  1. There are many, but I would start with this season. We could’ve had a wonderful new starting point and another season after this if A&E had done it right. And of course they didn’t. I didn’t mind the new curse, but drop all the Cinderella/Anastasia nonsense and start with the relationships, which is what this show is supposed to be about. KnightRook has so much potential. An organic lesbian relationship had potential. Hooked Queen, in whatever twisted form, could’ve had real potential. But they just totally botched it.

Also, A&E seemed to act like men who get really awkward around pregnant women, which affected Snow’s story. Just because Ginny wanted a few less hours doesn’t mean totally butchering the character and shoving her in the background in frumpy dumpy outfits. Such wasted potential.

And I’m sure plenty of you will cover Regina so I won’t go into that here. I kind of liked her this season, especially her interactions with Weaver and especially WHook — so of course A&E wasted it with that dumb Facilier nonsense.

  2. I'm realizing I at least like this finale because, as a fanfic writer, it's opening up alot of possibilities about what can come next. You know, Killian and David adapting to having Rogers in town. The potential for confusion when WHooked Queen becomes a thing and are seen out together and people think he's Killian. And then what's it like for Alice to be in a town with a man who looks like her father but isn't. And whoa, there's a whole lesbian storyline that doesn't seem completely forced. And ALL THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED IN SEASON 7! Instead, we got a whole front half about stupid crap and the back half was when it got interesting with Rogers and Weaver and Alice -- just in time for the show to get cancelled!

I have said it so many times before, but I will say it again. This show could've been so much better if A&E weren't in charge. At the very least, this show's plot holes inspired me to write and I finally published that novel I always said I was going to publish so thanks for something I guess, A&E.

On what basis was Regina elected Queen of all the realms? What has she done to prove she is close to capable of being a "good" queen? Because she had this nonsense idea to unite all the realms? Why?

Maybe Putin is the leader of one of the realms.

  3. A&E confirmed that Ginny really was crying in that final scene. I don't totally get it but it is what it is.

Emma's fairytale dress, though ill fitting, was 1000% better than her wedding dress last year.

Yes and yes. It was like Gwyneth Paltrow's pink dress when she won her Oscar. All these years later and anytime I see it I just think "You were an Oscar nominee at the Oscars and then you won the Oscar and they couldn't fit that dress any better?" But geez, Emma's wedding ensemble -- especially the hair -- still bugs me.

Rumple so doesn't deserve a happy ending, but I've always had a soft spot for him and Belle so whatever, I can accept his death and them chilling by the well for all eternity. Talk about a boring afterlife though. That said, EdR looked beautiful in the classic ballgown, so maybe an eternity gazing at her wouldn't be too bad.

This was the first time I really thought "Oh, Rumbelle. I get it!" And I honestly think Gold deserved his happy ending, but alot of it had to do with how he interacted with Alice and WHook in this last season. If you just came in for the finale without seeing everything that led up to that, I can see why it would feel weird and wrong for him to get that ending with Belle.

  5. I'll have to unpack this later when I get my head around it more.

Overall, it was a very satisfying end to the series. I got weepy watching those characters together and then that final shot that said Leaving Storybrooke. Ugh, the feelings! I'm really going to miss this show.

But what a hot mess Regina was in that coronation scene. Are you kidding me? That was how you end the show? With a dumb monologue going waaaay too long about hope while Emma stands in the front row? Blerg. I'll just rewatch that scene with the sound off, thanks.

That all being said, something is wrong with me. I liked the hand holding between Regina and WHook. I may have to write WHooked Queen fanfic now. I apologize in advance.

  6. Well, the writers did actually know what was going on from episode to episode. They would plot out the entire season at the beginning and then assign writers to episodes so they knew what they had to write and how it fit into the overall story. And the writers room did help each other once the initial script was written.

The bigger issue was A&E. Bosses are supposed to be leaders with a sharp focus of where a project is going. A&E had that the first year because they had Damon Lindelof helping them and years to really form their ideas. But with season 2, they were on their own. It was the tv version of a band’s sophomore slump. They just never got out of that slump. So while yes, there may have been some small issues here and there, the bigger over arching problem was the bosses had no clear vision for the future.

On a different note, Michael Coleman is miffed he wasn’t invited back for the series finale and threw a fit on Twitter.

You mean the guy who had to step down from his acting school due to alleged sexual harassment claims? And then he’s going on a Twitter rant about how everyone should be believed and it’s just a he said/she said when supposedly there are many people in Vancouver who know about him. Gee, I wonder why they didn’t invite him back on a Disney show about fairy tales.

  8. JMo said at a con sometime in the past week or so that she was trying to make it happen so I'm assuming they'll bring her back. I'm a little less hopeful about Ginny and Josh -- both of them are shooting pilots right now so the scheduling may be difficult even if A&E wanted to bring them back.

My guess is that it will be Drizilla and either Hook or Henry are responsible for her death.

If it is Drizilla it will be pretty amazing that they have eliminated most of the Cinderella portion of the story when the summer promotion was all Cinderella on a motorcycle.

And if WHook does it, it will prove that he is just like the regular Hook: the unlikely hero who wins our hearts when he puts another nail in the coffin of the Winderella part of this reboot.

It's too bad they didn't let A&E play with the Star War toys.  They would surely take care of them... they love Star Wars.

Yeah, just as much as they love Snow White and the Evil Queen and we've seen how that turned out. Elsa? I'll let it go. But if A&E touch my favorite princess, I have confidence Leia is going to break their hands with no warning. As it should be.

  11. Yeah, I’m just saying that not all of the fault is on A&E. They were working with an actress’ request for less screen time. But they could’ve done something interesting with the limited time and they didn’t. Same with JMo coming back for one episode. A&E were kind enough to work around the requests so i do think it was a hindrance to their storytelling. But their lack of good storytelling has been an issue on the best of days with actors who haven’t made similar requests.

  12. I still contend that Snow’s diminished role was partially due to Ginny asking for less screen time. Her role was cut back quite a bit after she had her baby. It’s not easy balancing being a new mom with work so I’m sure that contributed to people thinking she was disinterested when really she just would rather be home with her son than doing media interviews or work on a Snow-centric storyline. So I can’t totally fault A&E for her lack of scenes when they were accommodating her schedule

Of course, A&E also botched that by writing her first pregnancy into the show and the costume department started dressing her frumpy. I’m a mom with two kids. I know it’s possible to dress a mom without making it look like you threw a clothes sack on her — and I don’t even have the luxury of having a costume department to dress me.
