Sam is one of my all-time favorite characters. I loved so much about her. From the fact that she wore a regular uniform with boots, to her terrible grow-out hair in season 3-4 to her competence and fearlessness-- she and Princess Leia are my go-to competent women characters in media science fiction. My absolute favorite thing about Stargate SG-1 was the relationship between her and Jack and the fact that they both decided that what they were doing was more important than their feelings. I was crushed on an emotional level (Sam/Jack shipper here) but thrilled on a meta level that the the writers and actors made the characters into adults with choices in season 4. For all of Stargate's lovely cheesy space opera science fiction the fact that Jack and Sam acted like professionals in that situation impressed me the most.
