinking RC Cola.  Doesn't that have caffeine in it and don't Mormons not drink anything with caffeine?  Yes, I'm that dork that asks these questions.

I'm loving the show.  That witch lady is TERRIFYING.  I'm hoping the pregnant girl isn't staying with them so get their hair.  :(

Perhaps things have changed but Mormons are allowed to drink and do drink soda. Coffee is "banned", along with alcohol, tobacco, tea, and illegal drugs. A lot of people just assumed all caffeine was no-go because both coffee and tea have it, but that is incorrect. Although, a lot of mormons do still avoid soda.

The Russians should be banned as a team, period. If any can PROVE they are clean, they should compete on a team like they have in the summer Olympics for athletes who don't have a home country.  (And Eteri should be banned for causing injuries to her athletes as well as doping them. Bah.)

This is already their punishment, lol. TBH Kamila was the first Russian skater that I’m aware of who has ever tested positive for a banned substance; is cheating going on? Likely - just based on history in other sports and the entire Putin scheme in Sochi but it’s going to take more than one positive test from Valieva to have Russians banned in any meaningful way from figure skating. Also, I’m hearing the Olympic mess may not be finished until 2023. I’m still convinced that the powers are that be are just going to wait it out and then announce no change to the team standings.

  6. The Pairs competition was rough. And sadly it reinforced just how far ahead of the field the Russians and Chinese were….hope the Japanese men sweep and I hope the womens free skate is good!

The employees stayed on with the company because every department at Theranos was “siloed” with security preventing them from interacting. This way, nobody could put the pieces together to figure out that the technology was non-existent.

Not really a spoiler, but after Walgreens sunk $140 million into the project with Theranos, Wade left the company to become the CFO of JoAnn’s Fabrics. Quite a steep fall from grace.

Wade is actually the CEO and he remains a tool. The way JoAnn’s treated its employees during the early days of COVID was total garbage.

Greed. The concept would have made them billionaires if it had worked.

Ego. I am attached in some way to the woman who changed the world.

Notice that she wasn't able to sell her persona and shit to women.

Men are dumb. And for most men (even non-white ones) being thin, blonde (even if it’s not real) and having blue eyes is like the pinnacle of beauty regardless of the actual package aka looks of said blonde haired blue eyed thin woman. So I’m not surprised a bunch of old white dudes fell for her bullshit.

  9. Yes!! The French Federation of Ice Sports officially announced that no Russian or Belorussian skaters would be allowed to compete in competitions that France is hosting. And there’s nothing the ISU can do about it.

Now if only the IOC would grow a pair and ban them from at least the next summer and winter games…..

Also, cheating aside, Russia has also violated the Olympic True; they should be banned from the Paralympics too….come on, grow a pair IOC.

Ok, Russia can compete in the next Olympics, but they have to call themselves Stupid Cheaty ROC.

LOL. They’ll be back to Russian Federation come next Olympic cycle! Their pseudo “suspension” is just about over. Whatever the case, I vastly preferred the 2018 OAR version 😂😂

I disagree with Gracie to an extent. What the Americans really need to do is make a push to clean up the sport. I mean if the alternative is just sitting back and smiling pretty while the Russians cheat their way to championships — fuck that. I would like to see American women win medals again. I would like to see the Japanese and Korean skaters rewarded for their beautiful, artistic and technically pleasing programs. But that won’t happen until the doping and judging issues end.

American women have been struggling since Sasha Cohen and since before the Russians started winning - and the Russians aren’t nearly as dominant  as people think. They’ve won the last three OGM, which has happened over a span of 8 years; since 2014 when Adelina won Olympic gold Russian women have won five world championships and two of these were Medvedeva.

Prior to Tuk winning at World’s in 2015, they hadn’t won at Worlds since 2005. I find it frustrating that now folks want to blame the Russians for the American womens overall poor performance in international competition since 2006 (last American world champion Kimmie Meissner). Because the facts and American skaters placements don’t support that and it gives US Figure Skating an out. Instead of trying to figure out what can be done to improve - folks now just want to throw their hands up and be like wah wah wah we can’t win because the Russians are cheaters.

The US women’s gymnastics team on the other hand has been a total beast and crazy dominant by comparison and the only people you hear complaining are non-Americans….wonder why that is?

I used to adore figure skating, but this is the main reason I stopped watching it after the 2010 Olympics. The jumps weren't the reason I was drawn to the sport.

That sucks. There are still some great skaters out there, even if they don’t win. I think Japan and Korea have been producing lovely skaters lately.

While I can appreciate Gracie’s perspective, I mostly disagree with her conclusion. The American ladies are not only behind the Russians but the Japanese and Koreans too. So there’s more to American ladies problems than just, well Russians are abusive and we don’t want to do that so we will never win again. Like there’s a spectrum. For starters US Figure Skating needs to figure out a way to eliminate cost barriers and other barriers to the sport - gasp, maybe try to see what things are being done elsewhere and see what can be learned.

  14. Yeah. Kamila did not throw the free skate and it’s a rumor that needs to stop. But again, I cannot with Bach and truthfully the hypocrisy of ALL of the adults in involved - sadly, I don’t think any of them really care about the Russian girls, they are just upset because the facade has been shattered.

Here’s what the ISU said when Tutberidze won the inaugural International Skating Union Coach of the Year; in 2020! So after Yulia, after Evgenia, after Alina……

”she’s given so much strength and dedication to her athletes….and now it’s time for this talented coach to take center stage”

Ted Barton, ED of skate Canada, compared Eteri’s girls to a stable of thoroughbred horses.

Johnny Weir called Sambo 70 the most iconic school in the world when he visited and waxed poetically about being thankful that he got to enjoy such beautiful skating.

Side note, someone asked about the name Sambo, it’s a Russian martial art that originated in the 1920’s. But it’s practiced internationally now. Not a typo and not racist.  Sambo 70 is named such because it originated as a Sambo school and was founded in 1970 (Sambo 70) and while it’s now more famous for figure skating; there something like 20 sports associated with the club.

She finished in 5th. A point ahead of Higuchi. I know Higuchi fell once, but come on! Justice for Higuchi! The most criminally underscored athlete of these games.

Oh wow! I didn’t realize she placed above Higuchi in the long, that’s ridiculous.

After watching that program, I agree.  Fourth was incredibly generous- it was a mess from start to finish.   Fourth was a gift…without the Eteri bonus it would have been much much lower

Didn’t she actually finish fifth or six in the long but fourth overall based on her short program score?

Classic good cop/bad cop. ‘It’s okay sweetie, she’s awful, here, have a glass of water, take these vitamins, you’ll feel better & get stronger and show her’. If you are a coach in that camp, you are part of that camp. Stop looking for excuses for the adults involved.

I'm not making for or looking for excuses, I'm simply pointing out that at least some adults around them don't discard them the way Eteri does and treat them showponies - and hopefully, there all have people in their lives who care about them so they don't end up scarred for life. I don't say any of them were good people. Two things can be true at the same time.

  18. I think people forgot that these are a bunch of teenagers, teenagers can be dramatic, get stressed, and have meltdowns. This is sad to say, but considering Sasha and Kamila were comfortable enough to do that tells me that there are people on their teams who probably don't just treat them like show ponies. I could never see any of the old Soviet skaters doing something like that. Whichever coach was consoling Kamila seemed gentle and was actually giving her good advice about moving on - as for Anna, classic middle child who always gets ignored because the younger and older siblings require all the attention. She just does her job and keeps it moving. While I would love to see some punishment for Eteri, I think this is going to just make her all the more motivated to keep churning out "champions".

Side note: Johnny and Tara are still really annoying. I don't think they know how to just give commentary without being OTT. I noticed it with Bell and Chen too. And I suppose they are angry at the Russians now, so I'm supposed to just forget all the over the top tongue bathing they've been giving to the Russian girls for the last few girls........

I re-watched the women's, including the Russians, and honestly just about everybody bored me except for Kaori, Wakaba, Young, Loena, Yelim, Mariah, Anna (a bit) and some skaters who placed out of the top 10. I just cannot get into Alysa or Karen and I've tried.

    That always cracks me up.

Nancy should have won gold that year. Oksana and her like, one, shaky double-double combination and her pink poufy thing were way way overscored for Skating While Russian.

Oksana Bauil is from Ukraine, is Ukrainian, and skated for Ukraine. Ukraine is not the same as Russia; they are two different countries. She beat Nancy on a five-four split that came down mostly to geographical differences and preferences. She did not get any type of skating while Russian bonus because she isn’t Russian.

If this is the last Olympics for all 3 girls since Russia girls are usually one and done in these current (sad) times, I hope they all get therapy, and go eat and drink whatever their hearts desire.

I didn't watch live because I forgot all about it, but might watch all the other girls, especially Kaori Sakamoto on NBC tonight.

I legit think Kamila will still around, if she gets away from Eteri. Also, perhaps NBC should give the ROC a gold medal. This drama has people interested in and talking about not only figure skating but the Olympics.

If Kamila goes to another coach she’s not going to have performance enhancing drugs. She isn’t going to be the skater she is. I keep reading that it’s such a shame because she didn’t need them. We don’t know that. We’ve probably only seen her when she’s been taking performance enhancing drugs. All of her jumps, her clean edges, and all of her success are not indicative of what kind of skater she really is without drugs.

I know I’m in the minority on this because I never want to see her skate again.

I disagree. The drugs she were taking help with endurance and stamina, most likely so that she could overtrain.

At the end of the day she has real skill and talent as a skater. If she had a decent coach, a proper diet and training schedule - she would if anything probably be a better more consistent skater and increase her longevity.

Of all of Eteri’s current girls, she actually has the best chance because she had another coach for a long time and has good fundamentals and technique for the most part. Also, Eteri ain’t going nowhere, she has now coached the last two Gold and Silver Olympic medalists….
